The way Kiko is holding his plectrum is just baffling to me. Dang thing looks like its gonna fall out any time, yet his control and clarity of every single note on any speed is just amazing.

Pat Metheny style
@ibanez78152 жыл бұрын
@@Crovax Nah man, Pat uses two fingers under (point and ring finger) extended and thumb over the plectrum, slightly recessed. Its perfect for crosspicking, which Pat uses almost always. Kiko on the other hand uses something i dont think i ever saw anyone else use. I, myself use all kinds of different way to hold my pick depending on what i actually play at that moment. Its kinda cool tho, since Marty is a "weird" picker as well , I guess Megadeth has special place for weird pickers :))))

Story time: Born & raised in Chicago. Back in 1994, when I was in high school (I'm old), Megadeth was coming to do a show in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom. I heard on the radio that they were doing a giveaway for passes to meet Megadeth after the show and only the first 50 people to show up could get them. The giveaway was happening as a music store. Two friends and I wanted to make sure we were first in line, so we drove to the music store the night before and stayed in my car all night waiting for the store to open. This was in January, in Chicago. It must've been 15 degrees F that night, but we sat in my car and waited all night. Needless to say, we were first in line. Almost froze to death, but we were first. 🤣

Your behind the scenes are immensely addicting and fascinating. The scope and size of production that goes into these tours is mind boggling. Great to learn about how everything is run through your perspective, though. I can't quite get grasp how everything is sync'd during a show with tracks, automatic switching of presets, etc. I would be so afraid of losing time. In any case, can't stop watching! :)
@DanaMedic77 Жыл бұрын
I believe Kiko said they use Digital Performer, which is a Digital Audio Workstation. Everything is programmed in to DP and the band plays along to a click track. That track is how everything is synced. Instead of the engineers and techs having to manually activate cues/patch changes, most things are running automatically during the show.

The economy of movement in the playing is something I'm seeing develop in my own playing. It's awesome to watch such a talented player shred the crap out of something and barely move the fingers. That's the key to speed and accuracy after L/R sync is accomplished.
