I'm at one minute in, and I bet you say this later but... Maybe equipment is in the dossier so they can change it every season without having to errata their rules.

"Unless you are playing on Bheta Decima, all universal equipment must be deployed on the killzone floor" I'm not sure thats fully correct. Looking at the smoke grenade for example, it states when placing it that it must be visible to [the] operative "or on Vantage terrain of a terrain feature that's visible to this operative" (A recent WH battle report also featured a smoke grenade being used to conceal a sniper on a vantage point). A lot of the equipment (barricades, ladders, razor wire) is explicitly specified as a type of Terrain does need to be placed on the KZ floor as you say, but stuff like ammo cache, comms device (and even mines!) arent listed as terrain and nothing specifically states "equipment" must be on the floor.

Thanks! Still confused about one thing: if you select "light barricades", you take two, but there are only two in the set, I think? So if both sides want light barricades, you rely on one player already having a set from V2.0? In most cases that'd be true, but still... Everything else seems to be in the set twice...

I can see stun grenades being very good against 2APL teams, especially if you play stuff that can also affect APL such as the Shrivetalon or the slaanesh firefight ploy from the legionary team.

Regarding razor wire: So even though this is terrain and is not Insignificant you don't have to climb over? crossing isn't really a keyword so RAW this would add another 2" for a Climb. Needs an FAQ imo

I believe it is intended to slow movement by 2" and you can't end in it, no climbing present

@@aligaterr5137 The intent is pretty obvious, but you have to actually argue against the letter of the rules which is not great in a competitive game like Kill Team

Yes very odd, whether you have to pay the 2" climb if you cross over any part of the model itself, since as well its effect covers a 4" gap, if any part of your model passes within 1" you have to pay the 2". Needs a diagram with the FAQ; does going along it length-wise within 1" count as "crossing"?

i would have liked to see razor wire and ladders gain more distance on the killzone, maybe 3-4" from the opponents drop zone. more opportunity to set up advantageous vantage points or block off rapid movement through their own territory

It's not that much. Generally people are taking 2 ladders or a barricade so similar to last edition with its barricades

@@CanYouRollaCrit that doesn't sound too bad but many table bumps have screwed up barricade placement, specially on beta decima. Had a barricade fall from the top point hit a mandrake who tumbled into my aquila which ate floor and snapped. I fixed it made it more durable, but you could hear a pen drop in that room when it happened.

Im not sure i like having all that extra equipment to haul around. It makes it harder to start as a newbie as well incur a extra costs

Having to pay £27 for like one sprue of little plastic ladders is my main barrier to playing 3rd edition. I've so much other stuff to get and having to buy that box annoys me so much 😂😂

KT3.0 Ladder Question. How far can you climb? Ladders say this: "Once per action, whenever an operative is climbing this terrain feature, treat the vertical distance as 1"." it doesn't say how far you can climb, can you climb unlimited up a terrain Feature? Should we be using the Universal equipment and look at the ladder itself, unfortunately the latter comes in 2 sizes: 95mm and 20mm so using the provided model doesn't really clarify. As far as I can tell, its an abstraction and an operative can use the ladder to climb any distance once for 1" of movement. However my gut says that could get Weird. If there is a thread on this topic please link it. I have not been able to find anything on this subject. Thanks

Should use the 95mm ladder. That's how far you can climb with it

How’s the smoke grenade work area wise? If it’s 1” basically only one operative can hide behind it? Or it’s 1”from the centre of the marker (creating the same 2” circle?)

Thank you for the great overview! To me so many of these features seem too gimmicky or overly convoluted. Mines seem pretty bad, I guess Astartes are now stopped by razor wire (?!), the ammo cache seems plain weird since ammunition and reloading has never been part of the simulation, so to speak. I like a lot of things about the new Kill Team but this section is not one of them.

No where can I at all find is if there is any kind of limit as to how much equipment a Kill-Team can take, either in the previews, or the downloadable rules. Can a Kill-Team just take one of everything or is there a set limit placed in some obscure corner somewhere?

I dont get smoke grenades. its 1" wide and only gives you an advantage if your 'wholly within' that one inch. I dont know of any unit in KT that has a base less than 1" in diameter so I cannot see how anyone would get any use from it

It's 1 inch wide from a 20mm marker, you can fit 3 32mm bases inside it

You need to use the physical ladders, tokens don't work

If my opponent wanted to use a token, knowing how tall the standard ladder is, I'd allow it. YMMV, and of course check with your TO at any event.
