I wasn't all that thrilled with the terrain that came with Nachmund because it didn't have anything to do with either included faction. I would have loved to see a board with Eldar ruins or even chaos infected Imperial terrain. Personally though, I'm still betting that one of the next two Kill Team boxes will have a Leagues of Votann team. Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure well see a partial Fronteris release as terrain in an upcoming Kill Team box as well. Probably one set of walls, the Antenna or Auspex Shrine, and either the bunker or landing pad. Maybe they'll include all the options across two Kill Team boxes.

I’m guessing it will be exosuits vs lictors. Lictors are tyranids that take out targets ahead of the swarm, assasin style, plus a rumor engine showed off what looks like a lictor tail.

I'm sure some people were miffed that the crane was missing a piece but I think the bigger hang up the community had with it was a) if it's advertised on the box, as consumers we have a rightful expectation to get that same thing inside the box, and b) people that contacted GW customer support were being told to pound sand with no option for resolution.

Agreed on the terrain. It's also just such a lazy choice. Octarius had Ork terrain, the Imperial ruins in Chalnath did fit the Novitiates but this goes with none of the teams in the box. If they had at least recycles their deathworld fores they'd have had some Eldar ruins in there.

I said I'd not ever play 40k again but you make Kill Team seem like something I could get into and I have to do something with all those Eldar models I've accumulated. Also, no shame in making your own terrain much like what you'd see in the old "Eavy Metal hobby guides and not every piece has to cost $85 to $95!

Great vid! I finally bought a Knight and to be honest I’ve been eyeing up the Sacristan Forgeshrine. I know it’s laughably bad for 40K but I keep thinking about a custom mission using the Forgeshrine and a Knight as the centerpiece, maybe one side having the goal to activate the Knight and the other trying to sabotage it. It also looks like decent Kill Team terrain in general to me if it’s off to one side between the deployment zones and is the only vantage point on the map, really make it something to fight over.

For Kill Team I've been using the Warcry Red Harvest terrain or several Middle Earth Dol Guldur sets kitbashed together. I play CSM and the terrain in this nachmund box is what kept me from wanting to go half or even 1/3 in on a box. So I'm waiting for the legionaire upgrade sprue to come out later since ebay sellers wants to charge like 60 bucks for it.

To balance the crane antenna issue, the industrial kill zone didn't come with the sprue that had the crane. Balanced; as it should be.

Also you make a solid point. Micro cover is a real thing on a battle field in real life so I think lots of tall things should be in 40k games and kill team should have one maybe two vantage points

Love this review. It's the only one I've seen that is removed from release window. So the NEW feeling has worn off and you can get a few games in with the box's content. You were able to take a step back and give it a more honest review. I'd love to see more like this in the future or even going back to review the other expansions as some time has passed.

Chalnath was a bas terrain besaces of the Heavy terrains only, and in Warhammer World tournaments they had twice an amount of terrain for a single table ! But on the other hand, the Nachmund Crane Is here for Masking lines of sight so really interesting in terms of gameplay. You could tale about the little building « base of pyramide shaped » on the pictures in the Nachmund booklet but not in the box, just disappeared !

There needs to be talk about the progression each box is bringing to the game. The first box showed the difference between compendium kill teams, and what the vision for kill teams going forward was. The second box intruded more things for a kill team to do with the Markerlights and the Acts of Faith, then the third box has now added the physic powers. I really like this incremental rule/mechanic building.

I feel like it was a way to offload the terrain. I have chalnath and Octarius and the octarius terrain is much better for killteam imo. At least the chalnath terrain was thematic. It’s great for 40k, though so I’m not mad about it. I’m passing on Nachmund. I’ll get the book if I feel like it would be useful.

A Squats vs Tyranids box seems like a no-brained. New Nids codex is dope, something like Geanstealers or Warriors already have kill-team rules but they could finally do some sexy new Geanstealers models to replace the standard GW box. Then, like with the last two boxes of Killteam, they would be able to do a “refresh + new thing” by dropping the first round of Squat models. I think it’d be really cool to get Geanstealers vs some Votunn Veterans or maybe Warriors vs a Squat Stealth Suit equivalent as a 3v3 kind of “heavy kill team”

I honestly really like the here-to-stay starter for killteam. 2 kill teams, some scatter terrain and all the needed small stuff for 85 eur? Much more easy to swallow than 150 eur limited time starters.

I play regularly on the Chalnath terrain or the very similar terrain from the KT18 box. It works really well, especially as a balancing factor against Pathfinders. All the heavy cover creates big 'shadow' areas where you can be obscured, so you don't need to be on a conceal order. Side note, GW still have Wall of Martyrs, Ryza Ruins and Death World Forrest that they can put out before they have to create another new set for KT.

Great video Jay, I've yet to dip my toes into kill team, mainly due to my backlog with Indomitus/Dominion/Imperium/Blood Bowl/Underworlds. Your enthusiasm about it is infectious though!

you are right they should offer barrels boxes etc. they have them to i got a literal pile of junky bits like tank traps and little piles of rubble etc. it all came with the 40k conquest magazine series

So the GW store around me let it slip that they’re starting a promo to give away free terrain over certain thresholds of purchases, so like you buy $XX of models and you get a free little terrain kit. He wasn’t specific but he made it seem like it’s scatter terrain like barrels, boxes, crates, etc. Seems like it would be great to flesh out kill team terrain and add those LoS breaks

With the amount of customization and if you shop right super cheap price point makes the Mechanicus probably the best and affordable stand alone terrain. Certainly not a one shot buy, but if you have been smart enough to get terrain pieces with a package, sector mechanicus is great. If you go to most local game stores you can pick up bundles with a team you might not use, but perhaps a friend? Unfortunately the platforms only primarily appear in the more expensive packs.

You said "since their basically out of terrain" but I disagree. They have their new fronteris (and old) they could put in a KT box. Or knowing GW they could put even more sector mecanicus terrain (there is a lot of other terrain available in this range). But I really do hope you are right and a new octarius like box set is in the work.

Eldar Corsairs were a FW exclusive TT army from 5th to 7th Editions with army lists provided in Talima Fox's Imperial Armour 11: The Doom of Mymeara (2011) for 5th Edition and its revised edition in 2015 for 7th Edition. I miss the Wasp Assault Walkers. And 4th Core Rulebook had Eldar Pirates KT conversion guide for the first iteration of Kill Team in 2004. And Eldar Pirates were also an army in RT with the Book of the Astronomican army list, and they were two datafaxes in 2nd Edition Codex: Eldar as well as dedicated Citadel Journal 13-14 army list. Eldar Pirates were also the original Eldar from RT rulebook, they pre-date White Dwarf RT Craftworld Eldar army list. I hope to see plastic Wasp Assault Walker kit at some point, maybe updated War Walker with dual kit option for Wasp?

I have yet to jump into Kill Team. I was going to with Nachmund because of the warbands (they both looked so good) but… the terrain looked super sparse and the price was nuts. My LGS still has Octarius and Chalnath. The main thing holding me back is the octarius stuff is very orky and I don’t have 40k orks and I would like dual purpose terrain. Though it sounds like you can’t really do that from this video

I love the new teams, but Sector Mechanicus works better with catwalks. Octarius terrain is the best GW terrain for KT. I use some old GW terrain and 3rd party pieces for my boards.

Surprisingly GW are sending out full servo hauler boxes of terrain to replace the lone bit of anntea. The main thing ya need is to have bought it straight from them (thus getting no discount) with receipt, but if ya have that they are rather ameiable and quick to try to try to help.

People complained about the crane not having the ariel. People emailed in and GW response was "it says models may vary on the box" then within 24 hours they had removed the image on the site and Photoshopped it out on the picture of the full board. 😂

Jay - I'm currently collecting as many GW models with books/scrolls etc as possible, to create an auditor kill team (I'm just THAT cool). Currently up to about 17 of which I have around 10, the rest are very hard to find/hard to justify ebay prices. What's your view on kill teams like this, which have no rules so you have to proxy as something else? I was thinking, as they're basically all gunless, to run them as genestealers and just leave 7 of them in their little storage tub? Would love to hear your thoughts on the whackier side of kill team!

Hi! I posted this under another video of yours, but i fear nobody will read it. I want to get into Kill Team and play Talons. The build you suggested in the other video sounds good (2 Custodes, 5 Sisters) and i will go for it. Here the questions i have (dont have any rulebooks so far), do the Sisters have to take all the same weapon, or can i go with 4 bolters and 1 flamer? Same with the Custodes. And is Spear or Blade+Shield stronger? If they are approximately equal, i would like to go with one of each (if possible).

Games workshop has sent any uk buyers who raised the missing antenna with gw were sent a sector mechanicus galvanic servohaulers for free. Gw gets a lot of grief but they definitely made this right for me

I do feel like there's an underrated element of (I can't think of a better way to describe it without a video game term) level design with regards to terrain, yes it can be randomised but like your example, a piece of terrain should create interesting tactical decisions just by moving around it differently at best and at worst should just be miles of chest high walls I think the crane would probably be a better terrain piece collapsed and torn open by an aerial bombardment or something

Kill team is a separate game from 40k in the current edition, so it has its own rules. They are spread across the compendium, various white dwarf articles, and the books with the same name as the boxes in this videos thumbnail. There is also an unofficial website with everything.
