Hiya am thinking of getting this kit am wondering you got those after market parts is it because the parts they provide in this kit is bad and that is why you went to get those after market parts? And are the decals giving a problem of sticking onto the kit? I got some problem with their F15 decals. Thanks

I bought the AM parts because offered more details than the plastic parts. The cockpit and burner can parts looks fine, but there is an ugly seam at the exhausts that needs some work. The kit decals where good but they where quite stiff, so you need a good decal softer & setter solutions. Good luck with your build!

Very nice work, 1/72 is always a handfull and this kit looked to have its challenges. Well done nice Raptor!

Thanks Patrick, it's not an awful kit, but the ejection pin marks where placed badly. Most of the trouble was caused by the resin exhausts - and to try to figure out how to achieve the "Raptor-sheen" :P

Very nice; I'm working on the same kit right now and nearing the weathering stage. I was wondering: what colors did you use for the thrust vectoring nozzles? The instructions just say Burnt Iron, but it's definitely not what my references look like. I think what you've done is the closest I've seen from KZbin builders so far.

Thanks, I assume you mean the metallic brown coamings between the fuselage and the thrustvectoring nozzles, right? They where painted in Alclad ALC-104 Pale Burnt Metal and after that I sprayed a filter made from highly diluted XF-84 Dark Iron to give it a darker apperance

@@KillBoxScalemodelling the nozzles themselves actually, each one has that dark metallic section in the middle and the light gray? on the leading and trailing edges. The light color almost looks like a washed out Light Ghost Gray in some photos, but like a pale aluminum with heat blanching in others

Came out looking great ! Would you recommend this kit without the extra aftermarket parts ? Seems like you heavily customized the rear engine burners & had troubles while assembling them. I can definitely still buy this kit without the extras .(possibly the Zoom PE & Camo mask if they are not discontinud) . Happy modeling!

Thanks @Doe Jon :) I definately recommend the kit, but the exhausts gave me a big head-ache... I couldn't fit the resin sidewalls and I ended up scratchbuilding new ones using plasticard.

2nd ;) Nice build there. Where did you get the laser cut glue holders etc from?

Thanks, they are from a swedish manufacturer - GEEK Design. You can buy them from Rebell Hobby or Alfa Hobby. I haven't seen them in shops outside Sweden.
