Thank you for showing this great trial. The police department needs to have a professional evaluation on HIRING. On Narcissist and EGO behavior on new hires. I completely understand that this type of person is drawn to these JOBS it's not just PD, all emergency services are attached to EGO trip people. But cops must have exams for their EGO. Before HIRING. Don't know what the future will bring since the Hiring process is so much Government control. How many more American people die by cop is it going to change. Before these Narcissistic behavior is rotted out, and shut out of becoming a cop.

These are the cops that need to be removed from service immediately -- those that cannot reason their bad choices and behaviors -- as asked about his 'B' grade and then re-evaluation of his grade but then refusing to re-assess his answer by deflect from it by saying, "oh, I thought it was a rhetorical question." Even when called out for violating police policy, he refuses to cave to his poor judgement. I believe he is just one of many cops who feel similarly in Law Enforcement; that they cannot make mistakes and should never (refuse) to criticize their own judgement, even when they purposefully violate the Law themselves believing in 'Qualified Immunity.'

There should a National Police Oversight Committee in charge hiring of all police officers. If you have a candidate for a position as a police it should require an in depth background check, physiological and psychological assesment, and a complete reference investigation with personal interviews of those references. Then and only then can the candidate be submitted to the committee for approval. No badge, no gun, no official duties until you are emitted a license to be a police officer from the national policing committee.

Your job to watch that they treat people with courtesy and respect and follow policies for interactions. Like a living bodycam or something. Your there for the citizens, not the cops. The greatest threat to officers is how they're trained. When you are told multiple times daily that everyday can be your last, when you're told that everyone is a suspected criminal, when you're trained that the use of 'deceptive tactics' is just part of your job, when you know that there is a 99% chance that you're colleagues will stand by and back your statements, when you're trained infinitely more on how qualified immunity works than the law this will continue to happen. What costs more, the costs of body-cams/dash-cams which protect all parties or civil lawsuits? Lawsuits are why police budgets are so inflated. We, Americans, need to stop paying law enforcement to harass and harm civilians.

I think the prosecutor did a great job during the trial. However. It took way too long to levy charges on Dean. DA only charged him because of public pressure. that tends to be a recurring trend in the american justice system. if you followed the parkland shooter case, you'll see how fucked it is. there's so many others but because of how tragic that was, it stands out. almost every possible red flag and warning were given to the teachers, parents, police, psychiatrists, psychologists, and FBI and NOTHING was done. everyone just went with it and decided to deal with the consequences, and well, they got their answer for being negligent.

They just hire anyone because nobody in their right mind wants to be a cop nowadays because of all the hate, negative rhetoric, and being painted badly in the press. They also aren’t given as much slack anymore. How do people not realize that when you do this to police, it only hurts yourselves in the long run. It equals less cops, more crime and emboldens criminals. I hope people that hate cops are proud because they are going to see an enormous increase in crime of all kinds.

It's nothing new. The portrayal of cops on film, radio shows and TV was so negative that their unions and chiefs were complaining and wanted shows that portrayed cops in a positive light. So we started to get shows like Dragnet and Highway Patrol back in the 1950s. Still, Hollywood would occasionally get away with portraying reality in movies like the Godfather, Bad Lieutenant, Training Day and Serpico. The corruption and crimes of cops going back to the 19th century is horrifying when you take the time to look into it.
