"Could you kill someone with horse tranquilizer?"
March 23, 1993. Haylei Jordan is 8 when her mom asks her if she wants to leave everything behind. The little girl doesn't realize that her mother has just cut off her ankle monitor and wants to take her daughter on the run.
March 18, 2002. Almost a decade later, Haylei is faced with another terrible decision after years of turbulence and uncertainty: she has to protect her mother even if it means calling the cops on her for what she has just confessed to her.

It's weird to say, but the letter Elisa wrote to her daughter really is beautiful. It sounds like she truly understood her mistakes and just wanted to apologize and finally return all the love and support she got from Haylei over the years. No child should ever have to do that, but at least she finally acknowledged it.

Are you serious? Her mom wrote what her daughter needed to hear, so she could move on with her selfish life. Her mom was completely heart broken & devastated. She couldn’t fathom that the only person she ever truly loved & would do anything in this world for, could turn her in & take her life always from her. Your Hallmark ignorance is hilarious. You don’t understand the true situation here, obviously.

She did kill in cold blood - she could have left with her daughter. This was not the same thing as self defense that happens in the moment as you are being attacked. My heart goes out to the mother - she made a lot of bad choices and was in trouble a lot, but she obviously had a tenderness for her daughter. Ultimately, we can't take the law into our own hands as civilians and murder another, yes in cold blood.

@@suegoulding1341 Thanks a lot, I appreciate all of that very much. She did love me and I could tell when she was sober, she just fell victim to addiction for reasons of her own like so many of us do. I don’t shame anyone for not being able to overcome addiction, it’s tremendously difficult and unfortunately sometimes simply loving your family and friends isn’t quite enough to steer you away from the clutches of your addiction. I know she tried hard for a long time but eventually lost. I’ve thought about that a lot, what she felt and thought about as the overdose set in and she might have had some moments to realize the mistake she had made. Not even sure if there was any time to think clearly before it took effect, but if there was I believe she would have thought of me and wanted to say goodbye. She always felt horrible about putting me through tough times, so I’m sure she would have considered how her passing might affect me. I hope she somehow knew in that moment as overdose set in that I would forgive her for the mistake she seemed to have made, so that she might feel some sense of ease as she passed. It took me a long time but I think I’ve forgiven her as far as I know how to. I’m doing alright, I try to live my life as happily as I can, I have my troubles as anyone does. man it seems people have more sympathy for the mom than the poor daughter. 😕 not only did she have any chance at a normal and safe childhood taken away because of the selfishness of her only parent, but she was eventually just abandoned on the side of the road like garbage then forced to live with this horrific trauma for the rest of her life, all alone. she grew up in constant terror, danger, craziness and paranoia, surrounded by abuse, lies and unchecked mental illness. never having any actual friends or roots anywhere. no fun memories with friends or family. no one to ever turn to, being forced to become the mom to *her* mother as a small child. then instead of just packing up and leaving the man who abused and threatened her daughter for years like she did 100 times before, she murders him, tells her child, throws her out on the street and makes her live with the guilt of having to turn the only person she has in the world in to the police knowing she’d get life or even the death penalty. i mean come on guys. the daughter is the one still suffering.

Thank you! All these people saying she was such a great, loving mom. While she parentified her child in the worst way. There were grandparents who could have taken care of her child. She could have worked on treating her mental illness. Plus, I’ve seen this case covered years ago, and iirc, Elisa and Sarah had embezzled a lot of money from Larry’s law office, from the account that was supposed to pay out to clients who won their case. Larry was an abusive asshole, but they really planned his murder to cover up their theft. And Elisa killed herself rather than face what she did, and left her child to pick up the pieces. And in the letter, she showed she knew what she needed to do, and hadn’t done.

There is so much information left out. I love your documentaries but it makes me wonder if this much is left out of them all? The way she is portrayed is a poor battered woman who defended her daughter. That really is not the case at all. We will never ever know if he was abusive or not (although none of Larry's friends and family believe this) but we DO know that this woman was after his money. What they were doing before he was killed, when he was killed, and after he was killed says a lot. You guys don't even mention the trip they made to Yosemite first where they originally planned to bury Larry but he was still clinging to life...if only just barely. You don't mention the poor guy Ken before Larry either and how she was ripping him off and took him for all he was worth...you don't mention that a lot of time passed between that incident with her daughter and when the two women actually killed him. There's a lot not even mentioned. I hope you guys will be more detailed in your videos because there's a lot of crucial information being omitted and it makes me question the cases I'm unfamiliar with. Otherwise I love your videos, and hope to find more thorough coverage moving forward!!!

Just bc The Dixie Chicks have a song "Goodbye Earl" and Martina McBride has "Independence Day" doesn't mean it's perfectly fine to kill someone because he's an abuser, unless you can prove it was in self defense, which seems hard to prove for this case. She should have just run away. Its not like their marriage was actually legal since she never used her real ID. Also, how selfish can you be dragging your child into an unstable life like that? That's crazy.

Idk man. I’m actually torn on this one. Elisa seemed to have a bad go from the start and I don’t think she would’ve committed m.urder if her daughter hadn’t been attacked. I think if she hadn’t taken her own life she could’ve gotten paroled after time served and been properly rehabilitated. It’s great to see her daughter thriving though despite how chaotic her early years were.

I get she loved her mom without a doubt.. but I don’t feel like her mom had the same love for her daughter… otherwise she wouldn’t have had her go through what she went through being on the run and constantly ending up in jail.. if she loved her she should’ve left her with her grandparents to grow up in a stable environment..

Hard to dare to judge Knowing how conflicted that young woman's life had to be because of her mother, but Larry put her life in danger, and both were abused by him. I don't know, some part of me is wishing she tuck the decision let her go and not give her away. But I understand that maybe she was afraid after her mother had already crossed that line, wondering if she was capable of doing it again, and even for love feel the need to stop her. I accept that everything is more complicated than I could ever understand.

Exactly my thoughts! Everyone saying she protected her daughter too! Smh! She's the one who cut her house arrest bracelet and went on the run with her 8yo child! Then gets with an abusive drunk and stays bc he was rich! She's selfish and drug her daughter thru the mud! Then took her own life bc she always ran from her problems! A good mother would have faced her punishment for the crime she committed and let her parents help raise her daughter while she faced them. The trauma and anxiety she fully caused her child is very sad.

@@sweetie523out of all the perp i felt most compassion for the mother, even with getting financial stability with an abuser, conning, it was all to support her daughter. However, when u killed someone, there is this contradict i think transpired within her mind that she needs to support her daughter but also she is concerned and shocked of what she did. Then, her daughter told the police what happened because her mother was so mentally ill because of the uneasy feeling of covering the truth. Hence, her daughter's action was to release her mother from the weight despite that felt like a betrayal...very sad story

I'm familiar with this case. And while I am so happy for Hailey to be living a better life & giving her kids a better life than she was given, and while I'm also touched by her mother's last letter.. I feel this was made to make Hailey the victim, even her mother was painted more of the victim near the end but not much good was said about the actual victim whose life was taken from him. She ran all her life practically. Avoiding the law at all costs, not even seeing her family in a decade yet she felt she needed to kill him over doing what she was good at & running away? I also noticed that not many people who spoke out about his character was shown or spoke of. Other videos I've watched on this case mostly shared the same things but they also stated that they were both mutually physical with each other. That he not only learned of the affair with Sarah, but that they both had stolen a lot of money from him, & had learned she was using a fake identity so their marriage wasn't legal so he ended up confronting them while they were all intoxicated leading to them killing him after he threatened to turn them both in. There was also supposedly statements by Sarah before it was learned she was involved, that he was never abusive to Hailey, that he tried bonding with her but she was rude unless she wanted something from him. Not saying these things are true, just stating what other videos on this case said that I've watched over the years. There's so much more too so it's hard to tell what is or isn't true. However, he was still a human & I felt this video didn't really honor his life nor show him as any kind of victim 😔

Elisa and sarah did wrong, no question. But I have to say I don't feel one bit sorry for Larry. He was clearly an abuser who used his power and money to hurt women, and then he goes and nearly kills Haylei. Could Elisa have gotten herself and her daughter away without killing him? Maybe, but who knows? The saddest thing in all this is that Haylei got put through so much trauma in her life. Side note that I agree with others: Elisa and sarah weren't best friends, they had to be lovers. Which, more power to them for that part...if they hadn't killed someone.

It’s amazing how differently the same crime can be covered. I’ve heard this story before told by someone else on KZbin. The focus was on Elisa’s and Sarah’s relationship, both at work and personal. According to that channel they were more than just co workers and completely drained Larry’s business out of money by committing fraud and forgery and spent his money on luxuries for themselves. And here the focus is on Larry and how bad he was, and the woman is almost a hero, who was protecting her daughter at all cost. So.. who knows what the truth really was.🤷‍♀️
