“She doesn’t know what’s coming, but we do”
It’s just after midnight on July 9th, 2011 when a CCTV camera of the Leili home captures Niqué, completely unaware that this would become her last known footage before her disappearance. Niqué’s 19 year old daughter Alex is quickly suspicious of her step-dad Matthew, but her younger half-sisters, Amanda and Rebecca, firmly believe their dad is doing everything he can to help find their mom and reunite their family. Alex knows that the only way to save her family is to find out the truth about what happened to her mother that fateful night.

And yet women divorcing decent men and then picking a manipulative and controlling man to step father their children is all too common. Why are we not asking why she would choose such a man? And don’t give me the “she didn’t know he was a jerk” when she married him nonsense.

I often think the family of the accused should get to see all the evidence before the court case. I know of cases where a family has stood by someone because they believe them and haven't seen the actual evidence. The family then suffers the condemnation of others.

He asked the 14 year old to listen to recordings of sex, violence, violent sex, abuse of all kinds. He UNDERESTIMATED the forensic IT team that reassembled the WHOLE story. So, he gave her jaded filed to listen to that no normal father would have ever wanted his child to hear. But, it wasn't until several years away from him that as she was becoming a young woman, very much her Mama's daughter, she listened to the restored files, saw the deleted footage, and could place all the puzzle pieces together on her own. But, I have a QUESTION!! Who is the THIRD daughter? There's the aunt, Alex who left in the nick of time, and Rebecca who he manipulated. Where's the 3rd daughter? Did I just miss it?

This case brought up a lot of red flags that i missed in my own relationship. When this happened, it actually helped me see the similarities. The gaslighting. The recording. The attempts to turn family and make them think that you're crazy. And the fights. Pushing your buttons til you lose it and push back, then they record you screaming and yelling. It can happen so gradually that you start to think maybe it is you, maybe you really are the cause for all the bad things happening in the relationship. After i kicked out my ex, I was still paying for his bills and buying food. I'd cook him dinners. Thats when he started getting desperate and unpredictable. One time he had grabbed me by the throat and shoved me back towards the balcony, which was on the 10th floor. After that, i would text my sister or a friend every time i went in, and i tried never to go there. I also recorded, just in case. I ended up using the recordings and texts to get a no contact order. Havent seen him in 5 years and i still dread running into him someday. Sorry for the long post. It just makes me queasy every time i hear this case. Anyone out there who may be in a similar situation, you know this isnt how love should be. You know this at the back of your mind, in your heart. You know in your gut that you deserve better. Please please listen to those instincts, it might save you.

I think your comment is a really good example so that people forgive themselves if they can't leave when they know they should. Please take into consideration this story and others. Someone told me that when she got her alcoholic husband finally out of the house, she helped him clean, set up and furnish his house. The next day his mistress moved in with him and she has not been welcome since. For myself, even with his break-ins after I got him out, I still did not want to call 911 or charge him just because I didn't want my daughter to have a father with a record. Now I would call 911.

There are several KZbinrs that have covered this case and I’ve seen them all but this one is by far the best. Thanks for doing it in a respectful way for the victim and her family. This video brought back so many horrible memories of how my stepdad used to beat on my mom. I remember many nights laying in bed and hearing their fights and always worrying about my mom. My stepdad had the worst attitude especially when drunk. One night making up they decided to go to the casinos and my stepdad ended up loosing a lot of money playing blackjack, my mom would only play video poker but of course for some reason he blamed my mom for all the money he lost. On the 2 hour drive back home they began to argue. He got so mad that he pulled over on the side of the interstate an hour away from home and yanked my mom out of the car then left her on the side of the road in the middle of a tropical storm. I remember waking up when he got home and when I realized she wasn’t with him I started crying because I thought he had done something really bad to her. When I woke up the next morning thankfully she was there. That same day we packed our things and left, my mom had had enough. I know that had she stayed with him it was only a matter of time before he did the unthinkable. My heart breaks for this family I can’t imagine the grief they had to endure after losing their mother only to find out their dad was the one responsible.

You are bearing false-witness. What proof do you have that he was able to manipulate his daughters. That he may have murdered his wife, I can not bear witness. But, I can say in good faith that the allegations against him may be false. Yes, they may be true, but the evidence does not prove but only provides suspicion that he conspired to persecute his wife. The same may be true that another may have committed the act, and Nique may have been directly involved in her own demise. I agree that if he had committed the murder it would be terrible and the only judge of the truth would be God himself. As it is, there was nothing but suspicion and it is as likely that an innocent man may have been wrongly prosecuted. I do not declare him innocent, yet the law should have assumed it until it could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. There, indeed, is doubt.

What ACTUALLY crazy is that she probably NEVER did cheat on him! She knew how insanely paranoid he was, and if she was ever tempted, I think she knew that she would never get away with it. Or it's quite possible that she honestly gave her marriage all she had, and genuinely tried to make it work. Her husband was an obvious control freak, and between the problems he caused with her oldest daughter, the other 2 kids, and working 60+ hours a week, she probably didn't want to complicate her life even more with an affair! The guy was freaking tracking her, ffs!

When i first sought counsel for my prior relationship, i was in disbelief. The therapist told me i was on a dangerous fast track to winding up another victim. She described my ex's "patterns of control" and inability to regulate himself as a tell tale sign of what was to come. Yes i was extremely depressed, isolated from everyone and being highly controlled but the idea of him physically abusing, let alone murdering me seemed laughable. Within maybe 3 years of being told this, the prophecy came true. He was mentally unwell and would have psychotic episodes and blackouts. He was arrested 3 times in 6 months for a variety of assaults, property damage and disorderly behaviour. It ended when he destroyed my entire apartment, nearly killed himself and thought he had murdered me. Thankfully I wasn't even home (he was that unwell) and he dragged an old door to garbage bins instead of me. He confessed to the police that he had "done something to his girlfriend" despite me standing there right next to them.

I want to acknowledge the courage and resilience of the three children who have been impacted by their father's actions. I believe their mother must be incredibly proud of the young ladies they've become, not only because they're doing the right thing, but also because they're taking a stand against their father's wrongdoing against her and the rest of the family. I'm also deeply impressed by the strength it took for them to testify against their own father. It's a testament to their bravery and commitment to truth and justice. I'm also grateful to see that Amanda has been able to find healing and move forward, leaving behind the darkness of the past. She has emerged as a loving and compassionate sister, and I'm sure her mother is filled with joy knowing her daughter has found peace. It can't have been easy for them to relive the painful memories and share their stories, but they've done so with courage and conviction. Their actions serve as a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, doing what's right is always worth it.

I can’t even imagine going through all this as a kid. I hope this family knows how many people care about them. It’s such a horrible story… but in so glad these girls got away with their lives.

It’s frustrating how long it can take sometimes to get all of the evidence examined. Glad it finally happened. It’s such a shame that he was free to manipulate those girls. I COULD NEVER put my kids through that. Especially going on the stand to lie for him 🤮

Great presentation, such compassion for the DV victim; ME TOO, still alive but living for years in fear of my abuser - he is rich and connected, paid off dirty judge as well as other professionals, also tried to drive me to suicide etc, be careful friends, evil has many faces and many friends, they are a tag team😢😢😢

Unfortunately many families have a malignant narcissist like these girls endured The malignant narcissist always tries to make you feel like your the reason why everything is a nightmare even though it is the narcissist manipulation

It made me so happy that the sisters were able to rekindle their relationship! No one was to blame. Everyone was being manipulated and it just took some time for everyone to realize

My cousin's estranged husband killed her on the day she met him to serve her divorce papers. She texted her friend "He's here," and that was it. Never, ever serve alone. Ever. You don't know them like you think you know them.

I’ve known about this case for years and always felt so bad for how manipulated the two younger daughters were. I always hoped they would come to realize the truth and I’m so glad they have.

That was beyond heartbreaking and heartwrenching - the daughter crying as she ran from the woods into her sister's arms, the sister trying to go to her mother, Nique's mom breaking down while being interviewed - brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely devastating. If that monster of a man had *truly* loved his children he would've never taken their mother from them. What a selfish, insecure "man" Matt is, thinking of nothing but himself in true narcissistic fashion, exposing his daughter to further trauma by having her listen to all the footage from the fights her parents had, smearing the daughter's memory of her mom with all his manipulation. No thought for anyone but himself. What's done in the darkness *will* be brought to light and lying murderers will eventually be exposed for exactly who they truly are. Thankful to God that justice was served here.

Manipulating.. using the children.. trying to get her committed.. it’s all extremely scary. The cameras alone are scary. I wish she could have left. So heartbreaking 💔 I just heard the recordings of him locking her in a room 😢

I don't think enough credit is given to these detectives and the tedious task of going through 60+ hours a week going through the surveillance and recordings. I heard of this case before and is just realizing that her murder was totally premeditated.

I never went through the hurt they did to this extent but I did get hurt by both my parents all because they couldn't sort out their shit on their own and I understand how these poor girls feel. I hope that man does not feel peace ever again.

I feel like I'm reading my very well hidden diary. The cameras, the constant accusations, the flipping out ifwe go ONE day without sex, regardless if I'm on my cycle, or am sick with a 101 fever...the family 360 app GPS saying I'm at work, but he calls my work phone to accuse me of not being at work, while he turns his GPS off constantly and disappears for hours then comes back to stay up all night, waking me up from a dead sleep at 4AM to accuse me of stealing his pills or moving his things or cheating because we didn't have sex that night so "WHO IS IT!" just because I fell asleep waiting for him to come to bed...IT'S EXHAUSTING AND INSANE.

God help you. You’re still with this man ?? I was married to a man with bipolar schizophrenia with severe paranoia. I left him after 3 years with my 2 year old and newborn. I couldn’t take the accusations, the constant yelling and stalking etc. same behavior. Even decided baby wasn’t his. It was his bosses who I never even met. ?? He got baker acted. Months later his psychiatrist called me and told me I was in danger and I should leave him. I was leaving anyways, that just gave me the push I needed. It was still hell for years after that. He never saw kids. Never kept them one hour. Never paid child support but I was ok with that. I was happy he didn’t take me to court for visitation rights. God my stomach hurts thinking of all the craziness with that man. You should leave yours ASAP! Everyone deserves to live in peace and happiness.

The crotch checks when I got home from work or visiting my parents.... I finally stopped wearing underwear, threw them all in the trash. I also secretly worked out with my doctor to have knee surgery & get my tubal ligation at the same time. I'll forever be grateful to my Dr. for making that possible. It's hard to believe how many of us are here in the comments. These psychopaths outnumber mosquitoes!
