I was out cruising in my boat with friends and spotted the transient orcas chasing dolphins. Panicked, the dolphins tried hiding in a nearby bay, but they couldn't escape the family of killer whales and the mayhem began...

Some of the orcas at Seaworld are residents, not transients. But the orcas are bored and crazy from being locked up in small spaces, so they'll even bite and kill humans, let alone dolphins. Of course they shouldn't put bottlenose dolphins in with the orcas for that reason alone.

Foreigners think they are intellectuals, this river is not navigable, nor is it for the Orca. This is a river that springs from the mountains or comes out of an important river, where green forests contaminate water and turn it dark green with water bitterness, harming the Orca whales.

I'm so jealous you were lucky enough to capture a kill on film. A few years ago I thought I was gonna get so lucky when we were watching a huge pod of dolphins playing and feeding, when they suddenly all bolted. We followed them a short distance into a shallow bay, when we discovered what all the commotion was about. A pod of nine orcas were moving in from the opposite direction, but paid no attention to the dolphins. They were just pushing through, so we followed the orcas. Our tour guide was a dick in that he'd get illegally close to the pod, and it obviously upset the orcas. They split into three groups of three as to make it so we couldn't annoy all of them at once. Naturally the guide followed the group which included the huge male, who eventually told us to fuck right off with a massive breach and sideways body slam right next to the boat. I thought for sure we were gonna be the first assholes to die in an orca attack. I just wanted to throw the guide overboard and get the hell outa there. Total dick move to get right on top of a migrating pod like that.

@fattymcbastard6536

@@colleenmarron3763 1. Not my job. 2. I'm not such a dick as to ruin the experience of all the guests on board who were obviously enjoying themselves. 3. Prior to the orca encounter, we blew past a bunch of other whale watching companies' boats to park on top of the pod of dolphins. All these guys have radios, and it's in their best interest to report the criminal behaviour of our captain to maintain a positive image of the way commercialized whale watching conducts business. 4. I filed a complaint with the company after the fact, as I'm sure many others would have during this guy's shortened career. The following year, he was gone, and we had an excellent trip observing around a dozen humpbacks hanging around our area for feeding. This captain played by the rules, and versed all the guests on board as to what those rules are. Still, after parking well away from the animals and cutting the engine, we had a couple of humpbacks come right up to the boat to check us out, which was pretty cool.

I like calling pigeons by their "real" name rock doves, it makes them sound so much more wild! Regular animals are a lot easier to understand and get to know tho, out here you can sometimes drive miles and miles in your boat and never see much of anything too, it always trips me out but it's true, we laugh about it all the time.

I wonder if Orca usually eat dolphins or if they've adapted over the years due to their normal pray becoming more scarce? Seagulls here in my home town survive largely on food waste left by humans, but during lockdown when people weren't creating much waste, the gulls started eating pigeons.

Not bad , but like others I wish for more action with voice over narration so I could understand what was going on at any particular moment . Like did the dolphins try any actions to avoid being eaten and what were they . Some dolphins obviously were able to get away . How did they do it ? Did they outsmart some of the moves made by the orcas to escape ? Just like to know more . To those that think the orcas are terrible for this ! I hate to watch a dolphin get eaten too , but this is true nature at work here . Things do get eaten so that others can survive . The world is not some fantasy island place where no one ever cries or dies or loses . Welcome to planet earth folks . It's called reality

I think this one is in Hanson Island , BC, southern resident orcas tend to be around this area and they also play around with dolphins, humpback, or sea lions there..and they only eat Chinook Salmon or forced to eat other fish, but they dont eat other sea mammals. I think these ones are transient orca passed by...they travel around the world and eat other sea mammals..i think if the southern resident orcas were around they would have had charged the transient orcas away from their territory area.

I watched a pod of Ocas eat a grey whale, first they chewed off the fins so it couldn't dive out their range, they commence to strip the blubber off. It was team work. Two would hold the grey whale up, while the others having greater leverage would strip the blubber in big hunks. This happened forty miles off Magdalena Bay, Mexico. The big male kept circling around, worried that we might interfere. When we got too close to get a better look, the orcas would take the grey deep and come up a few miles away. Finally we took off and left them alone to finish their meal in peace.
@milanka882

Obviously no humpbacks in the area to come to the gray's rescue. Humpbacks often rescue smaller mammals from orcas. They also harass them and drive them on... kind of like a cop doing street patrol and moving everyone on. And if humpbacks catch orca with a kill they'd prevent the orca from feeding. Look it up. Type in "Humpback whales helping seals" on KZbin. Orcas really trigger humpbacks big time. Wahahaha.
