Yeah we’ve never read or even heard of this book before, and I’m a pretty big reader. I’ve read a lot of people say it was required for them in school, but it wasn’t for either of us. Planning on finding it and reading it once I’m done with school and have time to read 🙂

Justin Hawkins did a great interview with Ren two days ago, it's about two hours long. He stated that he really wanted to make this hip hop album, wich he's delivering bit by bit now, and ahe's already working on the next album wich will be more like songs and storys.

@@yilomina2047 Could be both. In the original Willy Wonka, Gene Wilder pretends to have a limp until his cane gets stuck between pavers. It sets up that you can't trust anything he does for the rest of the movie.

Thanks for the early reaction! Ren's music has kept me alive this last year. I've been going through a very similar struggle - physically and mentally as Ren. It's saved my life to know that I'm not alone. His music makes me feel understood. Memorizing his songs helps me pass the time while i'm stuck in bed. I have never fan girled in my life, but i'm getting dangerously close.

In the Justin Hawkins interview he states that the rap songs he is drip feeding us at the moment are from his sick boi hip hop album. He has a follow up album of more guitar based songs in the pipeline with pretty much all the songs for it already written. Im sure he will record them when he returns home after completing his treatment. He then says songs like Hi Ren and the Tales of Jenny & Screech are seperate entities, not intended to be on any albums and these songs that you guys prefer will be put out in between the albums. He apparently has one planned for the summer that he is extremely excited about. A live one take video but I have no idea what it will be.

Great reaction! Think you were the first reaction after the premiere! This was a fun mix between A Clockwork Orange and Animal Farm to me. There's so much to process: It will take a few watches to understand all the imagery. Ren has said that after the hip hop type album, he plans to go in a different direction. He mentioned in the Twitch that he has ideas for another trilogy along the lines of The Tales; different characters but that general feel. A house party thrown by Ren would be madness!

Thank you for reacting to anything by Ren. Bisecting or dissecting Ren's brain may be too much of a challenge for normal human beings. Yes it's Animal Farm, one of my favorite books. Many other references in this video. I would love to be inside Ren's brain, I feel a commonality with him that sometimes scares me but mostly excites and thrills me. I keep seeing the genius of Ren. I am seeing the connections of his lyrics to other written works of art in literature. Truly amazing. Ren is amazing! I also wondered about the mind of George Orwell from some of his other books. Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational. Never underestimate Ren

With his mum being a voice/singing coach and his dad a professor of Psychology at Cardiff University, I imaging he was brought up hearing intelligent conversation and was possibly coached to some extent by both of them. Did you watch the recent interview with Ren by Justin Hawkins? If not, you should. It’s an amazing interview. He stated in that interview that he’s releasing all the songs from his current album which is rap/hiphop based, but his next album will be all singing / storytelling songs. He loves both so perhaps he didn’t want to mix genres on one album. Anyhow, please go watch the interview!

He said that this album is a rap album but the very next album will be a return to more singing music. He said he has already written most of the songs. I am presuming (guessing) there will still be rap sections thrown in or even story telling but there will definitely be singing. Enjoying this rap phase immensely but also looking forward to him singing his own original music.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, this another piece of the puzzle, another link in the chain of his conceptual continuity, like a thematic thread that runs through his entire body of work and will continue to. Im sure some of you have spotted within this track references and themes to his previous songs. This is what he does. In illest of our time he dared people to look into his thoughts - "Travel to the corner of my cornea and mind, look for all the answers that I never seem to find". He wants us to help him explore what makes him tick. I've noticed that he takes notice of peoples reactions and their opinions of what his songs means to them. Its defintely a back and forth collaboration of sorts between him and the people that love what he does. When people spoke of him being like an alien he put that into the illest of our time for example. He said in a recent post something about taking control of the rabbit hole, which is also evident by his new sick boi website. I think he has demonstrated that perfectly with this track and video. He puts stuff out there that he thinks and obsseses about and then waits for the reactions to it which will give him feedback to draw upon in his art but will also facilitate his ability to stay one or two steps ahead of our perceptions and expectations. I hope he will continue to be an enigma that will never be completely solved.

There's so much going on in this lyrically and visually. Its a very clever reference to Animal Farm. The writing on the wall are the 7 commandments of Animal Farm. The 2 pigs (Napoleon and Snowball) led the uprising. I guess you need to really understand Animal Farm to connect the dots in all the references. But I think there is even more to it than that, calling out corruption in politics and also the conflict in Ukraine, as Animal Farm symbolises the Russian Revolution in which the people rose up against the, then, leadership in Russia... Relevant!

The reason you don't get immersed like some of the other songs is you don't get it.... if you had read the books, watched the movies, you would be pulled in so much more. So many people miss how many references and how deep it all goes. There's at LEAST 10 (deep) references that you missed in the first room/shot.... i think rens intellect is recognized only in tiny fractions, pick a video/song (like this one) and study it, watch interviews, watch the movies that inspire the references and the books plus read "between the lines" and then put it all together and you will find a wealth of story telling, this is just more subtle while being more in your face, most people miss almost everything in the opening shot, let alone the whole song and video....
