Worth mentioning that this game is a gamer/dev dream come true. It was originally created as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 known as KFMod in 2005. Tripwire Interactive, at the time known for Red Orchestra: Combined Arms, noticed it and decided to make a deal to produce a retail version in 2009. So yeah, the game is actually older and has modding roots!

I love the visual spectacle and gunplay, but damn does the awful cosmetic system ruin it. I hate getting rewarded with the same crap skins over and over again, stuff for characters I don't have (and will never buy) and crates that you have to pay to open in a game that isn't free to play. Plus the vault and inventory system is constantly bugging out.

KF2 is such a corny ass game, I have about 200-300 hours in both KF1 and KF2 and I much prefer KF1. It takes itself more seriously and doesn't have that disgustingly bland sci-fi tone to it. Idk about you, but when a game is about man-made atrocities and slaughtering of innocent civilians and destruction of entire countries, I want it to be taken seriously. KF2 literally has a boss that shits itself, farts, and vomits all over the place in a comedic tone. Let's not forget that the sound effects in KF1 are so much punchier and more impactful than KF2. It really disappointed me to see KF3 is doubling down on the sci-fi themes of KF2. A game that combines the gameplay and movement of KF2 with the tone of KF1 would be all I'd ask for.

Here's my quick rundown for those hoping to get into this series.: 1.) You don't need great specs to play either of these games though a smooth-running game will help a lot 2.) These games don't really have a story outside of the data entries for the zeds, mercs and bosses so you can just jump straight in 3.) What Bricky said about friends is absolutely true. Got you some before playing for the true experience and 4.) Hell on Earth should not be touched until you have at least 1 class maxed. For your own sanity.

As much as I love the old KF1 (standalone, never played the mod), it has a really bad problem with class usefulness at high difficulty. That's the one thing that KF2 fixed beautifully, it has phenomenally good approach to high difficulty by giving enemies more agressive movements and extra attacks and more chaotic animations rather than simply more health, more damage approach of KF1.

Every perk in kf1 has their own use and are able to deal with everything when they need to, just takes actual skills to play and that’s the reason why many people prefer kf1 over kf2. Back in 2013 ish, I was stuck in the hospital for a LOOONG time. Had an issue with my leg that no one could figure out and child me was stuck with the fact that I had a high likelihood of losing it. What helped me through this time was a laptop my mom bought a couple years ago, and it couldn't run feckin anything. But was capable of playing KF1. Oh booooy, did it become my escape. Hundreds of hours because I had nothing else to do (school tried its best to not give me an extreme amount of homework as I was becoming crippled for life). A cancer surgeon finally figured it out months into the extreme pain, and I've had surgeries every since. I wouldn't be the gaymer I am today without the shitty hospital wifi and choppy audio of people giving me thanks more genuine than anyone else had before, just because I was a decent medic. Here I am, capable of running on two legs and maining medic in every god damn game possible. God bless tripwire interactive and praise be unto KF3.

Most of the old guides are sufficient enough information which is why there’s no need for new ones. The problem most people have for every game is usually learning and doing the portforwarding part. Besides that, theres nothing wrong with kf1 servers, the game is safe aslong as you stay within the game and not 3rd party. Some servers are just obviously really custom filled with a bunch of crap like custom weapons, zeds and what not.

One of my best moments in KF was after they added the "Seeker Six" into the game. My brothers, some randos and I were battling the boss on London. He was going to hide for the heal and was already to far and to invisible for my teammates. (We were at the church and the Patriach was already in de doorway of the police station down the street) but I had my trusty Seeker six, denounced for the lower dmg compared to the rocket launcher, did it have something the RL didn't have. It locks on targets. and so knowing the general direction of the Patriach, I locked on fired all 6 missiles at once, watched as they traversed the street and killed the patriach in the building. A glorious moment that burned itself in my memories.

Something else to appreciate is the weakpoints of the specimens genuinely encouraging smart play. Of course everyone knows shoot the head for massive damage, but in cases like the Bloat, it's a core part of dealing with them. Bloats are really common, but also have insanely high HP pools for how common they are as a result of all that meat on their body. But their heads are a different story, they go down extremely easily with just a few rounds. In the sequel, they even changed it so that the head and body HP are two separate values, with a decapitation killing the Zed in a little bit rather than draining their body HP. That means that once a Zed is decapitated, you are just wasting ammo by continuing to shoot it, so you're encouraged to pick your shots carefully and leave the literal "walking dead" to their fates.

I still have great memories of binding mousewheel to throw $1 and making it rain dosh XD One of my favorites was called the scrake uppercut where you play as a support with an axe. Headshot a scrake with the axe to stun it, crouch and fire a well-timed double barrel alt fire through its neck. When done right the shotgun will hit both the scrake's head and body hitboxes for huge damage (able to 1-shot scrakes on any difficulty) Also zerker was the ultimate solo class, their speed allowed for some of the best kiting.

The starting 9mm pistol from this game has literally never been beaten, in terms of a satisfying starter weapon. The iron sights are amazing, and the SOUND. Good lord it's PERFECT.

I love seeing love for kf1! ive been a long time player of it since a year after it came out, and have a ton of hours int it. btw people who are curious, yes! this still an active game! it pretty much mostly hardcore players and people just randomly buying now adays, and ill admit, this game is brutally hard, even on some of the more base difficulties if you dont know what you are doing. Us hardcore players usually got pretty low tolerances for dumb people too so to help out if you gonna get consider these rules to help minimize toxicity happening and also improving your first experiences (or just play solo or with your friends only, but even then some of these will just help you learn the game and youll soon be doing anyway) 1. aim for the head. no literally, on harder difficulties you will never even kill if you dont, or completely blow through your ammo. enemies are super tanky otherwise. its better tot ake the extra .5 seconds to line up the head, also head hitboxes are super janky, so aim for the throat more than the top. 2. do not join a random occupied lobby of suicidal or harder if you are not at least level 4 or 5 in said perk. majority of these servers even have auto kicks if you do, and odds are unless on a smurf acc you probably are not proficient enough to be anything but hard carried anyway, and most older players can be sadly pretty toxic in this way, but most new players dont understand general this games etiquette so it makes some sense. 3. do not randomly rage scrakes or fleshpounds unless you know how to take it down. these zeds are extremely fast, tanky, and do high damage so randomly shooting at it is not helpful. unless its the only way to save someone, never just start shooting at them. most people will individually take these zeds and you would be far more helpful shooting trash or medium zeds instead. 4. take time to learn from someone or online some mechanics. this game has a ton of stuff to learn, and there are a lot of resources available. like how scrakes with melee weapons can be flinched indefinitely (as long as they dont take other damage from sources, which is why you never shoot at one getting flinch locked) on hard or lower, but can only be flinched once on suicidal and above, or how FPs have timers and damage thresholds before they rage that can be reset either by them swinging or loosing line of sight. hopefully you all still even with said stuff try this game! once you get over the learning curve its really fun!

"Good gore for 2009" We had gore, and it was glorious. Modern engines took that from us. KF has it because it was built on Unreal, which at the time, one of the three great classic FPS engines of the era. (Along with IDTech/Quake and Source)

A note about the healing also; it’s true you use the full charge on yourself and half on a teammate but ALSO if you heal yourself it only heals 20 points, if you heal a teammate it’s 50
@joelho8038
@joelho8038 Жыл бұрын
This is not correct, healing teammates only heals 20 but the fact that you can heal them twice gives them 2 shots of heal which allows you to heal a teammate 40.

My first HoE run was with two random European guys who were completely BAKED. We've been playing like for hours, just 3 of us and they fckn CARRIED me. Godly reaction, godly aim, memorized map layout and weapon spawn points, even the enemy count. One of the weirdest and entertaining moment of my gaming life.

Love that people still love Killing Floor 1. I love the gritty, dark art from the first game. It used to scare me as a kid .I think the series is still hella fucking underrated. Besides it having a lot of dlc's for weapons and maps I think its still a very solid game and the 2nd game improved a bit of the grind from the first game. Cant wait for Killing Floor 3!!!!

Fun fact! The potato was a part of Valve's Portal 2 ARG. An ARG that Valve did in preparation for the release of Portal 2 (duh) where they collabed with a ton of different indie games, players were encouraged to play these games and acquire the potato from some kind of bespoke content made specifically for this ARG. Hence why there's a portal map in KF1. For anyone who participated in that, you're welcome for the sudden and specific blast of nostalgia :)

Dude I was literally just watching your GTFO video the other day and wondering to myself if you'd ever make a Killing Floor video because it seems right up your alley. Holy shit. It's so nice seeing Killing Floor get the love and attention it deserves all this time later. I'm one of said veteran KF players with hundreds of hours in both games and literally grew up playing the first one on my shitty office laptop that could hardly run any games but could *juuuuust* handle KF on minimum settings. This game will always be so incredibly nostalgic and sentimental to me and is definitely responsible for my love of zombie and horde shooter games from then on. Can't wait for the KF2 video, it's gone on to be one of my favorite games of all time and I actually managed to surpass my KF1 hours over the years by my sheer addiction to that game when it came out.

I haven't played the first one too much, but the second consumed me at one point. Would like to point out 2 really cool details about the second: When you level up a class and get a reduced reload time, the animation isn't just sped up, it changes to a more stylish/effective one. And when you play at higher difficulties not only does the health and number of enemies increase, they also start to use more and different attacks. So the difficulty isn't just numerical, but mechanical as well. Love that game, looking forward to the next vid!

Kf1 never needed the extra movements to make it difficult and even if it did, it would make it just more difficult lol. Kf1 hoe despite being more basic compared to kf2 hoe is more difficult.

Not sure if it got left out or if they finally went the way of the dinosaur, but the modded servers are where it became something else (To me at least). If anyone's interested in booting it up, the modded servers are done through plugins, so you won't have to spend an hour checking a mod list.
