@@thursoberwick1948 They are no doubt both experiencing some set backs.I think it may be in response to their innately "old school" cultural traditions coming up against the excesses of " progressive" thinking .I have faith that they will pull out of it. Both have many specific economic, and thus also social, anxieties that are creating irrational responses.

@@markferguson3745 The Aussie writer Clive James once said that the problem wasn't that so many Australians were descended from convicts but that so many were descended from jailers. I have really enjoyed visiting Australia in the past, but I can't say I want to go back there in the current climate. As for Scotland, I live there.
