I can't even believe what I just heard. She is SO RIGHT! The point where she talks about gratitude holding her back and feeling guilt about asking for more. It has been a killer of dreams for parents and their children in some families. Thank You so much for bringing this fact to light. Seeking and Thanking has to be in balance because they complement each other. Thankfulness leads us to seeking more; and achieving that becomes a reason to be Thankful again. Gratitude should lift us up and not bind us down.

I love her perspective. It's so different. And inspiring. I wanted to mention, the hormonal doctor on hormones that said you shouldn't push in the gym during the beginning of your cycle is incorrect. I don't know one female that can push hard right before her cycle starts. We are TIRED, so even asking for a job raise? Yeah no. We don't have energy in the luteal phase, we are tired and not as happy and well bitchy. Estrogen needs to be on the high end for our body to metabolize carbs more efficiently and have the energy to go to the gym ans pound the weights. Estrogen is the hormone women feel the best during the first 14 days and then the second half (luteal phase) we want to eat alot of foods but our bodies metabolize fats better. I AM a true believer you can work with your body at any phase to optimize you! I know I'm not my best in inspiring and helping my last week before my cycle so I do more activities for organization and planning business wise! I hope that helps many understand 🙏

“I’m my own hero!” That brought chills to my spine and a tear to my eye. So many juicy nuggets in this interview. In the beginning when she talked about gratitude holding her back, I felt a huge exhalation. I’ve felt that for years, but it’s such a contrary opinion. I deeply appreciate you both. I have to especially thank Lisa for confirming something I knew but never said out loud. Be well!

I am so glad that Lisa elaborated on being grateful, and how you can use that as a negative way to keeps you stuck. Many of us as caretakers of family, spouse, dogs, etc.., will naturally go there, and you have shed some light on how we need to be careful about what we are grateful for and how we put it into context for ourselves. For 20 years I was grateful for family, but now I am grateful for the things that I see outside of myself. This is a huge "Get Un-Stuck" tool. Can't wait to read about the squirrel.

I am a regular listener of the Ed Mylett show and I just have to say...Lisa says some points that just HIT. This is by far one of the best ones I've yet to hear. I think these points are very relatable for many people, such as using gratitude to hide you or keep you from growing. Seeing the female perspective too, Lisa is intelligent, strong, and now that I know her at a deeper level I admire her and respect her so much more. She has touched me and I appreciate her honesty and transparent way of saying things. To LIsa all the negative comments out there they come from a different state of mind..don't let that get to your head, you're doing something right, a true inspiration and you are amazing.

This was so good! I have been recently diagnosed with MS and this podcast couldn’t have come a better time. I have been giving myself grace to feel everything I need to and mourn but in doing that I came out of that feeling so much better. I now feel like I have my power back, in the past my optimistic personality mixed with people pleasing I would have blown through that never allowing myself to get upset and “push” through. That methods I believe led to my gut issues and Auto immune disease. I love how Lisa dancing with the negative voice and uses her as a guide and a teacher. That’s what I try and walk my clients through in life coaching. Ed thank you again for an amazing show with an amazing human.

Wow... what a wild and new perspective about gratitude... it is actually possible that it can limit you. I personally have thought about the idea of being content and how I'm supposed to have peace and happiness by being content, but being content does not allow for change and for growth. This is a totally new way of thought for me. We can be grateful but we don't have to be "content."

I woke up this morning in a state of anxiousness “what about this” “what about that” “who do you think you are” “how do I get better” - then I turned to gratitude, and still felt empty - then guilt. I am part of a husband wife team, the very words Lisa spoke about that hit home. The 3 phone calls -I felt that, and the conversation Lisa had with herself punched me in the face. Thank you Ed and Lisa for this eye opener conversation.
@EdMylettShow2 жыл бұрын
So glad this reached you! What part of Lisa’s conversation hit you the hardest?
@blancaschaffer2 жыл бұрын
@@EdMylettShow there are so many power points to this conversation, but what hit me the most was when she stated “I was unhappy and waiting for my husband to do some about it, the external part”. I love being a business partner with my husband and fully support his vision for our family but I’m not happy doing “his work” which I know is OURS but I’m not happy. I am so grateful for what he does and I know he would support my change to walk in my power. The thought/bitch voice of “who do you think you are?’ creep in and so I stay, not making a shift. Ed, I’ve been in One year of therapy and I’ve not even heard anything like what Liaa has shared. Thank you for having her on.

I so agree with you Lisa, it is important to be grateful for the luck in our lives yet being positive all the time is blinding ourselves to what can be improved, a lot of the spiritual communities are just putting a bandaid on the real problems of society because we feel so small sometimes, how could I change such a huge problem?? Ohh, life is not that bad after all, change topic. Sometimes we do manifest with the power of our mind and sometimes it just leads to deeper matters that we can't fix on our own. As Russel Brunson says, if you want to go faster, go alone, if you want to go further, work together.

This is so great-so relevant for me right now. As a writer-I never thought I’d struggle with fear of failure, or insecurities like I heard all writers go through…but wow…I sure did/have once I got rolling-EVERYTHING showed up! So many “ gold nuggets” here Lisa and Ed! Getting this book for sure ❤️ Also Lisa, I just want to add…I think it probably helped so many people when you explained the process of setting boundaries with your mom, and your willingness to pivot a bit and show her grace to be herself, and explaining to us how the final compromise that you settled on looked. When learning to set boundaries-I’ve seen (in myself and others) that there can be a fierce rigid phase when people don’t see that compromise and considering the other persons needs is important too. I love all your examples and word pictures 😄👍
