Downdraft is a double diamond rated trail accessible off the K-1 Express Gondola (as well as a few other lifts) at Killington. It starts with a headwall (that is barely open) that funnels into a wider, groomed upper section before plunging back into steep bumps.
The day this was filmed saw temperatures of 50°F, so a lot of the snow from the storms earlier that week had quickly melted by the time the day began. However, snow coverage wasn't particularly bad given the circumstances!
Advice: There are many places to enter the trail at different difficulties. The headwall (in my opinion) the most challenging part, followed by the lower part. The upper and middle sections have exits onto slightly easier trails (Great Northern and Cascade, respectively) which are both generally groomed. Otherwise, it's just a matter of stamina!
Overall Difficulty: 7/10
Relative Difficulty (Double Diamond): 5/10
Accessibility Rating: 7/10 (Headwall is only accessible from K-1 but the rest is relatively easy to get to)
Enjoyment Rating: 6/10 (headwall was pretty rocky but the rest was fine)
I still consider myself a beginner in terms of my experience with my GoPro. I hope to improve the camera angle later on, although I am pretty satisfied with the angle in this video!
