I know this video is about the correct and the formal ways to dress up in kilt hose. I would to say, we over here in Celtic kilt lands, Ireland and Scotland have been wearing sandals with no hose these last couple of years. And fun thing, the world still rolls on. LoL I don't know what the situation is regarding the above in England and Wales.

I bought a pair of kilt hose yesterday that ended up coming a third of the way up my thigh. I'm 5'10". I told the seller that I wear a size 9 (US) shoe, and he handed me these hose that the label had fallen off of. I just checked their site, and their "large" size spans shoe size 9-13. No wonder they're big, spanning from my size to my 6'3" father's size.

I currently live in the Middleofnowhere, South Dakota and would like to know if anyone knows of places to buy kilts in the upper midwest? Since I have never worn a kilt I would like to start out at a lower cost. If I do decide that it is for me I will be going for a very nice kilt from USA Kilts.

Stillwater kilt in MN has a decent 100% woolen for $100. Unfortunately, it's made in Pakistan.

You might try J. Higgins, LTD in Kansas also. Or just get a PV kilt from USA Kilts.

So I had a question and maybe somebody can help me on my way. So I have been thinking a while about getting a kilt I have no clan or Scottish heritage, but have been thinking about how to give meaning about my first kilt and the tartan. So I remembered that a Scottish division liberated my city and was thinking is there a way of finding a tartan that might be connected to a person from the division maybe it is to much? Idk any help would be appreciated.

There are plenty of general tartans, I have plain black and grey ones too, no need for tartans unless you want tartan specifically?

If you know what division it was, it shouldn't be hard to find their associated tartan. There aren't really rules or laws about what tartan(s) a person can wear. Wearing a tartan is often considered an expression of support for the group or clan it represents and as such it's good manners to know something about the group and be able to explain why you express support for them. For example, "I'm not Scottish but the Seaforth Highlanders (or whoever it actually was) liberated my city and I show my support and appreciation by wearing their tartan." is in my opinion completely valid and a very nice way to honor those soldiers. You can certainly also choose a tartan that is unaffiliated with a group or clan. I like your idea to honor the soldiers who had an impact upon your city's history and encourage you to find out which unit it was. Once you have that, finding out which tartan they wore should be relatively easy.

@@itsapittie I am from the Netherlands and it was the 15th Scottish infantry Division. And I understand that there are no laws about it. But I still really would like my first kilt to have this extra meaning to it. And to express a gratitude I guess.

@3:25 Wait ... is THAT how you pronounce that? I've been saying it with a far more French sounding pronunciation.
