#CarCrash #KimWexler #BetterCallSaul
From Season 3, Episode 9 'Fall' - Jimmy visits a friend and takes up an old pastime as Chuck and Hamlin argue over the future of the firm. Meanwhile, Kim faces challenges.
Watch now!: play.google.com/store/tv/show...
Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

December of last year, I was driving for DoorDash just to have some extra money on the side due to the Pandemic. Unfortunately, at my day job, I had the office reputation of being reliable. By that, I mean I volunteered more than once to help coworkers finish work that they were supposed to be doing themselves but couldn't because "family emergency, dog needs to go the vet, etc". The usual bs. Huge mistake. Should have been a matador instead of a doormat. Anyway, I was extremely exhausted from a lack of sleep from finishing my "ailing" coworker's work that night before. It was dark and I was passing by a highschool that had construction going on. I dozed off for a few seconds and I struck an orange waterfilled construction barrier that sat in the middle of the lane I was in because the school had parking spots along the street. The airbag didn't deploy. I was wearing a seatbelt but that didn't stop me from slamming my head and body slamming into the driver's side door and window. My GMC Canyon's front was shattered; radiotator was smoking, and the truck was leaking fluid. I honest to God thought it was going to catch fire. I called a friend, who works at the dealership I purchased the truck from, for help. When he got there, he said the truck may still by drivable. It was stupid to try but I took my chances. The truck, messed up as it was, got me back to my house that was two miles away and my friend followed me in his car in case things went south. I called the school early the next morning to let them know what occured and gave them my number. Sure enough, a cop came by 20 minutes after I made the call. He was already in my driveway looking at my truck before he rang my doorbell. The accident was caught on a security camere and the cop said I was supposed to contact & wait for the authorities to arrive instead of leaving. But since I called the school and no real harm was done, I caught a break. Still, one of the most scary experiences I had. I had nightmares about car crashes for months. And yes, I let my employers know what happened. They could see the huge bruise on my forehead so there was no reason to doubt. I made it clear that I was through doing favors for everyone and I put in my two weeks notice not long after the crash. They offered me a respectable pay raise to stay. I told them if they really cared about me, they wouldn't have waited for a two week notice to give me a pay raise. Hell, they should have offered it the moment they saw my injuries. Funny how some companies take you for granted and only realize your worth when your foot is halfway out the door.

@ivankuzin8388
@ivankuzin8388 2 жыл бұрын
Terrifyingly accurate. I was once driving down a highway after about 36-37 hours of no sleep (I was young and stupid). I went up a large hill, saw a very long stretch of road going down, it was in the middle of the night and so almost empty, in the bottom of the valley few km ahead was a yellow dot. Next thing I remember I am realizing that right in front of me is big glowing yellow road works sign. I have no idea how I have not crashed there, there was no distance to stop, I pulled left and managed to catch a car. I think I was asleep for about a minute while speeding downhill, but for me it was a split second.

@@ivankuzin8388 when I was about 20 my grandma had to go to the hospital it was about 3pm, well see I work graveyards so that's right around the time I usually went to sleep. Anyway, I take her down and wait in the waiting room. I was tired but there was no way I was going to sleep with all those people around. She was in for about 5 hours. When I get her it was dark out and she was on some sort of pain meds. Anyway, she was zonked out so there was no conversation in the car aside from her telling me she was cold (it was winter) so I blast the heater and we head back home. About halfway back I'm on a rarely used highway with a lot of forestry. We're going over this mountain with no guardrails and about a 500 foot drop if you went off it. With everything going on I must have fallen asleep, didn't know I did until a few seconds later when I wake up and see this deer in the middle of the road. By some unnatural act I managed to evade the deer and not go off the cliff. I don't know if I had some guardian angel but I definitely learned my lesson that night. Doesn't matter how important you think whatever you need to do is, if you're tired get a nap in, even just a short one but don't drive.

well, if you look at her (very good) acting. She is actually falling asleep due to extreme exhaustion. That's called "micro sleep" and the sudden cut is because she wasnt conscious for the last 1-2 seconds and the sudden impact woke her up. Truly a scary experience. Imagine waking up to smoke, pain and a totally unknown situation where you don't even know how you got there until you manage to process it together with the realisation that you could have very well died just now without ever realising it.

"laryngeal spasm" did this to me, and it was utterly terrifying experience. I got two pneumonias that almost killed me, 18 months apart in 2018-2019. I had fits of coughing so severe, it cut the oxygen supply to my brain and I fainted. *laryngeal spasm* Happened exactly like Kim car crash. My throat started aching, I started coughing, within a split second coughing cut my breath, no more oxygen to the brain, brain shut down, and poof. Awoke 5 seconds later, usually on the ground. By pure luck, never got brain trauma. Had to spend a week in the hospital to cure the pneumonia, and later got nose micro-surgery to stop the recurring illnesses. Turned out my nose was internally wrecked, and it triggered infection, then bronchitis, then pneumonia, then sore throat, then coughing, then the fainting. Was terrifying.

I think, the scene is exactly as long as it needs to be, showing how Kim is slowly zoning out without being totally obvious with it. To show the crash immediately after she finishes her line ("..bla, bla, fair") would not be as believable.

This is how my accident was. One second you're driving and all is normal. The next thing your car's imploded, you're covered in pain, and it smells like gunpowder and burnt oil (from the chemical reaction in the airbags). Someone ran a red light and t-boned me. Like this mixed with Star Wars ESB when Luke crashes.

Been there too. Almost went off the road 8 years ago after fighting the snoozies for like half an hour on this painfully long and boring stretch of highway in Maine. As usual, it happened just before the exit we were going to take to fill up and switch drivers, because that's when you let your guard down. The rumble strip saved me, and my husband was like, "Are you falling asleep?!" Dude... I've been falling asleep for 30 minutes. I made sure it never got that bad again. Now when I get into the sleepy zone, I will insist on switching drivers if someone else can drive, or get a snack (snacking is great to wake you up).

3:12 Starting from there, when I first watched the scene, I really entered a whole lot of thoughts. My first thought was: She is completely overworked, so there will be an event of burning out in any way. Then I remembered: Wait, Kim was not shown a single time in Breaking Bad. ... Will Kim actually die here? Is that the scene, where Saul Goodmann will loose Kim? And the longer the scene dragged on, the more I was convinced, that Kim will die. The Crash did not shock me, I was glad, that she survived. I really was.

this scene is so unbelievably deep to me in it's meaning and the fallowup-thoughts are kinda inspiring and enlightening. And obviously to many others aswell. As numerous people before me already said: it's super well shot, in it's function and effect on the viewers mind and imagination, aswell as just "visually clean". And as one of the most-liked comms here said (very interesting): the anxiety that builds up (and i fight alot with it, due to numerous reason, so i can relate, as probably many others can aswell), the chattering of Jimmy, her pressure, her nightshift (lack of sleep), the focusing on the speech, driving, timepressure - just all together. And Jimmys sentence about "ready to get your life changed". Great stuff. That's probably one of those rare things, that make movies and series so damn great.

I love the way every second of this scene is done.. with one exception, why did the trunk open? I know it is for the effect from the flying papers but the papers should be flying because the trunk opened and not the other way around. There is no logical explanation to this which is quite rare in the better call Saul and braking bad series.

Firefighter/EMT here: I’ve seen it happen. I dunno why to be honest, I think some cars just have a less than stellar latch on the trunk so if you bump the car with enough force to literally deform it, it’ll jump the latch.

Once, I nodded off while driving my brother to school. We were only spared an accident by the fact that the vehicle swerved to the left-we were in the left lane, and the car sounded an alarm as it slid onto the curb-and not to the right, where other vehicles were moving at over 70 km/h. It really feels like this.

This was an amazing representation of what getting a serious injury is like. I broke my arm in July of this year, and it was just like this. You don't remember the way down, you're just there, on the floor in pain. You can sense the adrenaline, nothing feels real. You're not sure what happened entirely, and your body shakes from fear, confusion, and just being in survival mode with all the adrenaline pumping through your body. It takes forever for everything to feel normal again, and by that time, it's not so bad anymore luckily.

I had a coworker recently who fell asleep driving from work and they hit a log truck semi head on. They were driving an oversized lifted 4 door F250 pickup and the pictures of the collision were incomprehensible. The whole front end was caved in all the way to the bed of the truck. It looked like a twisted pile of metal that didn't even look like it ever was a vehicle to begin with. Miraculously they survived but were severely injured (broke both legs in several places, a bunch of ribs, broken arm, collapsed lung full of blood, and broken face that requires many surgeries to name a few). It reminded me of this scene. Lesson is don't risk driving tired. It's just as bad if not worse than driving drunk. Your life isn't worth risking for ANY job.
