What amazes me the most isn't simply the quality of his work, it's how he can produce work like this purely from imagination with no references, no guide lines and do so 10x quicker than most pros.
@Dahpie5 жыл бұрын
I actually disagree that's it's a good thing he toned down his sexual works. The fact that he has expressed how he is saddened by the fact he has had to do this due to his more widespread reputation feels like the exact opposite of being an artist. It's all about artistic expression and he should be free to draw whatever he wants without being burdened by the more politically correct nature of society.

I agree.. if visual (or textual also btw) sexual content (here in drawing) is needed to free inner expressions of searching for meaningness and discovery regarding sexuality, then so be it. It's done with great expertise and inner insightfull knowledge and understanding and thus also full awareness then it has a green light in my book of views. Also.. in this way it can have an impact on audiences as a mirror for reflecting the viewer 's own sexual feelings, thoughts, visions or longings. It al comes down to points of perspective all around, some directly and perhaps blatantly, some more refined metaphorical translational. Some more focused on the technical aspects of drawing, or the mental, or the metaphysical, or.. and so on, some even all together at once. I think the world of people and spirits can be happy and gratefull for people like Kim Jung Gi. I know I am. Makes me feel less alone. Thank you all also, people who can appreciate art at it's fullest. Let's keep on drawing, if only te be one with it all again.

Amazing! I have a friend who met him in Texas and after his demonstration, he talked to Kim Jung Gi for quite awhile. As they were talking, Kim was drawing in my friend's book..Then he signed it. As he was leaving, Kim's assistant told my friend to hang onto the sketch he did in his book as he normally charged roughly $20,000 for it!

I wish I could afford his work. He's pretty amazing. Reminds me of when I was 15. Not that I had his background to pull from... I mean that I would work as much as I wanted without being stifled by necessity and irrelavent outside influence. Too bad self publishing wasnt a thing back then. He's probably my single favorite illustrator, counting Geoff Darrow and Sam Keith. Thanks for sharing, and for the feedback on the quality of production. After seeing your great review I ordered a copy from the US site-it arrived quickly but it’s NOT the same quality ☹️ The last pages are small, loose sheets, what look like photocopies, actually split in the middle of the drawing, and it just looks (I hate to say this) cheap. I wrote the contact address right away last week and I hope someone gets in touch. But I wanted to give people the heads up that there might be a problem and they might want to wait to order until it’s resolved. 😐
@SPQRKlio6 жыл бұрын
Hi! I just wanted to follow up on my comment. It took a while to reach someone from the online store but they finally said to come see them at their table at New York Comic Con. The woman representing the shop said it’s impossible you could have a book with a bound-in full-size gatefold as we can see in the review, and that all the books, no matter where you get them from, have two little loose sheets of paper tucked in at the back! She didn’t look at the review, but she did offer a refund; I debated what to do for a while, but in the end I returned the book and am awaiting the refund now. I enjoy Kim Jung Gi’s art and have most of his other art books, but oddly enough, seeing the gatefold in your review was the deciding factor for me to spend so much money this year, and the customer service was the deciding factor in me deciding to take the refund. I’m wondering, where did you purchase your copy? Did you order from one of the Kim Jung Gi websites? (I’ll check the video and description again to see if you mention that.). Anyway: Thank you for this review and the other reviews of his books!

@@teohyc Yea, separation isn't a problem for me.
