It already existed over ten years ago too, I remember a Buzzfeed list of weird products including a bra designed to give a lifted braless look with nipples sculpted on. She isn't even original or clever with it, she's just after another profitable business idea to put her name on, and treats climate change like a joke. Good point too about the classic Kardashian behaviour of glamourising something that those in working class settings get discriminated against for. Like yeah, nipples out could be a cheeky lil fashion moment to opt in and out of...if people weren't constantly harassed and subjugated for it when they have nipples visible for functional reasons (bras aren't comfy, and can be hard to fit on some bodies) It's giving "Kim invented high fashion cornrows" meanwhile POC who've worn then for years are still assigned a bunch of negative stereotypes for wearing them to actually protect their hair.

So, I don't follow Kim K. I just don't have interest in her or her lifestyle. Tbh I'm not entirely sure why she's popular? You are by far my favorite KZbinr. You remind me a lot of myself and are someone I aspire to be more like as well. I’m a huge environmentalist but I am always learning. Your videoed have taught me so much and have really opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about sustainability, green washing, ecominslmism, etc. I saw this commercial on instagram a little ways back and I have to say our reactions to it were so dramatically different. I guess I skimmed over the first part that was commenting on climate change and instead was outraged that someone was trying to sell a product that we could easily get the same results for free by just not wearing a bra. Ive been a huge advocate for the free the nipple movement and haven’t worn one since 2012. This was one of those instances where I heard you in the back of my mind yelling “BUY LESS”. There is absolutely no reason to purchase this item. In a tmi moment, my nips are ALWAYS hard. It doesn’t have to be cold outside, the fabric rubbing against them does this so if I can have hard nips 24/7 so can anyone else by just removing their bra. Btw on a side note when I get angry I cry too. It just goes to show how upset this really made you and I could feel it! I really hope that more people start to think and act as you do. One gross part about this product is that yes, you can achieve the ‘nipple look’ by not wearing a bra at all, but it will undoubtedly prey on people’s self-confidence on whether their nipples are the right size, in the right place, etc. Sure, you can show your nipples, but this bra helps you show off the perfect nipples, which you don’t have. 🤦🏻♀️🫠

I want to give some neutral feedback, but I want to let you know that I really respect you and you have genuinely helped me become a more eco conscious person. I hope you will do more videos about creating community and put your efforts into doing that. It seems to me that a lot of your videos are about what not to do, the problem with big companies, etc. This is good, but I think we need to focus on building communities that are environmentally conscious and sustainable. I also think it may be making you unhappy to focus so much on who is making the problem worse. I would love to see some content about that. Maybe come green influencers coming together to educate or develop an app to help promote local resources? I know it can be scary to recommend resources, because we can be wrong, but, I say this with respect, I feel there is a choice here to be a "zero waste influencer" or a green educator. And I think you have been and can be the later. That is the content I love most from you. So my suggestion is maybe do a series on "green initiatives in [city]". Then list out some resources in the top 10 American cities. Or collab with Australian/English youtubers to do their areas as well.

Why not go further back and try to regulate these companies before or during their production cycle, rather than after when the product is already on the store shelf? I would LOVE a ban on virgin plastic, where it would force big companies to only use recycled plastic (or a better material entirely), and require them to implement free and accessible recycling programs for their products. We've gotta figure out a way to get to closed-loop business models - or what I'd call adjacent-loop models - because waste will keep piling up, plastic or not. Adjacent-loop businesses would be required to collaborate with a business(s) that can take each others waste and use it in their own products. Ex: I saw a video about an Asian business the other day that takes pineapple skin waste from a fruit business, and they turn those pineapple skins into personal care products so that the pineapple skins don't go into the landfill. But yeah, unfortunately like you said, the U.S. government is currently controlled by these big companies and they'd never allow for the passage of laws that regulate them more, if they can help it. And the vast majority of (federal-level) politicians are spineless crooks who are in office simply to enrich themselves. They don't care about making the world better or holding accountable those who are hurting the world. We desperately need a mass revolution! And we, the average citizens, need to take advantage of the Constitution's permission that allows us to overthrow our government when it no longer serves the people...which is long overdue!

Great video! I'm from a country where EV's now make up the majority of new vehicles bought, and where electricity comes from renewable sources, and I STILL think the focus on EV's is used to greenwash the auto industry. It's also an excuse for politicians to not do real work to improve public transit infrastructure, but keep building highways and centring cars. EV's still contribute to congestion, and are a danger to cyclists and pedestrians! But they don't care. Politicians patting themselves on the back for the EV market share while completely neglecting rail infrastructure and efficient bus services, effectively forcing people to get cars (ev or not) out of lack of options drives me up a wall I swear! EV's can be a part of the solution, not THE solution smh.

As someone who has a small handmade buisness I spend weeks and MONTHS researching the best stuff, emailing and calling manufacturers and still it’s so hard to find sustainably and ethically made materials . I’m 100% always going to to that because I CANNOT STAND the bs and greenwashing but I wish more companies were transparent and had tradable materials so smaller businesses and even consumers can make the right choices. We shouldn’t have to make being kind to the earth and other people hard to do .ever.

I work for a sustainability consulting company focused on reducing plastic waste, and I've seen so many businesses fall into the trap of green-washing, specifically related to "compostable", "biodegradable" containers. 1. They're literally not lol (unless you have a state of the art composting facility that specializes in those products - which no one has) and 2. They're 2-3x more expensive than traditional plastic, non-biodegradable materials, and 3. Many of these are made with PFAS, chemicals added to create a grease barrier on the container, which do not break down and instead accumulate over time and are linked to multiple health conditions (cancers, liver damage, weakened immune systems, etc ) It's always so frustrating for the business owners to realize they've been spending MORE money on stuff that is WORSE for the environment and our health. So for current and future business owners, compostable products are okay as long as they are BPI-certified. Like she said in the video, keep an eye out for vague descriptions and items that seem too good to be true. They probably are! Let me know if you have any questions. 😁

Wait, that wasn't an SNL sketch or something?
@Stephinachan13 Жыл бұрын
You mean this wasnt a horrible SNL skit? Cause thats the vibe its giving... not promoting an actual product. Can we just get fake nip stickers or patches people can affix to their own bras or stick to their skin (for those that want the hard nip look). Its not for me but i can see how someone who had surgery and lost them may want to have them

Mostly unrelated to the video, but where did you get your keffiyeh? I wanted to get one and I've been looking but I really would prefer to shop from a Palestinian store, just want to make sure I'm buying mine from a real source. 🇵🇸

Exactly!! The problem with the joke she made is that she's unironically BECOMING and profiting off of being exactly the punchline of an actually rather dark joke. Like we'd make this joke punching up at her, because the only thing more ridiculous than billionaire ignorance and vanity projects, is the idea that they'd irresponsibly leverage climate change for purely marketing reasons. And then she goes and makes it real, and hence no longer funny or clever, just a bit sad. How do we even make exagerated jokes about out of touch billionaires anymore to try step back from the painful reality, when the reality just is the joke. There are plenty of billionaires who actively harm the planet more than the Kardashians do in their publicity attempts, but it's probably the best move for them to accept the end of their era and quietly just enjoy their extremely privileged lives out of our public view, while we focus on things that actually matter and enjoy art/media that exploits less than they do.
