I love this quilt and the colors are stunning! Appreciate the explanation about sewing the strips on the bias and how/ to pin and sew the binding on the bias. So often, tutorials mention sewing on the bias but don't explain it. Great job!

Thank you for responding to my comment so quickly. The strips CANNOT just be "flipped" like you suggested in your solution. I flipped them every way possible. I even tried flipping the material over & cutting it out from the back side. The stripes did not zigzag. Maybe it's me!!! I ended up laying down the first panel & then laying individual strips down, making the zigzag. Then I sewed those strips together, making another long panel that can be cut into two 9.5" x 34.5" panels to complete the entire zigzag look. The 2.5" strips needed to be sewn different. I am a hands on person & I have to see it to get it. My way might have been the hard way, but I could not figure any other way to do it. And, my blanket looks beautiful! It was totally worth all the stress I have been through! Thanks again for your help!!!!

I have watched this tutorial dozens of times. I love this quilt and have wanted to make it. I have finally gotten up the courage to do the applique. That is the only part I was worried about.......so I thought. I did the applique and No Problem! Then came the strips. I did not have a problem with them stretching, but when I went to put them together, I could not get them to have the zigzag look as in the tutorial. All my stripes went the same way. Was I supposed to cut the panels a different way for the stripes to angle a different way? And if so, you need to tell us that. I am a self-taught quilter, I have learned everything through tutorials and trial and error. I feel like I am pretty experienced now but this tutorial left a lot out. She cut out ONE panel. She didn't tell show us how to make the other panels or how many rollies to use. I sewed my entire rollie together and ended up wasting half of it. I got 3 panels out of it, I need 4 to make the quilt, plus these 3 panels all go the same way so I really can only use 2 of them. I need to make another rollie in the exact same pattern and figure out how to cut them so they will lay opposite of the first two panels. I hope this makes sense and that you an help me figure this out. I do not mean to be critical because I really do love this quilt. I just think it could be explained in a little more detail. I hope it has not been too long since it was first shown. Thanks!

Hi Nancy, I apologize for the issues you are having with this tutorial. They only touched on the fact that your strips would need to be flipped to create the chevron effect at about 19.38. I think you can still use what you have made if you take the three pieced strips apart and flip them around until they make the chevron pattern you see in the tutorial. It looks like you only need three striped strips plus your applique strip to complete the quilt. I hope that makes sense. I'm glad you were successful with your applique. Best, Riley Blake Designs

I went to her website and bought the pattern for both quilt and seat cover for $10 US dollars. I purchased the hard copy, but you can choose an instant download. I knew I wanted to make this quilt without having the same issues as you have had. Main Street Market Designs.com

Beautiful project! Love the colors you have used. I just competed my first diagonal baby quilt & I love the look of it. I have seen several videos where the method of using two rulers side by side to get the measurement needed was used and it always leaves me scratching my head wondering why. Please understand I am not in any way trying to be rude here, I know there must be a good explanation for this & I just need to know. Since you are also using a ruled cutting mat, why are you not using the mat as your measurement guide along with your straight edge ruler to guide you for your cuts? I hope I stated that correctly so it is not confusing. It just seems you are not using the cutting mat & guide to its intended potential. Am I wrong in thinking this? Again, LOVE your quilt design & that it is also backed by a beautiful print. I tend to use a solid print on the backs of my quilts & I see here, I should consider using prints. Adorable!!! Thank you for sharing your video.

+Vanessa Monteith Generally most people don't use the lines on the mat as they can be off and it can wear your mat down faster (the constant cuts in the same places). A lot of quilters find that the rulers tend to be more accurate and you don't have to fiddle with getting the fabric in just the right spot on the mat. I myself don't use the mat lines anymore and I've found my cuts to be better. Hope that helps. :)

Hello, Can you please tell me how many pieces of fabric are in a rolie polie? I love this toddler quilt and really want to give it a try. Thanks!!
@RileyBlakeDesigns7 жыл бұрын
Hi April, Rolie Polies (or Jelly Rolls) usually come in two sizes - 21 piece and 42 piece. The 21 piece has one of each print and the 42 piece has two of each. Thanks for asking. Good luck with your project!
@aprilbuckland79557 жыл бұрын
Therefore, would I need 2, 21 piece jelly rolls or 2, 42 piece jelly rolls? Thank you!

Can you please confirm how many jelly rolls I would need? They do not indicate in the video, nor in the pdf, how many pieces are in each jelly roll. Do I need 2, 21 piece jelly rolls or 2, 42 piece jelly rolls? Thank you!

One jelly roll should make the project. I apologize for the discrepancy. Thank you for being so persistent and taking the time to ask.

Thank you, can you tell me how many strip sets you need for this size? Directions say, 2 Rollie pollies, which makes me think you need several sets.
@RileyBlakeDesigns5 жыл бұрын
@@dianabello4388 Our Rolie Polies (or jelly rolls) have 40 strips of fabric. This is standard for Riley Blake. The video asks that you purchase 2 rolie polies (or jelly rolls) in order to have enough strips to make the quilt. The pattern is available for purchase online, which will contain more detailed instructions than are shown in the video. I hope this helps: mainstreetmarketdesigns.com/product/daisies-toddler-quilt-car-seat-cover/
