I can’t braid but never thought of using multiple scunci for the bun in the second style. I’m a guy with long hair who trains. Thank you.

Yes! Thank you!!!! I’m going to try the braided bun for sure. My fave right now is 2 half French braids and a pineapple bun!

I loveee french braids! I wish i could do them quickly on myself

Can you do what to wear under your gi? I'm struggling with the bras & keeping cool. I'm new & overweight, trying my best. I'm loving training & all your videos.

Yes I can :) Keep pushing! You’re doing great by even just showing up and giving it your best :)

THANK YOU❤❤!! I really struggle with my hair staying up, as well as I'm very picky with my hair lol probably gonna try a high braid tonight for class so we'll see how it goes

I'm really glad I found your channel! I am a woman who just started BJJ. It feels like the scariest most intimidating thing to start. My gym is not able to do rolling or partner drills yet because of COVID but is hoping to open up to that in the next month. We have been learning on dummies and I have done a couple of private lessons as I didn't even know how to somersault LOL. I love watching your videos for inspiration!

I'm so glad you're here! Jiu jitsu was probably the most intimidating thing I've done, so I hear ya! Lol. I was there too, I had no idea how to move my body like that as an adult, BUT, keep practicing and keep training and you'll see just how much progress you'll make :)

These were pretty helpful. I was planning on getting back to judo and my hair is longer than ever (reaches belt) and pretty thick stuff. The best option I could come up in my mind was low starting braid tucked under the neck of the gi, right down the back. Yet to see how it works in action, but back in the day I remember longer hair being a problem on a ponytail, not because it would get ruined but because it would pull the scalp and be in between everything even when the technique didn't focus on that area.

Still looking for ways and ended up back here. To do an update: don't put it braided down your collar. It'll make a perfect tightener for chokes, as if you had an additional hand between your neck and gi. I think there just isn't a good solution for really long hair. The buns are way too big to roll over or to lie on. And the free swinging braid will smack your partner or you in the face like a mace. I also tried a braided bun and it was good other than it will slip out and it's really dense so rolling on it isn't that fun. The top bun is great other than that it feels like you had a cone on your head and doing ukemis over it is about the worst thing.

My “go to” is to French braid the crown part of my head and bun it up along with the rest of my hair in a back of the head bun. Oss😆

interesting topic which few guys can understand. As a guy with long hair for life, my long hair had been such a struggle in my training. Keeping it short is not an option, I have tried few styles and my answer was the top bun haha.
@kimberlykinch2 жыл бұрын
Hahah, such a struggle! Yes the top bun is my staple too :D

I usually do a super high ponytail and wrap it with 2 more scrunchies. Do you still get shedding after hardrolls? Just wanted to know if i should be alarmed 😅😂
@kimberlykinch9 ай бұрын
My hair does shed a bit for sure! But I've never noticed shedding particularly from rolling, unless someone rips my hair out haha.

Hello!! How do you keep your hair so healthy? I feel like the buns and all the struggle my hair goes through while training damages my hair
@kimberlykinch5 ай бұрын
Hi! This video was a few years ago so I've tried to implement a hair care routine since then! A hair mask 1x a week, oiling my hair, leave in conditioner, etc. I think breakage from jiu jitsu is inevitable honestly and it was only from taking a year off when all my ripped off baby hairs grew back in hahah.

Hmmm I’m not entirely sure anything really works to get bruises to go away faster. You can try Arnica gel.

In BJJ don't we all just wish we could be egg heads as ladies? Pulled hair is never fun, love the tips and I'm def trying out the double ties...the single just isn't cutting it some days!

Hahaha if I could comfortably not have any hair for BJJ, that'd be great lol. Yesss double ties help! :)

@@kimberlykinch I tried doing a pixie cut a couple of years ago and it was amazing for BJJ...but then I missed having longer hair outside of BJJ so I ended up growing it back out again. :P
