The eye thing was an artistic choice. It was also like that in the manga. It creates an uneasy feeling it's not that they didn't have eyes. Fantastic episode. Probably my favourite of the series. Mappa delivered a phenomenal episode

I took it as a reference to two things, one of them is the thing the first Fritz King said, "Slaves have no need for those"(eyes), and Kenny saying everyone is a slave to something, slaves having "no eyes" is clearly because tehy're slaves, the rest tho, are slaves to something else, their king, their desires, whatever.

I think the artistic choice of showing eyes was an expression of the hopeless and controlled lives Ymir and the other slaves led because of the king. Ymir had the worst fate. BTW great reaction as always, loving your consistency.

Eren's nature is that if anyone tries to take his freedom away, he won't hesitate to kill them. The world has shown its hand that they want to take his freedom away, so he's going to kill them all to preserve it. The implication is that Ymir (who has been said to be able to shape the Eldian people to whatever she wills) created him to be this way, hoping it would lead to this exact scenario, offering her the chance to be freed from the hell she found herself in.

The eye thing was an artistic choice the same way Eren's eyes were very shadowy in the previous episode when he was standing over Grisha. It creates suspense because with characters, the eyes are very telling of what they're thinking and stuff. So us not seeing the eyes and not knowing what they're thinking, most of the time it is used to show us that the owner of such eyes is very depressed, dead or having malicious thoughts.

@@raaahj I disagree. First of all, the whole world is not against him. Not every single person has declared war on Paradis, only the leaders of some countries. I guess you wouldn't want some afghan boy to kill every US citizen because his family was killed in a drone strike, would you? Millions and millions of civilians are not responsible for what is happening to the people on Paradis. Secondly, to say that he doesn't have any other option is not true. He could do many pragmatic things to resolve this conflict. One simple thing would be to follow Armins plan, and to use the rumbling just as a deterrent by destroying the unified forces and to send a message to leave them alone. Eren and co. have the right to protect themselves, but they don't have the right to kill every other person in the world.

Even if the majority of marleyans are hostile towards eldians, that doesn't mean that every one of them is like that. And those people who are the exception don't deserve to be killed. 3. The people of Marley have been brainwashed by the military propaganda. Again, that's not their fault and not every one of them deserves to be be murdered. You can also turn the brainwashing around, see even Gabi (who is really stubborn) has changed her mind. 4. "Armin may be willing to reason, but is the world willing to listen?" - You could at least give them a chance before deciding to kill 95% of the worlds population. 5. Since Eren has this much power, he could just simply say to the world: "Hey, leave us eldians alone, and in return I will not send the rumbling." Eren does have choices, but he chose to go with the easiest one from a racist point of view: to eradicate everyone else. This really makes him the ultimate evil, and a racist genocidal maniac. There's no way around this fact.

For me, nah, i just cant see him as a "villain" or "evil" he is the product of the rest of the world viewing (and using) all the Eldians as weapons. Or treating them like a disaster/menace, people that need to get mass murdered/exterminated, used as weapons or kept in a cage without memories or knowledge in order for the rest of the world to live in "peace". Its like trying to massacre Germany now because of what Hitler and the nazis did in the past(if hitler was a brainwashed slaved that got used from some king). Its only natural if you have the power to save yourself and every kin of yours that were living with you behind walls (when everybody thought thats the whole world) and you suddenly get all the knowledge and information from future and past flowing into your brain that everyone is out to either use and abuse you, get you killed or use you as a "common enemy" for the whole world, With Marley being the frontrunners and i think there was only one country that didnt actually want to kill them. Wouldnt you go to all extremes to make sure the people you care for and love and are absolutely innocent get to live their lives? I'd be livid too in Erens place too and i'd want a) revenge and b) FREEDOM to do what i want when i want and visit anywhere i want when i want. He knows from the memories that negotiating and leaving them live their lives in peace was never an option.
