Thank you so much for your videos, and perspective on life, family and community! You get frustrated sometimes when Buddy is demanding, but please don’t stop doing what you’re doing, and including him, because he is well on his way to emulating your strong well centered demeanor and adventurous spirit. I am a 49 yr old woman that was raised in the Sierras of California just west of Lake Tahoe. My dad was not a sportsman hunting and fishing. We did grow up on the lake waterskiing. So I love water. However I have always had a desire to learn. I am now blessed to live on the Coast at the California Oregon boarder. Learning every day more and more, by doing and watching videos such as yours. I live vicariously through your families adventures, and excited to get to watch Buddy grow up in this amazing way! Thank you again, don’t ever stop being you Tawny

I tried this recipe twice this week with my local catch. First time with a Kelp Greenling whole absolutely amazing. However I was the only one to clean my plate because of the small bones. So I did it again with the Rock Cod I caught the same day. But this time filleted , left the skin on and deboned. All clean plates!!! Tawny

Loved this video especially cause it shows how a lot of local people eat their fish back home in Hawai'i. Not only how we cook but appreciate the catch with our families and leaving nothing but bones on the pan. I always enjoy sharing your videos with my friends here in Pennsylvania where I go to college because they learn so much about the lifestyle back home. Thank you Kimi for inspiring me and getting me into not only spearfishing but also appreciating the lifestyle that comes with it.

Aloha from Cape Town Kimi! I just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring a new community of spearfisherwomen. After I heard your story in Fishpeople in 2017 I was so captivated by the underwater world you spoke about, and in awe of how spearfishing allowed you to provide for your family, that I finally convinced my spearfisher partner to take me diving with him- and I shot my first yellowtail a year later! Learning to freedive has been a great big beautiful challenge and I learn more about myself every time I go. Bringing food home directly from the ocean to share with my family makes me feel so unbelievably empowered and strong. Mahalo for showing me what was possible- without discovering your story I might still just be watching my partner bring home delicious food instead of going and getting it myself! PS: love the recipes too!
