Hell yeah, just jump right in. If you're going from scratch, start small. You can just string together a few 'one-shots' that become a larger campaign if/when you get a better feel for things and have a better idea of what story you're all working towards. Plenty of good resources out there to help too.

No TV in the bedroom is totally the way to go. Since moving into my own place where I don't need to have my TV and computer in my bedroom, it has drastically helped me get to sleep easier. Way better sleep hygiene.

Buy a nice metal nail file, in a little leather sheath. Keep it in your car, Greg. File your nails while doing a Gregway. Little bit of nail dust, but if you do it often enough it is insignificant. I got one myself and love it.
