I knew Tim would be all about this series 😭 the ‘let’s fucking go’ moments in these movies are TRULY transcendent, seminal, influential, epic and some of the best in movie history

I loved one of Mick's lines. Rocky asks him how much he thinks Thunderlips eats, and Mick says "About 202 pounds." Then the ref introduces Rocky as weighing 202 pounds, and Rocky looks at Mick and he smiles. Loved that moment.

Hulk was fired from WWF by Vincent McMahon(Sr) because he accepted the role in Rocky 3. Vince McMahon(Jr) brought him back to the WWF based off his popularity in this movie. Hulkamania doesn't happen without this film. Also the best Pro Wrestler in a movie is hands down Andre in The Princess Bride.
@ChristopherJames1993 Жыл бұрын
Theres hella better wrestlers in movies than Andre. The Tock is one. Batista is another. Edge, Triple H, RVD, Kane. They're all better than Andre.

I never really saw Clubber Lang as one-dimensional, although I get it. I think he was intentionally raw and “evil” because he wasn’t getting the credit he deserved, whereas Rocky is being adored by everyone. He’a purposefully being the villain just to get some attention. He’s hungry, not rich, and nobody cares about him unless he can beat Rocky. So, thats what he tries to do. But, Rocky would have never fought him if he was just another fighter, or another Apollo, etc. Rocky didn’t need him. But, he needed Rocky. So, he takes on this exaggerated villain persona, and it worked.

To Nick, I can confirm that fights with huge weight disparity’s at heavyweight happen quite a lot(the division starts at 200 on the dot with no max limit). Sometimes the little guy even wins. Holyfield made a career out of it.

You guys say Hulk Hogan was not good in is role compare to his Wrestling character... but that's because the movie came one year before he sign his WWF contract... so he was just an "indy-guy" at the time from the AWA.

In all of Rocky, he’s sort of this bruiser bull in china shop fighter. In every movie he ditches the “new” strategy for the bruiser style where he just takes punches, it’s the one thing he’s great at, taking punches and getting back up.

The PACING...?? wtf..?!? Rocky IV's got the worst pacing in the first four Rocky movies... it was stretched out way too thin. Rocky III's got the PERFECT pacing for the type of more pop..more action-oriented Rocky movies. It's my second fave Rocky, after the original.

This Hulk Hogan is still a bad guy in the AWA. Managed by classy Freddy Blassy at this moment. He was fired from the WWF by Vince McMahon Sr. And went to the AWA. Vince McMahon Jr. bought the WWF from his bad in the time in between Hulk’s firing and this movie coming out . Vince Jr saw how big Hulk was getting off this movie and brought him back to the WWF and made him a good guy and Hulkamania was born

Haven't watched the review yet, but I'll guess that this will be Tim's favorite Rocky movie. Lots of hype moments with great music, but a really shallow script, a more generic Rocky and just overall more commercial. Other than 4&5, it is the weakest "cinema" movie, but the most entertaining "turn your brain off and enjoy the show" movie. Apollo becoming his coach was a stroke of genius btw. I remember Tim mentioning that Rocky 1 felt "too real" for hist taste, so this version in RockyIII should be perfect for him :D

Sancho doesn’t understand the rope a dope method. Cmonnn man that’s the only way to beat clubber. A lot like how Ali beat foreman
@SanchoWest2 жыл бұрын
Oh I know Rope a Dope, but it wasn't a strategy presented in this movie at all. Apollo's strategy was to gas out Clubber and he feared Rocky wouldn't get to the 8th round. If the Rope a dope option presented itself during the table, it's much more believable for Apollo to tell Rocky to do it. Rocky doesn't have the boxing mind to figure things out alone.

I feel like this one should be better than 2, but it wasn't. I like the tighter story and the story beats, but I didn't like the wrestling scene, Polly sucked, and the final fight wasn't as good as it should've been. Plus Clubber Lang was too extra.
