17:58 Fun fact: Disney's 1997 Hercules is heavily influenced by Rocky (and the 1978 Superman film) and that's why they use Go The Distance, not only as the theme of the film, but also as the title of Hercules' "I Want" song. So, it's not a coincidence that one thinks about Hercules when watching Rocky (or vice-versa).

“Take you back, doo-doo doo-dooooo, take you baaaaack”. That song always stuck with me after watching this - so cool Stallone got his brother Frank’s music in it! Thanks for doing this in review KF! This is one of those movie series that’ll always be special to me since it’s a favorite of my dad’s and something he introduced me to (and still quotes) from a young age. One of those things from your parents you know you’ll always remember and pass on to your own children one day

The arc of this franchise makes a glorious U shape! It starts high and then by the 80s & 90s it sags to an abysmal level (Rocky 5 specifically) only to redeem itself later in a great, if not highly improbable, manner (Rocky Balboa). It all culminates in the creation of a spin-off by a massive talent no one saw coming (Ryan Coogler)!
@Deadfistx122 жыл бұрын

15 rounds for anyone wondering used to be common for super fights. Like two undisputed champs, Sugar Ray Leonard vs Hearns, Ali vs Fraziers fights etc. Uncommon nowadays for exactly what they joked about lol, nobody needs more head truama. Hell Chael Sonnen even makes a good argument for UFC fights even getting rid of Five rds and only doing Three rods even for championships. Let them prove the winner in as little time and head trauma as possible

Came here to ask the same question. The directors cut of rocky iv from last year seems to be a much better received movie based on what I’ve seen though i haven’t watched myself.
@OMGLX2 жыл бұрын
Not a correction, because Andy's not wrong and they basically mean the same thing, but I think the term he's looking for instead of 'improv' is 'ad-lib'. Where improv has come to mean that a whole scene or production is intentionally left to be improvised by the players, ad-lib is more akin to a singular improvised line, action or moment amidst an otherwise established script or screenplay.

The loan shark mafia guy is much more true to life depiction of what guys like that are like. Rocky has always done right by him so he rewards and encourages and protects him, and the people who experience that side of a guy like that will never see the things he does to the people who get in the way of his money or does wrong by him. Those guys would earn the trust of enough people as being a good guy that this is why people would borrow from him, thinking he has a great reputation and was someone you could do business with. You don't borrow money from the guy who you fear, you borrow from the guy you hope is a good enough guy that will understand you're good for it and give you time and then you find out that he's not and YOU'RE the asshole in the situation for not paying the guy back in the eyes of the people who think he's a great guy who takes care of everyone.
