KingJohnMichael Are you trying to tell me Ubisoft doesn’t have the resources to make a game that good? Fuckin please. They’re one of the largest companies making one of the largest IP’s and they can take as long as they choose. If they put out a lesser game to cash in, that’s on them. But they absolutely ought to be compared to other peers in the genre.

I thought the same thing To be fair though, AC is more open world, so it is expected they would have lower detail. The facial animations on AC also looked just animated, compared to performance capture in Tlou. That makes a big difference

The entire premise of Valhalla appears to be Ubisoft trying to find a compromise between the original games, and the newer RPG-lite direction they've been going. And I love it. If they can stay on this path and continue compromising, they'll find the new spirit of AC games (FYI, I loved Odyssey as a standalone game, loathed it as an AC game).

My only major gripe with everything I've seen so far are the character models. The environment looks solid. Some of the water animations could use some work, but it is mostly the character models that look.... meh. They look really bland and clayey. I hope they fix that. Greg/Barrett, was just wondering from your time with the game did it seem like there would be any references to Scotland at all in the game? When they finally announced it would be the world of Vikings and that you would travel to Britain I was really hoping for Scotland to play a part. Obviously historically they struggled to get anywhere through Scotland due to us being crazy bastards but some characters or interactions with the country would be brilliant to see!

Okay, but is it assassin's creed? Like if I'm a big bad thor-looking viking then what's my incentive to stealth? Like ever. And what's the parkour/ movement like? Back in the numbered AC days I really lived for the locomotion of these games, culminating in the masterful mobility options of unity and the amazing implecations of the grappling hook in syndicate. But ever since origins, I feel like there has been absolutely no focus on evolving the movement in the series, and that kinda sucks for those of us who really loved the series for those aspects. Like the whole original pitch of AC 1 way back when was the parkour over rooftops and stealth assassinations, hiding bodies, escaping enemies. I dunno, just feels like they coulda just called it something else if they wanted to go all epic fantasy battle rpg

Love the AC games, Origins is my favorite AC for the story and characters. I liked Odyssey, but felt very little for the characters and story and world was too big for me. Valhalla looks good and loving the combat changes and raid stuff and exploration changes, but getting more odyssey vibes from this, in that I does feel like I'm not going to care much about the Eivor. That might be because it doesn't have a "main" voice actor and that is what made Origins so good imo. Bayek was his own character, not "my" character, the performance of Abubakar Salim was fantastic. Alexios/Cassandra felt stale to me because it felt like they were reading from stript with little emotion and getting that same feeling from this. With that said, still looking forward to more AC.

Assassins Creed Valhalla; this no longer feels like Assassins Creed anymore, the stealth and fortress raids look great and feel like AC Black Flag but everything else looks like a different game altogether. For fucks sake, it feels like Ubisoft just wants to make a new knock off Witcher franchise. Now there are even MORE mythical monster boss fights in the world? And your moral choices affect your game ending even MORE now? The whole point of Assassins Creed is that it’s supposed to take place in the background of history, where these events already happened and your seeing the CHARACTERS choices that effect the story, NOT YOURS.

Odyssey wasn’t about Assassins by any means and Origins ended with the Assassins being formed. Odyssey was about the Isu and their interactions with humanity. So now we are way pass that and much closer to when AC1 started. So by this time the Assassins Brotherhood has been formed for centuries. People don’t think about that. To me that is why combat is different. Also not everyone fights the same way. As for assassinating enemies in the bushes it looks the same. Not sure how it’s different. It’s same as it always been. I think it sucks that we have the Vikings, who believe Odin is watching them by raven and we don’t get more use out of the raven. The game looks more violent then anything. The way Eivor fights looks brutal, which Ubisoft likes to point out that they were farmers. Lol. This is a day one ps5 but for me.

Dunno why it's still a loot based hack and slash with a HIGH emphasis on mythological stuff. That ain't assassin's creed. It was in it, sure. But it was never the forefront or the focus and it never should be. Change is good. But uprooting it entirely and making the whole game different? Pointless. Also if you never liked assassin's creed but you liked oddyssey, proves the point that it's not really assassin's creed doesn't it? God of war is a good example of change. It kept its core values of puzzle solving, and being deeply embedded in a world of mythology. The combat was different but it was STILL the same genre. With all its differences and changes- it still stuck to what made it GOD OF WAR.

That's capitalism baby. Adding RPG elements and more mythology makes it seem like a more substantial marketable AAA experience. Keeping the AC name gives them brand recognition. That's a powerful tool. You can't expect them to prioritize "core values" of a game when businesses literally exist to generate profit in our economic system. Still looks like fun, though. Openworld viking game with customizable skillsets. I just pretend it's a different franchise.

The graphics are good... but the compare the facial animations to part 2s facial animations. Like it’s such a “turn off” seing the animations when they talked.

you do know this game comes out 2 days before cyberpunk 2077, no disrespect but we both know that quality isn't the same in these game

Johann Avila Why do you need to compare them? There are people who will prefer this game over Cyberpunk.

@@DanV900 Because they're both 60 dollar games and they come out the same week, so out of everything that I have seen from the game in my opinion Cyberpunk will be more worth your money and time furthermore it comes from cd project red, while Ac Valhalla comes from Ubisoft a developer known for making games with no such quality as once in a generation, I haven't played AC Valhalla but it seems like odyssey with a few more things while Cyberpunk is a completely new Ip, after what went down with Ghost recon breakpoint I have lost faith in Ubisoft

@@herrmiseria ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Some people care more about vikings than cyberpunk. You can't live your life trying to mathematically maximize the fun of video games. Despite the problems with Ubisoft, they still make fun games... as long as you let yourself have fun when you play. I plan on playing both, but I don't need to buy either of them day-1, so the comparison is pointless to me.
