In many ways a so-called menial job is preferable to white-collar, bullshit-riddled, office jobs. I've done my time in the paper trenches and I'm now seriously considering either retail or factory work just to get off my butt & off the office phone.
@BellalisDope10 жыл бұрын
writerforlifeify When I was working my office job, I always envied the construction workers across the street. As I sat in front of a computer doing data work, they got to be outside building a gorgeous building! Long story short, i quit my job, started school again in a totally different subject. New goal: work outside doing something positive :)
@writerforlifeify10 жыл бұрын
OMG!!!! You, too? I'm in the same boat right now. I'm currently in the process of looking for a new job 'cause my dept was recently shut down; I worked as a project coordinator data-entering contracts, sitting at a damn desk staring at a computer screen ALL day (excluding breaks & trips to the copy machine). I recall days when my legs were literally aching due to long hours sitting at my desk, even 5 hours at a time without standing up even once. Good thing I live only 3 km from the office so I walked to & from work every day, 5 days/week--best time of my workday. Every morning I'd feel a wave of disappointment wash over me once I arrived at my desk...'cause I gotta SIT DOWN and turn on my computer and get to work. Best vacation I ever had was a WALKING VACATION taken in Paris; for 2 weeks we walked 9-10 hours/day, every day. Just try that. OMG! You'll sleep like a baby every night. And lose lots of inches, too. I worked in an office setting for a total of 19 years & I've had ENOUGH. I need BALANCE; I'm a writer (at home) so when paired with an office job, I'm on my butt in front of a computer for as long as I'm awake (excluding the walks to & from work). I'm not looking for an outdoorsy job but I want to be on my FEET most of the time; even a retail job will suit me. I just need to MOVE. In my student days I recall the fun I had working in a production/assembly type of job in the summers. The hours fly by when you're in motion. Plus, you'll sleep better after a physically active day & live longer. You reminded me to check out videos on 'blue collar jobs'--I saw one that compared blue, white, pink collar jobs but didn't have time to watch it. I also want to simplify my life; in Nov/2013 I discovered the small house movement here on youtube; now I'm obsessed with the idea of living large in a small space, but not on wheels; I'd like a small, cozy home on a solid foundation, one of the best examples is the 'Tiny House Project'. Lower utility bills, reduced property taxes, less to clean, more time to enjoy your life. : )

This is honestly one of the biggest lies ever told. If life was as truly kind as it is showing to be in this video, where just hard work and persistence gets you to places than I would be a millionaire now. Life is sadly for me, and a lot of other people completely different. It screws us up and pulls us down, even though we are trying to climb higher. I wish I could be motivated by this video, but it is just making me more depressed than what I already am.

Chuck Norris wouldn't be too happy to hear that he is owned by a depressed person. Give faith a chance; believe in YOU. Action without faith is impotent. You might even be climbing the wrong ladder, and for the wrong reason (?)
@darrenpellichino292310 жыл бұрын
You really must be a soul that is confused. Working hard is not a painful memory but a badge you should wear. The ability of a person who endures extreme trials but still gives off helpful loving warmth is a jewel of a badge. why can't you see the hardships as the path to become a superb person? Edited. All of you who feel life is a big bummer are missing the chances given to us to shine. The hardest parts of life are those chances to shine btw.
@writerforlifeify10 жыл бұрын
The road to greatness very often is paved with a myriad of struggles, sacrifices, & hardships BUT it also need not be. If you believe life must be hard, it surely will be; if you believe that your journey will be marked by 'smooth sailing', it will be. Why are we so hard on ourselves that we have internalized the notion that a huge price MUST be paid for our dreams? Why did we buy into the 'life is hard' mantra? Who sold us the notion that the very experience of LIFE must be accompanied by SUFFERING? People who return from near-death experiences report no suffering 'on the other side'. So why should it apply here on earth? I believe suffering is a CHOICE made on a soul level & consequently our outer lives REFLECT that deep-seated belief in a variety of ways. Think about that. Jesus said: 'Consider the lilies in the field; they toil not, yet all their needs are met.' I don't mean to imply that like the lilies, we can simply do nothing and our dreams will manifest out of the blue. That's not my point. I'm talking about taking intuition-led, faith-powered, love-based, Self-honoring, inspired ACTION which in itself ALLOWS our dreams to manifest in the best way possible. Basically, just be true to YOU on a moment-to-moment basis from sunup to sundown. Don't force anything, don't worry, don't judge anyone, love yourself. Epitomize Self-love + faith in action. Simple as that.

I love how the video represents that we are who we are on the inside. And to me it tells me that today's children are learning, soaking up information like sponges. We don't always realize it, but they are watching, growing. Depending on what we teach them, and how we react decides who how they will react. And that its not too late to make a positive change in your life. We are not capable to succeed from appearance but we succeed in who we are and how we treat others and ourselves.
@alasdairgeddes9 жыл бұрын
Nice video, but this common idea of 'the meaning of life' can also be seen as the product is a consumer society in which we treat every aspect of life like something we can buy; constantly comparing what we have to what someone else has and adding it to our 'bucket list'. While this outlook can be a great motivator to live a diverse life, it may never leave you satisfied and ultimately detracts from life's true meaning. Life is about caring- caring for family, people, pets, anything, everything or just something. Imagine that you're the old person in the rocking chair. What would you regret more, not seeing the pyramids or not saying that final goodbye to your mum? Would you rather write the first word of a thousand books or have a thousand glowing reviews of your first book? You may never be an astronaut, extreme sports professional or billionaire, but that doesn't matter. Discover who and what you care about, hold on tight and don't let anything hold you back.

So I'm really ashamed of what I've been doing the past months I've been running away from my problems and fears that really aren't that scary and I've just took the easy way out of things by just avoiding it and running away For example I hid in the school toilets for 20 minutes just because I was scared if preforming in front of the class and I deliberately got late to school just so I could miss the opportunity to march as a cadet for rememberance day and I'm really worried about my future because I'm almost 15 and I don't want my personality to be like this because I could really miss big opportunities in my life 😭 Now I'm embarrassed of going to school because people are going to look at me and think I'm a scardey cat. I feel so alone like I'm the only person in the world who embarrases themselves by running away from things that aren't even that scary and that you could of done all along. Please if you have any advice for me to overcome this leave me a comment and say I'm not the only one ☹️😭

Don't be embarrassed about what people think about you. You've a life, live it to the fullest, do what you've wanted to do. Whatever you do some are going to discourage you, stop you, don't be influenced by them, use it as your fuel. Else you will not be living your life but somebody's else life. You will be so conscious about what other people will think of you that you will no longer take decisions based on what you love but rather on what other persons expect of you. So whether they laugh at you, appreciate you or hate you, keep going and stop living somebody's else life. Remember to live by the quote "I don't worry about those who talk behind my back, they're behind me for a reason"

Whag you are saying is true but they can move to different countries if they really wanted to. If they say it's to much work then that's their excuse. They will have to stay where they are if they aren't gonna try to get out.
@ValkyrieOey10 жыл бұрын
Sidnee Owens Its hard to get out, its not just buy a plane ticket and cya. Ever thought about how they tell this to their families, you can't just go up to your parents and say "oh im leaving cause I disagree with this," your parents or even brothers or friends are forced to report that to authorities in the middle east. And what about finances, how will you survive in a new country, how will you fit in, learn the new language etc. Moving isn't as simple as 1, 2, 3, a lot of thought needs to go into it, more thought that went into your comment...
@dustin42210 жыл бұрын
***** yes it really is as simple as that. You want to leave then leave. You make it happen, no one else. As she said it's your life.
@ValkyrieOey10 жыл бұрын
Dustin Downs no you obvously missed my comment. Where will she go, how will she make money, fit in, plus if you tell someone your leaving you do realize they have to report you, and there are so many cases in the middle east of family members reporting family members. Plus fear is a huge thing, if you leave then the taliban for example wants to know why.
@dustin42210 жыл бұрын
This person can go where ever they want. Work to get that plane ticket,bus ticket, bike or shoes. If it makes you happy then that's all that really matters. You make money any way you know how. If you don't know how you start at the bottom. Wash dishes clean houses whatever you have to do to make YOUR dream happen. No one fits in anywhere right away,it's a process. And why tell anyone you're leaving if it makes it harder to follow your heart? Fuck the Taliban is all I have to say about that. Fear can only control you if you let it. If you don't like where you're at change it. I do see you point but it's a cop out. Ever been depressed? You find any reason you can to stay depressed. Even when you have the means to change you can't see past the minute you're in right then. Fear is the same way. My intention is not to knock you down but to open your eyes to the fact that you can change any circumstance you come up against, if you believe you can. Helen Keller did. Blind and deaf she made what she wanted happen. Just know if you were/are that girl I am rooting for you/her to realize whatever dream that is inside your heart.

No crap it is, but the point is that anyone can do it, so who made up what is said doesn't matter. And yes Ea reiterated a few points in "EVERYBODY DIES..."

Kids are the unmolded clay of ourselves, unlike us they see us as not their future selves. Have you seen and heard a woman say "My kid is alot like you when you were little" and did you remember that kid WAS YOU and wonder what happened to you? Many kids in school give up on dreams becayse often times their skills aren't compatible with school requirements so they are force to adapt new and unfamiliar skills. *THAT IS NOT YOU!* You adapt to school but are you adapting for yourself and who you wanna be or are you adapting just to get straight As ? The beauty and wonderful thing about kids is..... they know. They know they wanna be their idols, their favorite basketball player, their favorite hero but as they get older..... as kids get older and spend more time with school most tend to adapt and give up on themselves. The beauty of being a kid is, you still got plenty of time to dream but the downside is they don't have enough time to get a good grip on themselves..... kids are not naive, they are just us.... sure you can call them naive because they "know nothing" but they're just there dreaming. We are the naive ones following these rules and what the boss say in a cubicle we never wanted to be meanwhile kids have brains that soar high above the clouds, away from the cubicles, away from paper work away from the thought of profit and instead they imagine the thrill of becoming their favorite person. So instead I saying kids are naive say kids are big dreamers, sure kids at probe to kidnapping but it's not the I choice to make. It's the kidnapper's so think two before calling kids naive because inside them are big dreamers, dreamers that you could've been but didn't take the leap for it

How sad would it be to know that you will get old and realise that even if you have no regrets you will still die and be forgotten throughout history. What if my biggest regret is being alive and growing old, I just don't want to die.

Wow! This is the most beautiful video I have seen in years! Everything said is so true and a perfect reminder of how to live your life..... I am sharing this as far as I can, to young and old. Love it!! I was so disgusted in some of the negative comments left, I don’t know how/where there is any bit of negativity in this video?? And seriously, the need to debate whether a child wrote this or just narrated this? Wake up to yourselves.... did you even listen to what was being said? Did you take anything from it? Petty shit comments, are a waste of what little time you have here, if you don’t like it, sometimes keeping it to yourself is the better option!
