I wasn’t big into digitally reading when the first Kindle came out, but by the time the Nook came out 2 years later, I was traveling more and tired of lugging books around. I adored my Nook and loved it to pieces. I wavered between print and digital until I moved into a house with no shortage and couldn’t buy books at all. By that point a friend got me an iPad mini and I never looked back. I’ve never been tempted by a Kindle despite the cheaper prices as I do like to use my tablet for many things. If I ever bought a Kindle, it would literally be just for reading, and yet I recently got the mini 7 so again can’t justify buying the Kindle.

As a fellow KZbinr, I know the work that went into making this video. WELL DONE! Keep it up!

Thanks for this. I’ve been contemplating buying an iPad mini to replace my Kindle for quite some time now. I’m particularly drawn to all the features you mentioned, which I can also do on my iPhone, except for the use of the pen. However, one thing that’s been holding me back is the screen. It’s not OLED yet, and I detest the backlit display. It contributes to eye fatigue, especially while reading. The iPad Pro is OLED, but it’s simply too large for my needs. I hope that when it’s perfect for reading books, it will also display the book cover when locked (at least while using the Reading focus feature) 🤭 The scuffs on the Kindle leather case aren't necessarily bad, though. I have it in Ruby, which matches my Metallic Raspberry. I love how the leather is untreated, giving it a unique and personal look. Each scratch and patina adds to its individuality, making it a one-of-a-kind piece. It would have been even better if it were aniline leather 😅

I love his case too! It reminds me of Travelers notebooks bound in leather. Something just special about that. Shows he actually uses it!

It was nice to video comparing a Kindle and iPad Mini that just focused on the reading aspect of the iPad. I have seen too many go into all the other things the iPad does and just say the iPad is automatically better because of it.

Thanks for sharing that reading mod activation tip! I had no idea about it.

I have both and my go to it the old sturdy cheap Kindle espc for vacation. Battery lasts forever and its splash and sand friendly and reading in bright sunlight isn’t a problem.

I own both the Colorsoft and the iPad mini 7 cellular and I can't decide which I want to carry around all the time. I enjoyed this video and perspective.

Another pros for using the iPad are the text to speech, which let my iPad to read it loud to me and the new vehicle motion cues from iOS18, which allows me to read Kindle during a long ride without feeling dizzy easily.

Yes. Almost like a free audiobook version.

I read on my phone and I will not go back to physical books. I like the kindle app better than the kindle itself. To me the kindles seems a little slow.

Best tips on Kindle on iPad. Thanks. Can you find ways to read Kindle in iPad and disabling touch screen, so we don't accidentally turn the page?
@jeradtech10 күн бұрын
I’m not sure there is a way to disable touch. What I would recommend is a thicker case that gives you something to hold onto besides the screen.

Thanks for the video! Question on the Kindle color highlights. How does it look like when you review your highlights on your computer? Does it identify by color?
@jeradtech4 күн бұрын
Yes. Any color screen shows color highlights.

Pretty cool video. I have one question. Why Kindle app and not Apple Books or Google Play Book? Pros and cons of each one (if you tried them)? That would be an interesting video comparison.
@jeradtech8 күн бұрын
Simply came down to having used Kindle books longer and trusting it more. Apple Books is not cross platform. Never considered Google Books.

mink oil. just a small bit for the leather cover. leather needs to be moisturized.

Kindle for reading regular books/novels. iPad for comics/graphic novels, some magazines, and college textbooks 😊

Viendo un video en inglés, entendiendo muy poco, pero fue interesante 😊 tengo el ipad pero no el kindle a color. El ipad está bien para leer a color a mi parecer. Gracias por la comparación

Not even close. The Kindle app is 1000% better than the god-awful software on the Kindle. I don't know why they can't be made more alike. It can't possibly all be due to the very poor responsiveness of the e-Ink display.

The screen behind you says 91k subs and the sub count on your channel says 126k. Did you gain almost 30k subs in a day?!

Two different channels of mine.
