*I upgraded from the 8 inch to the **Newest.Technology** 10 inch. I really didn't expect it to make that much difference but it has. It is also much faster and responsive. Great Purchase.*

THANK YOU for the video. I just replaced the charging port on my wife's Kindle Fire. Major points for me and I was able to rationalize a few new tools (always a good thing). Drag soldering the back pins was a little challenging. I used the same flux you showed and a good 60/40 solder from amazon( stay away from lowes/home depot for solder). I'm pretty new to soldering so I was very happy with the results. Again THANK YOU!

+Tommy Smith Another way to make the removal easier is to use low melt solder prior to the removal of the port. Just take your solder tip and put low melt solder on it. Then take flux and put on port pins and port legs on the underside of the board. Then take the low melt and apply it with your soldering iron to mix the low melt solder with the old solder. This will help it come up easier with less heat or change of damaging board or traces. Here is a link to low melt solder. amzn.to/1r7kOrk

I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one kzbin.infoUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

Nice video. I personally just consider these disposable tablets. $29 for a new one during Prime Days every year. Just make sure you keep track of your apps. Most will reinstall easily. $59 to have it replaced just doesn't make sense but I understand the cost as it looks like a pain to do.

Great video! The only problem is the part where you actually put the part have in and solder it in place you have it off the table out of sight.

Thought you were supposed to heat the location then put the solder on that to melt rather than melting the solder directly?

Why don’t people who work on electronics wear ground straps to prevent static electricity discharge which can short out parts?

I am a bit confused. So the entire side and rear is like a big pin? So there is no tradition pins to solder? Someone asked me to repair one of these and after taking it apart, I was confused because the port did not seem to have traditional pins and I could not figure out where I was suppose to solder it back to the board. I was also confused because there was a chewing gum consistency junk all over the port. My guess someone put the compound on it to try and stabilize the port as a cheap fast repair, but sure makes my job a lot harder. I would highly recommend you fix the zoom on the camera to where you want it. That auto zoom is garbage on that camera, ha.

As soon as I get my soldering purchase to become reality vs background desire that keeps creeping back up... I will need to practice a tiny bit or more likely closer to a shhhhhhhhht ton before I would attempt replacing my charging port. I need to know how much it would cost to have mine repaired by you and if it is worth the wait for purchase and experience to just do it myself. I'll address that by way of chat. But the more I think about it the more I write and the more I write, I think what you do by freely sharing this info makes me want to give you my biz and just file away that knowledge for another time amd place. Not enough giving and much too much in the way of self serving purpose so thank u. My partner is the same way with his knowledge and skills developed thru much time and success and graduated by any possible failure much like I imagine tech work with delicate & such intriquit pieces to work with. I've subscribed and will spread the word of what you are capable of electronically in the professional sense as well as the good human kind of sense. My circles of friends always seem to have tech questions and I like to know how things work. I wish I had come across this sooner. I'm not much of a techie tech head, though I feel that could change. Currently I am much more of a gr8ful Dead Head but it would be really nice to electronically surprise my partner with what you can teach! I so appreciate u and all your team members that know just what to do and just what to say!!

Is the No Clean Flux Paste a solder? Or are you only using it to clean up the board? That was not quite clear to me. If only to clean, then what type of solder are you using to secure the port?

I use mgchemicals flux. Here is the flux that we use goo.gl/w9lQh5

Wonder what type of charging port would be used for a Amazon fire 7. Its a 7th generation. Serial number G0W0 MA07 7367 FSMA. Cannot find anything for which port I need to repair mine. Rather not take it apart until I know what part is needed.

Seeing how brand new Amazon Fire 7" tablets cost $50.00 free shipping all day long, it wouldn't pay to have it repaired. And they usually have blowout sales on them once or twice a year. I bought several of them for $25.00 free shipping when the 7th gens came out. The camera sucks but the tablets are the best bang for the buck out there. Just sideload Google, Chrome and KZbin and it's a winner.
