Good job covering the topic. I use tire wheel weights since they are flat & sectioned like a Hershey’s bar so you can adjust to your liking. And some spare batteries.

I use a ziplock back full of extra 123’s inside a Velcro pouch on the back. If I’m gonna add weight, I want to at least be able to use it.

The other issue is Shermer’s Neck, it’s common in long distance cycling. It’s an acute fatigue condition from loading neck muscles.

I got the ops core counter weight, I like it since you can choose how many you want in there. Then I put the entire pouch in the Agilite pouch. Kind of a slick setup. I’m happy with it

i used a counterweight with my crye nightcap and it worked fine for me. i always used the chin strap anyway though.

I run a large powerbank on the back of my helmet, and if I just put a little magnet weight ontop of it, it's the perfect counter balance for my current PVS-14 setup.

I got rid of the counterweight pouches and I used adhesive velcro directly on decoy weights.

Stick on car wheel weights are crazy good. And can bend to fit around the helmet curvature.

The first thing I'm going to consider as a counterweight is a remote battery pack (provided the NVG I'm using has that capability).

With the battery pack and IR strobe, I get away with a few oz from a tire balance kit. Wrapped in gaffers tape and 3M hook loop to attach on the OP SF.

Would the same be applied to digital night vision that is able to be mounted to a helmet or would that be too light to even be considered having counter weights?
@KineticConsulting3 жыл бұрын
Just depends on the balance

I use 9mm projectiles, it allows me to really dial in the balance since I'm using a bump. I put them in a ziplock baggie which goes inside my TW counterweight pouch. Ends up being a lot lighter than a ballistic due to being able to put all the weight on the helmet's point of greatest leverage(versus having all the weight directly on top of your head). But yeah if you just pick up a brand new bump and expect it to weigh that light fully kitted out and balanced you're gonna have a rude awakening.

Makes sense. I have a team wendy bump with DTNVS’s. I feel like I need more weight on the back to properly balance but I feel that weight on my neck. You bring up a valid point about not being used wearing a helmet which I’m not. Guess it just takes getting used to. Thanks for the info, Jon
