Thanks for doing these videos. It saved me from some very big bills with Kinetico.

Great videos...thank you! I have a Kinetico K30 with a cracked head (overtightened bolt). where did you get your parts from and are parts interchangeable? I'm having a hard time finding parts

Check here, and maybe try to contact them directly for good OEM parts: www.aquastream-softeners.co.uk/152-kinetico-spares I do believe many of their parts are interchangeable, but not always. Check the parts manual and verify the part numbers to make sure: www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/j8w3tnr2a5smvwhk871zy/Kinetico-4040-4060-Parts-Guide.pdf?rlkey=xmdo0prijnr7zuq3albtxaosw&e=1 Back when I was searching for parts, ebay was about the only other place I saw them available for a somewhat reasonable price. But they were only listed there sometimes, and they often seemed like non-OEM knock off kits which were worrisome. Buying from an actual distributor overseas and shipping to USA worked for me (Kinetico is so ridiculous to make us do this).

Do you have any idea what the actual problem was here? In this case? I mean, I get it replacing all the seals will be great but I wonder what was the actual issue? Great videos appreciate it

I believe the Level 4 seals at about 11:50 in the Part 3 video were compromised ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIu2eYaXh7KnbJYm50s ). I show them worn down on camera. I believe this caused either a leak in that seal or a jam for the piston so it was not able to freely open & close. This may have been an issue for 1 or 2 of those seals, and replacing them may have fixed my issue. But doing all of that work to get in there-- might as well replace them all and remove the guess work! :)

I recently tore my 60 apart. I ordered some parts on ebay and the rest from the site you suggested. Everything is back together however it will not come out of the regeneration cycle. Yes, I did take the head unit apart as well. Nothing is broken and I am quite certain I have it back together correct. Any suggestions?

Take a look at the Troubleshooting Guide PDF linked in the video description. It has common issues and remedies. I see your issue listed there on page 4: "Unit stuck in regeneration/backwash cycle." It also lists 6 possible causes and solutions for each one. Hopefully something is just clogged a bit still and you can clean it out, maybe in those small holes to the gearing. If you're not sure which part that guide is referencing, look at the "Parts" PDF in the video description as well- it shows part names and has a diagram of exactly where they're located. Hopefully this will help!

Do you by chance know where I can get those swivel elbows? I had one break and I can’t find those parts anywhere 😭

Send an email to service@aquastream-softeners.co.uk and see if they can help. You might get lucky on ebay too, but things can be overpriced there. The video description also has a PDF with a parts list so you can maybe find the exact part name(s)/number(s) you need and search online specifically for them.

How durable is this system? So many gaskets and points of failure. How long have you had your system before issue(s) occurred. I'm considering Kinetico, had an official dealer out today. This is supposed to be the cadillac of water softener systems from what I've read. Nothing is bulletproof I suppose, but with a new install I would expect parts not to fail so quickly. Are there softeners out there with much simpler designs but just as efficient? Supposedly there's 24 gallons of waste water for each regen cycle on the 2 tank system.

It's true that each regeneration cycles uses a lot of water, but the tradeoff is that this unit requires ZERO electricity. So you don't ever have to worry about electrical issues or faulty circuit boards or electric motors going bad. This also means less points of failure in my mind. The Kinetico design is actually really impressive and easy to work on, you just have to keep it clean and replace those gaskets every so often. The only issue is finding those parts. It should run for a realllllly long time with this basic maintenance though and new carbon/resin every 10-15 years. My unit came with the house I purchased, so I really have no idea how old it is or how it compares to other brands. It ran fine for me for ~6 years before acting up. It's running great again though. I know there are brands with standard parts readily available, but I haven't done enough research to give a recommendation.

OK so you did 8 parts explaining everything which I find extremely useful and thank you but never took apart or explained the most important piece which is the metering assembly, wheels removal and alignments. Any chance you can post something on this. I'm stumped by a non-advancing meter wheel, manual regeneration works fine but self regeneration is not happening
@loonhunt4 ай бұрын
Sorry, my metering assembly has never had an issue (thank goodness!), so I've not dealt with it. Maybe someone else can post a link or guide for others looking. Good luck.
