This is a masterpiece through and through. If king made an album entirely centred around slow jazz and blues I'd be up for it.

Jazz mixed with blues. Genius. One song like this on an album can be hella refreshing and shows they're not afraid to switch shit up.

Best thing about this song is it looks like scene in which you sit in a bar and drinking whiskey. Sad and depressed. And in the end when live band end songs you go home and then in the car you are shot. Amazing

I'm in over my head what have I done Got me a woman she loves me dearly she is the one But I know this girl this devilish thing She's hot like Satan and she moves like fire, her name is Maxine And we run the world me and Maxine I know she got a man but she likes my hands down in her jeans And it makes her sing… I know I know, I'm supposed to know More of Fitzgerald, more of Hemingway, more of Thoreau But she keeps me distracted this devilish thing And she feels like brimstone, but when I take her shirt off, she could have wings And we run the world me and Maxine I know she got a man but she likes my hands down in her jeans And we run the world me and Maxine I know she got a man but she likes my hands down in her jeans And sometimes she sings…

This band has become one of the only newer bands that I love. Their heavier songs convey a real sense of menace and gritty violence, and their ballads usually explore mourning, yearning, or loss. But this track is different, this is pure lust for sex. A heavy, brooding torch song that would make Tom Waits proud, and there's still that sense of danger here, like his rendezvous with Maxine could get them killed. Is that in fact how the song ends, with her old man knocking on his car window and emptying a magazine into him before he can react?

i'm looking for someone who want to discuss the lyrics... I don't know if he his talking about a girl in his life or a girl in his mind ? and also, i don't know how to understand the sentence "i know she got a man but she likes my hands down in her jeans" Is there a sexual meaning ? (I just want to say i'm french, so it's maybe an english sentence that i never heard). To finish, what about the sounds of car and gunshot at the end of The song ? thay give me some chills and they make me ill-at-ease eache time i listen them... so what do you think about this questions ?
@fw7048 жыл бұрын
Vincent Pugeaut ^^^ That's what it appears to be on the surface but what if Maxine is the gun he used for his hits. It sounds from the the first few lines that he has a real woman in his life but his "Mistress" (his life on the streets or Maxine) keeps pulling them apart. I think that would explain the lyrics and allusions to gunfire at the end better.
@DaemoneZ6 жыл бұрын
In an interview he said he wrote this song back when he knew a girl named Maxine. Whether that’s just where he got the name, or if this is about her, he did not say.
@roofernick10285 жыл бұрын
It's about a gun. And its his pants. When the gun is in his pants it's no longer his it's her's pants now. so when he carries it in his pants and when he goes to grab the gun it gets him off. It's sexual, powerful and he belongs to it.
