Why should Bran Stark be King of Westeros? It's going to make more sense in the books, my friends, because Bran's greenseer magic will be much more important in the books - not only to defeat the others, but also use the knowledge of the weirwood to pull a "Bran-the-REbuilder" act for a Westeros in dire need. Above all, Bran should be king because he is the Prometheus of this story - the one who brings the fire of the gods to mankind, and specifically to **aid**mankind.

I know I'm very late to this video but I want to say I'm enjoying your entire channel and want to humbly add a tiny nugget to this video. When Bran climbs the tower he also reaches the top and attains dangerous knowledge (Cersei and Jaime banging) and is struck down specifically because he has attained that knowledge, which is basically what all the Prometheun imagery is about. Love all these deep dives. Thanks!!!

I really enjoyed the parallels between bran climbing the tower and the Tower of Babel. However instead of being stroked down because of trying to reach God and be like him, Brans being thrown down awakens his green seer abilities and begins his journey to becoming a god king.

There’s very specific mention of Ser Waymar’s sword hilt being “like the stump of a tree struck by lightning” in the prologue of Game of Thrones. I suppose we’re meant to think of Lightbringer in the perspective of the Promethean myth-obtaining or creating such a magic sword is like stealing fire from the gods, and comes with its own punishment.

This analysis really fits well with the Odin symbolism series. It makes sense if Jon is the berserker and Bran is the all-knowing side for them to work together to turn the seasons and for Euron to be an anti-Odin figure and the new Night's king as a parallel to both of them. I think that the new long night will be a shorter but bloodier one than the last long night. Maybe Euron is already working with the others by attacking oldtown and destroying or weakening the parts of Westeros that weren't affected by the war. If I am the Night's king, I will try attacking Dorne and the vale, maybe through the tunnels that TCOF made or by freezing the sunset and narrow seas to transport the army. Suppose GRRM wants to make it very dark. In that case, he could obliterate Dorne kill everyone except the babies, and raise the dead while attacking the north after they bring down the wall, similar to Sauron attacking Gondor to test its defenses while sending the Nazgul to get the ring. The analysis also goes with the idea that the Doom was an inside job if Dany knew what her ancestor did and maybe seeing Jon use dragons to melt a lot of dragon glass to plate armor with it(presuming that it can withstand ice swords and regular steel), seeing him use dragons to help instead of killing and conquering will tell him about the Doom. They will conclude that the Targaryen dynasty must end and that if they are good people, maybe their children will be good people, but how long until another dance or war of five kings or blackfyres. It will be a nice parallel to Bran being the last greenseer king. Maybe it's better if men don't wield this kind of power. The scouring of the shire of ASOIAF will be the council that will decide how a king is chosen and how to limit his powers. Thank you for all your content. I have been in exams for a month, and I watch your videos daily when I am not studying. They are great and make me relax from the stress and continue the fantastic work. I appreciate it.

Another, I know I’m like 5-7 videos into Garth the green, but in ASOIAF mythology, how close is Garth the green related to the essos city of Qarth, which is to be a spring like city in the middle of a desert. And Garth and Qarth are similarly spelled. And even tho Qarth plays a small role on the story it is where Daenerys gets prophecies that linger throughout the story

I am not through your awesome video yet, at the point where you discuss the sea dragon - ship reference. I don’t know why but every time I was reading sea dragon reference I was thinking of ships, mainly because of Ayreon’s Dragon on the Sea song. I totally buy your connections there. Maybe there are some real world references there. The Queen Elisabeth I had a ship originally called the Scourge of Malice with a Capt. Drake (!), which was then renamed as Red Dragon, with a Capt. Lancaster (!). This is the inspiration for the song, but it might something there. This King Bran video is the best of the three, so far... keep it up lml and thanks for his quality content

I now find it interesting that, at least in the show (haven't finished reading the 1st book) Bran doesn't wake up until after his mother stops praying for him. Coincidence? Or perhaps the Stranger was holding him in the grip of near-death while his mother was invoking the 7faced god.

I find the "poles" of Westeros interesting... To the west, we have worshippers of the Drowned God, whose enemy is the Storm God, while to the East, (and South some, but give me some wiggle room here), there's the Stormlands, with myths full of lightning and storms. To the North, we have a winter obsessed culture that prays to special sacred trees. In Dorne, in the south, we see suns on their heraldry and they commonly interbred with the Targaryens. Just some wayward thoughts to use or dismiss as you will on the overall motif. Seems unrelated, I know, but it was a bit of a "Well, then, that isn't a coincidence" thing that just whalloped me.

With all these greenseer and warg kings, blood of the children of the forest, and maybe the favour of the old gods... how the heck did the andals conquer the first men? They didn't have dragon, they should've been slaughtered the second they arrived on Dorne. The god of the seven is the only so far that seems completely fictional withing the world of ASOIAF, no fire-zombies, no ice-invulnerability, no changing faces nor skins, It doesn't seem like he could've given the Andals some OP magic to fight the eldritch horrors of Westeros.

First off, my apologies for taking a while to leave a reply. I've been thinking a lot about this and your previous video about Bran being the Summer King. The entire book usrs Tarot symbols. The Tower of Joy also fits the Tower symbol as it is broken at the end by Ned. The Tower card, as you probably know, signifies destruction but also can sometimes mean a new beginning. Similar to the weir wood tree face at the Wall, being the end of the world abd yet gateway to another. The characters pass through or beyond this world to the next to gain greenseer powers (Bran, Bloodraven), courage and family (Sam) and a magical horn (Jon). Bran and Lyanna were both destroyed but therr were new beginnings in Bran's greenseer abilities and Jon's birth. The Tarot can represent enlightenment with card 7, The Chariot, representing achieving all that's needed to be successful on earth. After that the cards get more mystical. So Bran's journey ti the fire of the gods could represent a global striving to enlightenment, which Bran achieves and tries to give ti everyone else when he becomes king. The wheel of Fortune card could represent the seasons of Summer and Winter, and Dany breaking the wheel of politics but being only semi successful, becayse thr wheel (of seasons) cannot break, it needs balance. The Star card is mirrored in TV r red star, imho. Either it or the moon card shows two wolves howling, which is the scene we get as the library tower burns.
@TheAstroWitchLux
@TheAstroWitchLux 3 жыл бұрын
The Star card can have positive ir negative neanings, including arrog3. Thus appears to parallel different interpretations by the characters of wgat the Bleeding Star neabs - Lannister colours, the end of the world, Azor Ahai, etc. The mokn card (library tower on fire) scene means danger and deception, or stillness, which describes Brian's situation of being attempted murdered whilst in a coma. The World card is the last card and can represent freedom or stability, which is maybe what Bran does at the rnd by bringing peace and freeing the weirwoods. And this might be totally off the wall, but I sometimes think that the factions are named after the elements. Lion=Leo =fire , Baratheon as s stag is basically Taurus so Earth. When they're out of the picture we get the Tyrells (flower=earth) in their place. Baratheons have male fertility symbolism and Tyrells a mire fenake fertility with the abundance of food flowing up the rose road, the flowery beauty if Highgarden and it's name. Then when they're gone, Dorne may become a bigger player and they are ascribed a lot of snake symbolism by their detractors. So they coukd be earth. Ironborn are obv water, Targs could be air or fire. Sparrows are air as they're concerned with analysis, I think. Though this extreme religiosity could be sern as a corruption of Sagittarius (fire) or Capricorn (earth). Ice is the fifth element which might be why there's an imbalance. Only by the elements being hatnessed can balance be restored. The onky symbol that represents all elements coukd be either dragons or the weirwood. Thus might just be myself reaching, but just thought I'd throw it out there. You may find "78 Degrees of Tarot" an interesting read if you want to look mire into Tarot symbolism 🙂

On the last part about Brandon the burner and the burning of ships or trees, we can also point out that the andals also burned weir wood trees when they first came to Westeros. I’m going to save this idea for my tommen sending a cats paw to kill bran theory because with your theory of bran being a greenseer summer king, I can start to see more and more connections as to why tommen could of been the one attempting to kill bran, and what symbols are associated with Tom men, or cat men. You know the price/king who owned a cat. The one who’s of brans age, the one who fought with practice swords at winterfell. Oh Jaime pushed bran out the window the lightning of the goods striking a tower or tree.

Have you heard about the theory that Stygai might be ruled by greenseers and that's what terrified Melisandre when she saw blood raven in her vision? That blood raven talks about how the dark will make Bran stronger and it's called the corpse city because maybe the corpse there are like the corpses in the cave with blood raven

im sorry but if the tree looks like its on fire when seen against the rising sign.| we gotta burn the tree to bring on summer. That means bran has to die and he isnt the king

Really great video! I can't wait to see more. Do any other characters have arcs or imagery associated with tarot cards? You might have found a vital piece of Martin's process. A tin foil thought of my own is that if you turn the card upside down the figures are flying away from an explosion. A possible turning point in the story for Bran. What goes down must come up :) And scraping the barrel even further I would suggest that to fly is to run (Thank you Gandalf) and what kind of running can a paraplegic prince do? Running a kingdom, of course. I will let myself out now :)

well of course turning tarot cards upside down and reinterpreting them is entirely appropriate, and the opposite of falling is flying, in terms of direction. So I think both directions are implied - one rises to the top of the tower to attain enlightenment, but are then thrown out or have to leap out, so it goes both ways.

There's also obvious, under-arching shamanic symbolism at play here I think. Climbing a ladder or... a tree, a tower, to get to the Upper World of the Gods, then descending into the Lower/Under World of ancestral spirits/mentors. All that is classic shamanic journeying. And the shamanic initiation itself of going through physical/mental trauma, in Bran's case having his spine shattered and entering a deep coma. Him being disabled also brings to mind the concept of the wounded healer, especially if you're right and he turns out to be a positive figure for the future of Westerosi society (I'm still undecided about that lol, another theory crafter I follow is of the opinion Bran could also become subsumed by the hivemind of the CotF + Weirnet and as such, a tool used for exacting revenge upon humankind - you both present convincing arguments). Have you also looked into the character of SweetRobin? There are a couple of interesting parallels at play, not to mention he literally sits (or at least he did for a while) a weirwood "throne". ;) PS: Love your parrots!

What if the metaphor of "fire of the gods" is a little more literal? What if it was an actual fire-breathing dragon that he could warg into? Since bran at the end of the show is looking for drogon, perhaps this is some evidence?

This solitary tree! a living thing Produced too slowly ever to decay; Of form and aspect too magnificent To be destroyed. But worthier still of note Are those fraternal four of Borrowdale, Joined in one solemn and capacious grove; Huge trunks! and each particular trunk a growth Of intertwisted fibres serpentine Up-coiling, and inveterately convolved; Nor uninformed with fantasy, and looks That threaten the profane;-a pillared shade, Upon whose grassless floor of red-brown hue, By sheddings from the pining umbrage tinged Perennially,-beneath whose sable roof Of boughs, as if for festal purpose, decked With unrejoicing berries, ghostly shapes May meet at noontide,-Fear and trembling Hope, Silence and Foresight; Death the skeleton And Time the shadow,-there to celebrate, As in a natural temple scattered o’er With altars undisturbed of mossy stone, United worship; or in mute repose To lie, and listen to the mountain flood Murmuring from Glaramara’s inmost caves.
