That's wild I never knew King Caesar was basically a golem/construct. That's freaking awesome. He's one of my favorites from the showa era. I hope we see more of him in future films. Great work as always Scifi explained

I've always loved the Showa era the most and this guy is a good part of that. Even if the camp of those films hasn't exactly held up in my current age, the designs of those films were so much more intricate in my opinion. When I picked up Godzilla: Battle Line and saw that, of the few Showa Kaiju in the game, King Caesar was one that still saw high level play, I got VERY happy.

I like how canonically he chilled out during various threats to the world (Ghidorah, Gigan, etc.) and didn’t give a shit until Mecha Godzilla showed up. Then he woke up, kicked his ass with Godzilla, then went right back to sleep.

Great video! I had no idea King Caesar was an ancient machine of sorts. I'm probably not the first one to make this observation... but I thought Kong in Legendary's "Godzilla vs. Kong" was similar to King Caesar, in terms of lore... especially if one thinks of that movie as being loosely based on Toho's "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla."

i always loved him--especially now as an adult. He doesn't get enough respect (at least with western G fans IMO); because of your video review I'm gonna stop calling Caesar but King Shisa. Hope he appears someday in the Monsterverse. I always loved his roar--which I believe is Kong's voice from KK Escapes; however, I'm surprised King Shisa is a Golem. He seems to been able to stragegize moves and counter attacks against Mecha G in the movie--that seems like a thinking creature to me.

That's one aspect of kaiju that I quite like compared to other movie monsters; they aren't stupid. They can think, feel, adapt, laugh, be saddened, etc., and most importantly, have character.

Great video. I’ve always wondered about that prophecy sequence in the 1974 film which you showed an excerpt from. When she speaks of the prophecy saying a monster will appear to destroy the world, they show a still image of King Ghidora and you hear his distinctive roar. This never made any sense to me, as Ghidora is not otherwise in the film. It feels really random. Can anyone explain it?

Showa is my favorite era, it even has my two favorite movies: Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla is a really good film as well, though King Caesar didn’t do much in it despite all of the hype around him.

Now hopefully Toho will make more Godzilla movies which are much better than Legendary's attempts in using characters they don't understand how to use properly.

Wouldn't Final Wars King Caesar be biological though? The Xiliens were able to take control of him because he too had the m-base DNA in him. He would only shear the same origin as the Showa version of him being a guardian but not that he is a golem.

Maybe one of the Izumi clan members was also one of those m-base human mutants which allowed the aliens to take control of them and by extension let them seize control of King Shisa since he basically is a servant of the family.

@@LordOmnissiah Most likely that he's biological, thing to note is that unlike the Showa version he does not have gem for eyes but real eyeballs, probably a way to show that he was biological to make sense that he has the m-base DNA in him.
