King Charles Presented with the Key to Edinburgh in the Historic Key Ceremony at Holyrood Palace

Following in the footsteps of his mother, King Charles travels to Scotland for a historic ceremony on 3 July 2023. The historic Ceremony of the Keys is the traditional opener to Holyrood week for the royal family. The monarch arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was presented with the Key to Edinburgh by The Lord Provost.
2 SCOTS - Pipes, Drums & Bugles, The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and The Royal Company of Archers took part in this ceremony.

My granddaughter was on her way to work when the parade went past she was surprised to see William she didn't know this coronation was going to take place she is from SA I love the Royals so enjoyed the video so much the pipes and drums are my favorite 😊

For me this is beginning to feel a bit passé. What real relevance does it have in 2023 ? Enjoy a Pipe Band, parade the Crown Jewels through the street so ALL the people can see them ( for free ) and let the new King walk about amongst his people in normal clothes - then ALL go & have a party/picnic/feast. Celebrate all that is Scottish without the pomp & circumstance & hoo ha. Leave off the National Anthem & it’s German origins and play Flower of Scotland !!!

This ceremony, which I haven't seen in its entirety before, moved me. Ever since Victoria, Sovereigns have been truly at home in Scotland, non more so than Her Late Majesty and His Majesty. One could see his complete involvement in his animated conversation with members of the Guard of Honour. It is good to see that the Clans have finely got their Bonney Prince Charlie, God Save Corolus Tertius Rex. That comes from an English Jacobite. To the Scots reading this put aside all thoughts of independence we are stronger together. The Royal Scots Greys didn't charge at Waterloo for Scotland, they charged for His Grace Arthur, Duke of Wellington, and The United Kingdon. God Bless Alba.

I was surprised to see that the man leading the players was not wearing A kilt but a pair of trousers made of the tartan fabric. What do you think was The reason for this? I'm not at all familiar with anything in The crowning in Scotland. I happen to be a 100 per cent of Finnish Blood,a Finn who has visited Edinburgh once in her life. I really thought if a kilt is worn it's of the same well, model... All The best from Finland enjoying beautiful warm summer months. All is well here, only the neighbour is making much trouble in the Ukraine.. Some Ukrainians live in Finland now, mostly women and children and we take care of them. When Philip died Charles inherited his titles but when he became King those titles became extinct. In May 2023 Charles's brother Edward was given a new title of Duke of Edinburgh but this new creation is for Edwards lifetime only. And no Edinburgh is not a retirement community
