Britain’s King Charles has been presented with the Scottish crown jewels as part of a ceremony to mark his coronation.
Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales joined the King in St Giles' Cathedral for the ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland - which celebrated the King’s Coronation.
Thousands of people gathered in Scotland's capital to watch the celebrations, including many taking part in a ‘People’s Procession'.
There were also a number of protests and anti-monarchy rallies taking place across the city, with a small group of protesters arrested.

This sickens me, their life is like the Truman show on steroids no one could possibly envy that, from birth til death scrutinised beyond comprehension. They have served this country and bring more to our economy through tourism than is received by them from tax payers. Is upkeep on castles and stately homes cheap? These places we love to visit, should they be left to ruin? Yes the pageantry is outdated but its also our heritage on display, a true deep dive story into where we as a group of nations have come from and a constant reminder of the democratic growth our ancestors were a part of. Show some respect.

Honestly I don't understand why some people in Scotland make it seem as if Scotland was subjugated and brought under the British monarchy. Let's go back to history, on the 24th of march 1603 Queen Elizabeth I ruler of England and Ireland died, we all know she refused to marry and as such she died childless. The closest person in line was her distant relative King James VI of Scotland. King James VI succeeded Queen Elizabeth I. This was possible because Queen Elizabeth I's paternal aunty named Margaret Tudor married King James VI's great grand father named King James IV in 1503. James VI of Scotland moved his court from Edinburgh to London perhaps because London was and Is a bigger city. James was now King of England, Scotland and Ireland; three realms one monarch. When Queen Anne who reigned from 1702 to 1714 died, there were so many Catholics in the royal family, since only a protestant can sit on the British throne her distant relative George the elector of Hanover in modern Germany was invited to succeed her. King George I was a great grand son of King James I through his mother Sophia. Queen Victoria I was the great great grand daughter of George I and of course King Charles III is the great great great grand son of Queen Victoria I. From the above analysis you see that King Charles III is a descendant of King James I, and more importantly Scotland and England joined because of the marriage between Margaret Tudor eldest daughter of King Henry VII of England and her husband King James IV of Scotland. From a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria I say God save King Charles III.

Because we value tradition and culture and I don't know why people suddenly feel that the UK is some backwards place, it is literally one of the biggest economies in the world, we have a much better life here than compared to places like the states, I don't have to worry about if I went to school would I get shot by some rowdy teenagers, or better than India or Pakistan to which my family both hail from, I can tell you living in the UK is a dream and I value british culture and also the monarchy as a stable force and is a sense of pride for me and my family.

Gentle reminder to the Scottish Republicans that the Kings of the UK are direct descendants of the Scottish Monarchs (including Robert the Bruce) and in fact, inherited the throne of England leading to the path of the Acts of Union, not the other way around. If Scotland ever gained independence it would actually make more sense for England to abolish the monarchy rather than the Scots (although neither should happen).
