Did King Cold have a Final Form in Dragon Ball Z? And if so, why didn't he use it against Trunks? Have we ever seen King Cold's Final Form before, and will we ever see it again?
Dragon Ball Super likes to retread a lot of old story lines, for better or for worse. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is no different. Frieza continues to get more forms as the years go on, Golden Frieza, Black Frieza & so does Cooler, in fact, Cooler has 2 Golden Forms. Metal Golden Cooler & The Golden Ultimate Form Cooler.
Will we ever see Golden King Cold? or Black King Cold? & What about Frost, will we ever see Black Frost or Golden Frost?

I'm firmly in the camp that Cold was in his true form the whole time, especially after the lore established in Xenoverse that Frieza's race grow their own "clothing", meaning that horned head crest might basically just be his "crown". It was also said in Resurrection F that Frieza intentionally chose to make his new augmented form gold to mock Super Saiyan. As such, it seems all the more likely the resemblance between Frieza's second restricted form and his father was likewise an intentional choice made by Frieza. That said, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if King Cold shows up in DBH at some point with a new augmented form of his own.

Also, while Trunks might not have given Cold the chance to transform, it's important to remember that in the original timeline, it was Goku who killed cold, and Goku has never been the sort to outright kill someone without giving them a fighting chance. At the very least that puts the upper limits of any transformations Cold might have had as still being weaker than Goku.

I don't think we can take Xenoverse's statements as canon, really. As far as we know the Frieza race is capable of choosing the color for their transformations but not much else. I think it's best to conclude the King Cold could in fact transform in the canon. I think it's obvious considering Frost and Frieza in their true/final forms look nothing like Cold. Even other "frost demons" designed by Akira follow this design philosphy for their true form, I mean Kuriza and Cooler. Plus what you said about Frieza designing his second form after his father doesn't really make sense if you consider that Frost's second form also looks like Cold, acording to Toyotaro at least. And yeah, even though its mistranslated, Cold is in fact weaker than Frieza in his hypotetical final form, so Goku in the original timeline could have taken care of him with ease.

Plus it explains a why he’s such a coward when he has voice lines in any other game, like when you interact with him in Kakarot after beating his minions. Once he finds out Gohan is a super saiyan, he names him his adopted son JUST so he doesn’t have to fight a super saiyan. No transformations in sight

Huh? 🤔 King Cold can't transform because of his age would definitely work since we know when Sayian turn 80 they start aging rapidly and start losing power too. Maybe when that inevitable Black Frieza Arc happens, we hear more about Frieza and King Cold's Race. 🤔 Which is another mystery in DB. 😑

How can you end up in a conclusion like that? Why would the frieza race work like the saiyans? It doesnt make any sense It makes more sense that he can in fact transform as he is clearly not in the true form of his race, like Frost, Frieza and Kuriza stated. He is obviously transformed when we saw him.

My head canon is that King Cold can transform, just not with as many forms as Frieza has. This is his only suppressed form, but his final form isn't as strong as Frieza's. In his youth, Cold was probably closer to Frieza, but never as strong.

Considering Frieza's been referred to as a mutant I'm led to believe that King Cold was probably the first of his race to transform into that second stage and immediately used that to genocide his own kind and become the supreme unchallenged ruler of the galaxy. He then made Frieza somehow (test tube baby?) and raised him as a successor, teaching Frieza the secret of transformation. Frieza then continued to experiment with the ability and figured out the third and fourth transformations on his own. King Cold probably found it redundant and never bothered.

Frieza’s race is asexual, plus they make SUPPRESSED forms, there aren’t any actual power up transformations until golden frieza, and as far as we know frieza is the only one able to do it (not counting heroes) Plus frieza is more of a mutant than Cold is, which is why he had to suppress himself so much. He had so much power from birth that his potential was just insane. I don’t think enough people think about the fact that frieza is just *that guy*

In the original anime dub, it was stated that king cold was stronger than Frieza. Maybe they sensed that King Cold had a final form he could transform into, but that would still be nothing to Trunks or that the Ki they sensed from him being stronger than Frieza was the Ki we see from the form we already saw which was King Cold’s final form. In either case, he’s nothing compared to Trunks or any SSJ that had a decent amount of training.

Original anime dub? If you’re referring to funimation’s dub it’s about as fact trustworthy as someone telling you the story from the pictures alone, if you mean the original Japanese version, it isn’t a dub

He either could be too old to sustain his life force in his final form or is he just in his first form except because he's much much older than Frieza which is probably why he is gigantic maybe having different transformations than that of Frieza's and Cooler's maybe he only needs to transform twice but takes more time for him due to his age and which is most likely why he gave his best genetics to Frieza before going off to enjoy his retirement that is until 30 years later he's awestruck that someone managed to almost kill Frieza in ultimate form and probably regretted listening to Frieza's killing al the earthlings plan before Goku got there

I don't think King Cold has any transformations, my belief is Frieza's final form is a result of him being a mutation so they had to regress him back to his clans natural 1st form

Not taking away from what you said I think it’s a really cool concept that frieza is a crazy almost x-men mutant, lol

@@dante_fazo3173yeah they are both mutants according to Toriyama so this doesnt really make any sense. Plus we've seen Frost's true form and he doesn't look like Cold in the slightest. Plus other "frost demons" designed by Akira (Kuriza and Cooler) also have their true form looking like Frieza's. I think its pretty obvious to conclude that King Cold was far from his final form really.

More then likely all of Frieza's race look like his final form and probably all of them can even suppress themselves into lower forms. And the mutations were just insane power and probably durability (I bet the rest of the race can't survive being cut in half or some of the other insane shit he and cooler show) maybe even the fact they're able to further expand their forms (like Cooler's Fifth form or Golden Frieza or Black Frieza) but I really do doubt any interpretation that says that Cold was in his true form. Which is why I really like the idea that it was due to old age and in fact I love that it makes for some parallel's to the Saiyan's that both are super strong warrior like races that stay in their prime and then rapidly age and get weaker when they hit their species 'old age' range. Correction the form we see cooler in is confirmed to be his true form his final form is the form he found beyond his races true form the true form and the final form are 2 different things

That’s not a correction though. His “Final Form” is and always will be the first form we ever see him in, that’s what it was referred to in the Japanese movie text, that’s what it’s translate as in the guide books, games etc. it’s only called this in the first place to spread the gimmick for his further form, to suggest there was a transformation BEYOND Freeza’s final form. If Cooler’s final form wasn’t described as his Final Form, the transformation would have no grounds for us to base the accomplishment on & thusly spoil the surprise gimmick of the character & the movie. I refer to his further form as his “ultimate form” because everybody understands the form I’m talking about. I appreciate what you’re trying to say, but please don’t spread fan-isms as ‘corrections’. As Cooler is a movie only character (for now), Toriyama’s original descriptions for the concept art he originally did & the subsequent information from the movies & guide books are the only source to trust for the info we have. I always kinda thought Cold who was made before the others is in a final form, my big point is look at cooler made shortly after Cold and he is taller than Frieza so Cold should be taller still check. Now the other thing is look at the final form compared to the others Frieza has a pink binding look on his limbs Cold and Cooler dont. Idk I always liked Frieza made his second form look like his dads final one since really we only see Frost have the same transformations as Frieza and Cooler has one they don't so why would Cold have the same forms as his son? But most likely they probably will just give him a final form just to make me wrong lol.

Thats because you are wrong. Literally every "frost demon" in the canon and designed by Akira besides Cold has their true form looking like Frieza's (Frieza and Frost in the canon, and also Kuriza and Cooler by Akira's design). Also it wouldn't make sense for Frieza to design his second form after his father because Toyotaro's design for Frost's second form also looks like Cold.

I think the answer is obvious. Yes Cold can transform, and yes he wasn’t in his true form when he came to earth. It’s also worth noting that the Trunks arc wasn’t meant to highlight King Cold as a main villain. He wasn’t really relevant to the plot so Toriyama didn’t wanna waste any time on another long drawn out fight with Cold, therefore he gave him a quick death. And, it’s HIGHLY unlikely that Trunks would’ve slowed Cold the time to transform

That wouldn’t be obvious, though. Freeza spent the entire Namek arc talking about how he is the most powerful being in the universe, his father literally handed him his empire and were expected to believe that King Cold is stronger? That’s silly. If he was stronger than Freeza he wouldn’t have stepped down. And if the rebuttal to that is “well, he’s old” then he most likely is too old to fight/be considered stronger than Freeza anyway. …whichever way you spin it, King Cold being stronger than Freeza makes no sense. It’s much more logical, that this is just what his final form looks like.

@@WKKanjiNeedsCoffee what you just said is COMPLETELY backwards lol. First, yes Frieza used to claim he was the strongest based on his EGO! Deep down he knew he wasn’t because he knew of the existence of Beerus and other gods. If Frieza was stronger than Cold he would’ve killed him a LONG time ago since Frieza is selfish. On Namek Frieza told goku that the only ones to ever damage him was his parents. So it only makes sense that Cold being the FATHER is much stronger. That’s the only way he can keep someone like Frieza in check. Also remember that when the Frieza force suggested reviving Cold, Frieza immediately told them no. Why? Because he knows of Colds true power and he doesn’t wanna be told what to do. Also, Colds retirement has nothing to do with Frieza being stronger. Most likely, Cold is very old and doesn’t wanna be bothered with such matters as much so he put his son in charge. I suggest you go and watch the Dragonball Multiverse manga. They provide a spot on depiction of King Cold and his true power
