I'm very sorry, but this update is terrible. EDIT: It's a DLC, not an update. My bad. -1 crew member who can't even help you do anything on that giant boat that could store 50 people comfortably -doesn't explain how to sex a crab and just assumes you know everything -waaaaaaaaaaay too many pots allowed and definitely not enough time to even set all of them, not to mention gathering them all up again before they all rot Bugs are understandable. Annoying, yes, but these things aren't even bugged. Very cool features and all, but implemented horribly and unrealistically.

The good news is that the devs are updating the DLC daily now, and the next update will bring in more crew members, so Drae can sit in the captains chair again, and look sexy as hell. I THINK ... the developer wants the player to experience all the work of crabbing. In the real world you would work the boat 24 hours a day between two areas. You would have two sets of crew that work 12 hours per day. There would be no less than two deck hands working the pots, both setting and retrieving - and "I'm tired and want to rest" doesn't fly - AT ALL, that's legitimate grounds for dismissal as soon as the boat gets back to port. Most sailors know this before they sign on. If you are generous with your profits you would have a full time cook and an engineer. You would have a First Mate (that you trust) who runs the boat for the other 12 hours, and maybe even a third "bridge personnel" training for the mate's position (when you buy your second boat or your First Mate leaves for a better job). A boat like this, with two wheels (propellers) and two rudders, can be made to move sideways through the water, WITHOUT side thrusters. Any captain worth his salt learns how to do this pretty quickly or they don't get to be a Second Captain. I doubt the developer knows how this works. I've never run a crab boat but I'm a licensed captain and ran a supply boat similar to this in the Gulf oil fields. Instead of crab pots the decks are loaded with crates of food, materials and equipment and taken out to the off shore oil platforms. Although your boat terminology suffers from "serious land lubber-itous" (ie; "steering wheel" = helm, "main floor" = main deck - which it was actually the second deck) this was fun to watch you muddle through this wonky simulation! *At least the graphics and ship's motion are pretty realistic looking* . :)

We would have been very happy If we had had more time to add more futures for you. This is how it is sometimes when you working with a publisher. Happy to hear you like our graphics and models. To model a ship with a lot of details takes 2-3 month. I think it has definitive potential and we learned so much from our first title. Misc Games: As my screen name (may) imply, I have been working (as a hobby) in 3D modeling and animation for about 17 years. I became involved in creating content for several games which included an animated "fleet" tug boat and a static container ship. I fully understand how laborious it can be to create a decent looking model. *These models in this game are top notch* . Ironically, a lot of my models were created while sitting on a mooring ball waiting for the oil platform to call us for off-load which could take sometimes from 6 to 12 hours depending on what they were doing on the platform. I also know it's difficult to decide what part of reality you should include in a game - too much reality makes for an overly complex game, too little and it looses interest very quickly. I think some of the game controls could use a little tuning, but overall this is a good simulation.

If you've ever seen a crab of any type carrying eggs, the shape of the "belly flap" for both male and female becomes obvious. The wide flap on the female offers protection - like a shield - for the eggs. Most people's experience with King Crabs is a pile of spindly legs at an "all you can eat " buffet - so a quick reference image could be included in the game instructions. It actually is a VERY important aspect in selling a legal crab haul - not so much with Atlantic Blue crab but definitely with Kings.

My main gripe of this game is not having the ability to fast forward time in your boat. If I have a large boat with an anchor, I should be able to anchor it and rest in the captain quarters, by doing so, time can be fast forward. I can understand not being able to do this with a smaller boat, but at least give me the option to fast forward time in a larger boat, without me having to sail my boat in and out of the harbor. It doesn't make any sense and it's extremely frustrating, but I have hope that the developers will resolve this issue.

So with recent patches you can now have 4 crew (2 resting, 2 baiting and sorting) All you have to do is drive and run the crane. The deckhands load and unload the pots automatically.

Males have a rough triangle with a line running down the middle of their belly and females have a smooth oval with no line. Hope this helps. You can also just hold the E button to empty pots.

Female crabs have a wide apron ("flap on their belly) and males have a small one here in the game it's hard to make out but look for the bulkier, rounder bellies, those are the females. They also have smaller claws which they show pretty accurately in the game. So big claws and thin belly is what gives you the money lol. And yes, I'm actually into crabs. Got some as pets.

Bought this DLC just for the Selfy boat. Even though I love Deadliest Catch, and am rewatching it nowadays, I couldn't be arsed to do it in this game. Much easier to do long boi line fishing (10k hooks), nets before that, and trawling after.

I got the smaller crab boat. Once engine is totally upgraded, empty hold it can go approx 50 klms per hour and has a sweet long range fuel tank. Can't hold more than 18,000 kg of fish but haven't done crab yet so don't know if the hold increases or not. Only you and the one crew member. Weird DLC but the Selfie/Selfa is fastest boat and quite buoyant in bad weather and obviously can be used for long line/other fishing methods too. If long line fishing, have a good hand gutter on board with good stamina, and put him/her to work. I'm watching this video to see if I can try for crab but I couldn't tell from images on screen which crab was which. Not in any obvious way quickly, at any rate (though in real life, other types of crabs I've seen the difference easily). Good to know you lose your catch if you wreck your boat. Can't put improved machine gutter on this smaller crab boat though. The game is still a little glitchy (*first logging in, sea is always pretty calm, then changes to match weather for the day* & hand gutting, when doing it myself, the game play mechanics doesn't look like what I've seen in other people's vids) but I'm generally enjoying it. Looking forward to the newest version promised for 2020. :D

the way king drab work to tell if they're male or female is the male will basically have a rocket ship on their bottom while the female will have a rounded belly. that is the system in the game.

When you flip amale and female Alaskan king crab over, you can readily see a difference in the tail flaps that fold over the bottoms of their shells. ... Here's a comparison on male and female crabs. The male ones have sharper ridges on their underside, the females look more bulgy.
