Yeah... and if they did - I ´d be happily listening to it from then till this day ;) First heard Red in 1974.... so you understand..

Fripp pretty much all but said that when he decided to "withhold my opinion" when rehearsing for and recording this album, and let the other two make the musical decisions.

One reason why "Red" is close to being the best K C album in terms of it's production values. The sound is open, spacious, and evenly distributed, you can hear everything on this recording which must have pleased Bruford especially. His bass drum and hi-hat are actually up in the mix and are clearly distinguishable throughout. With their re-issue of the album some years back Fripp and Wilson (was it Wilson?) ruined this, re-producing the album in effect giving it more of the standard Fripp sound - everything compressed and seemingly distant with, no surprise here, Bruford suffering the most. Cheers!

Fucking mind blowing, to think this is nearly 50 years old 🤔🤪 The subtle intensity of the late great , Mr versatility in demand 70's Bassist Mr. John Wetton and the melodic cross pattern shifting sand rhythms of the most elegant prog drums ever committed to vinyl from Mr unique Mr Bill Bruford.

How...why Fripp with zero warning just pulled the plug on his best Crimson lineup only after two years is an utter mystery. They should have at the very least finished out the 70s with a couple more records. Fripp's solo work was certainly good but nowhere near as awesome as his finest Crimson roster.

In the official King Crimson biography, they get more into Robert Fripp’s reasoning. He was becoming increasingly weary, namely spiritually, with the music industry and the band itself. Robert Fripp found it difficult working with Bill Bruford and John Wetton said he planned on giving the band another year to see where things went. Robert Fripp was worried John Wetton would move on if King Crimson did not achieve success, which added up to disbanding. It is truly lamentable because King Crimson were on the verge of breakout success and the presence of Ian McDonald on Red could have led to even more incredible musical possibilities for King Crimson. Alas, it was not meant to be…

After listening to this, does anyone still dare to claim that there is a cello in Red - it's a bass!
@trevor.c2112 Жыл бұрын
There is, it's just playing in harmony with Wetton's bass

Probably demo version I guess. We can feel the tempo is not as stable as in the record version. There are 2 bass parts also. Great to listen to this take anyway !

@@lavisseregis830 There were no demos - for who ? it was King Crimson for Christs sake :) And Red was recorded in a haste.... The tempo is Bill Bruford stable.. he never ever faltered, that much you should know..

@@ripadblock To be really honest... After listening to this over and over.. I am not sure about the true provenance of this.. but why would there be some hacks trying to recreate the real thing ? Why would they waste the time while knowing not being up to it.. this is not a garage band stuff .. Bill B. - YOU tell me 🤗

Secondo voi, Wetton qui suona con il plettro oppure no?

Mi sembra di sì, anche se è difficile capirlo per la distorsione, comunque in live la suonava sia con che senza
