That s why,both of them were insclaved by two women who had some sexual skils.And Bertie was a stutterer, like out king Michael of Romania, who was his nephew. And they look alike. @Diana-03123 жыл бұрын

@pattimessenger62143 жыл бұрын
Maybe unbelievable because he was born on the anniversary of Prince Albert’s death. The family was concerned about how Queen Victoria would feel toward the baby boy. They named him Albert, after his great grandfather. This is from Wikipedia: “Uncertain of how the Prince Consort's widow, Queen Victoria, would take the news of the birth, the Prince of Wales wrote to the Duke of York that the Queen had been "rather distressed". Two days later, he wrote again: "I really think it would gratify her if you yourself proposed the name Albert to her."[4] The Queen was mollified by the proposal to name the new baby Albert, and wrote to the Duchess of York: "I am all impatience to see the new one, born on such a sad day but rather more dear to me, especially as he will be called by that dear name which is a byword for all that is great and good”

It wasnt until her uncle abdicated that when she was age 12 her father became King. He was 41 years old when he took the throne. 41 years old with a 12 year old. Vs. a 25 year old with toddlers! In contrast her own children Anne and Charles were 5 and 3 at the time when she became Queen. I kept being confused by thoughts about genetics. George the V, and George the VI and his brother are so similar... And then, from Elizabeth it seems to me that they are taking after queen Mary
@kayehartfield98925 жыл бұрын
Yes they do seem to look like Queen Mary, who looked a lot like her great-grandmother Queen Charlotte (George III's queen)

"drilled like soldiers by their father" Oh, good grief. They're playing for crying out loud. You've never seen kids playing soldier or similar things? There is no evidence that George ever said that quote about making sure his children were frightened of him.

The queen mother treated people awful and died in so much dept I expect it died with her totally wrong she demanded people locked her boots so to speak. I am just glad our queen Elizabeth married prince Philip there are so good together and good for her. They have given this country more than any other royal has ever given this country I am proud to call them my queen and prince Philip, I always wondered why he wasn't given the title as king because that is how I see him. Princess Anne has also given her life to this country I look up to her too, and her two lovely children

The descriptions in the beginning are contradicted by the historical record. George V had a strong sense of duty that he tried to pass to his sons but was no more "cruel" or distant than the average upper class British father of the times. He was also known to be enraptured with his grandchildren, particularly Elizabeth and Margaret.
@zzzbbbooo4 жыл бұрын
Not sure about this. George WAS a pretty terrible father. Fathers in that time were strict, but he could actually be cruel, there's a difference. He did have good qualities though, to be sure. He was an exemplary monarch.

+Juanita Richards Your comment is less than complete. If you read "Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother the official biography" by William Shawcross and the published collection of her letters you will learn why she took so long to accept The Duke of York's proposal. By the time of their formal engagement they adored each other and this continued for the rest of their lives, as every photograph clearly shows.
