VF is my favorite fighting game franchise personally but if I had to pick: Gameplay:VF Roster:KOF Story:KOF obviously lol Music:KOF Impact:VF The main issue with VF is the lack on continuity with their story.

Interesting you made a video called KOF vs. VF. The mobile game KOF all-stars had a VF5 collab. Which was crazy at the time because the week b4 i finished watching the VF anime. In one episode of the anime Paichan for a brief moment was wearing a Terry Bogard inspired disguise. She was rocking a black cap, jacket with metal on it similar to the Fatal Fury movie. Also Mai Shiranui with VF characters are in DOA 5 last round.

I love the Virtua Fighter Series, been a fan since I saw the attract mode for VF2. I was 10 back in 1994 when the game was released in arcades. I’ve never seen such a fluid and visually appealing looking game ever at the time. As much as I love the VF series….. overall I gotta give it to the KOF series, not by an overwhelming majority, because I definitely play both series all the time, but I have more fun playing KOF.

They both have their share of Terrible Mismanagement over the Years, The KOF series nearly Died after burning so much Money into the 13th Installment and went on a 5 or 6 year long Hiatus when KOF 14 came and then later KOF 15, Virtua Fighter on the other Hand has never gotten a new Installment since 2006, but instead it just keeps getting Re-Released into Modern Gen Consoles like PS4, PS5, XBOX One and Series X, possibly showing that Timing was really the Series's Bad Luck.

Virtua Fighter really felt like it would go far back in the day and even though it stopped at 5, it's good to see Tekken still carrying the torch. However, VF still feels so much more unique with its characters and fighting system, it's not really a game for casuals, it's as raw as they get.

I dunno about this, I feel the two series are so different that the comparisons are kind of a reach aside from KoF series clearly having a more thought out story. Also I do not agree that KoF has any less impact than Virtua Fighter as it was the very first team based fighter, and while it wasn't like how tag team fighters have become, it doesn't diminish its impact and we wouldn't have been seeing Marvel VS series or tag team modes in other fighting games without KoF. It was also the first fighting game with a premise being to crossover multiple fighting/videogame franchises too so, no, it's no less impactful.

One point I would give KOF is accessibility, not in the gameplay sense but in the buying sense. To play Virtua fighter 5 you need either a ps4/5, to buy yakuza, or sail the seven seas. KOF you can just buy it on any platform, so it gets a +1 for accessibility.

Gameplay: Virtua Fighter. Like Tekken, there's a lot going on and it's very unforgiving to master. Story: KOF by a mile. The Orochi Saga, NEST Saga and Ash Saga are regarded as one of the best storylines in fighting games. Graphics: Virtua Fighter, the 5th game came out a year after Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 3 and DOA 4 came out and it aged like fine wine. Roster: KOF. You have Art of Fighting characters, Fatal Fury characters, Samurai Showdown characters and Garou characters, Pyscho Soldier characters and Ikari Warrior characters together with the original KOF characters like Kyo, Iori, K', Ash, Shun'ei and Isla. OST: Subjective but I'm going for Virtua Fighter. Virtua Fighter is known to have great music no disrespect to KOF of course. Impact: Virtua Fighter. Without Virtua Fighter, Tekken, DOA and Soul Calibur wouldn't exist today. It's that simple. Virtua Fighter hasn't had a new game since Virtua Fighter 5 vanilla and had multiple updates like Virtua Fighter 5 R, Final Showdown and Ultimate Showdown which I have on my PS4. I'm glad Sega is finally making the new Virtua Fighter after nearly 20 years. KOF almost went out of existence since SNK were in financial trouble and had a massive hiatus after the end of the Ash Saga and KOF 14 dropped in 2016 and 6 years later KOF 15 came out. KOF is still going strong today amid the crisis SNK went through.

I don’t think the soundtrack & roster comparisons are that fair. KOF 15 shouldn’t have a better soundtrack because you can play songs from other KOF games. It should be better because the soundtrack has better songs that originate from KOF 15. I can understand the point towards KOF 15 for the roster, but the roster of KOF is team based, so I feel like it should be compared to other team based games. If not, then the roster should be judged on how different each character is in gameplay and personality.

I see your not a KOF XV fan. I love the game and personally game play wise it's better than the others. Believe me I loved Street Fighter IV. But I'm sorry Tekken and Mortal Kombat are good but New Street Fighter is all woke now. KOF blew me away with the ease of controls. It's just a more fluid game to me which makes more superior entertainment. Don't get me wrong they all have their place. I think the anime thing is what people don't like.

Though the Kof series hasn't been relevant at least here in the US, Latin America is where the kof brand is huge in popularity and culture. Virtua Fighter needs a new title or probably a reboot to the series to freshen up for vets and new audiences.
