One of the most glaring is the different versions of the story of how Carrie and Doug Heffernan met. One says they went to school together, and another says they met on a double date at a bar. The showrunners say that viewers can decide for themselves which one is the truth. Certain details about the characters didn’t stay consistent throughout the series. Spencer had a peanut allergy in later seasons but not in the first one. Arthur could play the piano in early episodes and then couldn’t later. Carrie was even called Simone as a child and doesn’t seem to remember it, even though she should be old enough to.
Other characters disappeared entirely. Richie, a core member of Doug’s friend group, went away without so much as a goodbye when the actor who played him wanted to move to another sitcom. Doug and Carrie also had sisters who appeared in the early seasons and then never came back. Even the dog they rescued from the Sakcheys went poof. Speaking of the Sakcheys, they disappeared after getting the Heffernans involved in a scam. That seemed normal until they reappeared with an inground pool seasons later. Why wouldn’t they mention the scam, and how the Scakchies escape jail? Details that wouldn’t have fit in New York, such as palm trees and restaurants, made their way in. There were also errors where exterior shots of their house didn’t match the interior.

Arthur's window was another thing that disappeared one episode later. In early episodes he already has a window but on the other side of the room. Same goes for the small refridgerator they got in one episode. And Doug drives his motorcycle into his other refridgerator in one episode and it was totally undamaged the next episodes.

In the paintball episode (season 3) Doug introduces Danny to Spence with "you remember my cousin Danny," as if they'd barely met, yet in season 4 (the one where Carrie wears a bun), apparently Danny and Spence went to high school together? Oh, and the boom mic made many guest appearances at the top of the screen quite often. Side note: The theme song is my ringtone for my wife. We are a lot like Doug & Carrie

One of my fav’s is when Carrie follows Doug whose wearing a clown suit so he can make Major not afraid of him anymore. The scene is where she follows him up the fire escape and he hits her in the face with the water from the flower on his jacket. I was cracking up, then she catches up with him and gives him a few. I couldn’t stop laughing!!! Another good one is when they do the skit of the Honeymooners. Both Kev & Leah had the characters down, especially when Doug does the “Table Walker behind Carrie! Excellent mantra to the great Jackie Gleason! Both of them are very talented actors

the whole mold storyline was awesome. I think this and the Arthur in the hospital storyline are the only ones that are stretched over more than 1 episode. Also the stuff from the "Apple Hotel" episode is referred to in a few other episodes.

In "Flash Photography," there are at least 20 guests at the Heffernan house for a post-wedding day brunch, and Carrie comes out with a tray of about six cinnamon rolls. In the same episode, are we to believe that Arthur didn't hear Doug and Deacon talking at the gym about Doug's culpability? When Doug shuts his locker, there's Arthur hiding behind it, and Arthur says something like, "Aha, I knew it was a frame." Then he begins talking as though he knows nothing about what Doug and Deacon said. That made no sense to me.

Loved when it was Arthur’s birthday. Carrie got him home. Only everyone left cause the two men at the surprise party realized Arthur was fooling around with one of the wife’s. That left Arthur to waiting outside practicing his surprised look. Till it started getting dark out. Till eventually Carrie’ shut off all the lights in the house. Leaving Arthur sitting on the porch!! 😂😂😂 That made me laugh so much.

In the ice cream truck episode, you can clearly see mountains in the background during the chase scene. Ain't no mountains in Queens. Also, in the episode where Doug tries to get out of spending a Thanksgiving weekend with a couple he doesn't like, there's an outdoor basketball game and all the trees still have leaves on them. All green leaves I might add.

Spence's Mom was portrayed by two different actresses. At first she was played by Grace Zabriskie and then got replaced by Anne Meara in later episodes. She was Jerry Stiller's wife. Their daughter Amy Stiller appears from time to time playing different characters as well.

Another blunder was the episode where Carrie tries to get Doug to read and they join the night class book club. Doug and Carrie are sitting on the couch getting ready to read and in the first shot he has everything he needs, his book, reading light and book mark. In the next shot a second later, his book is gone and he runs upstairs to get his book because he forgot it lol.

My favourite episode was “major disturbance” where Doug scares major and deacon give there cruise tickets up but Doug feels guilty and dresses up as a clown but carrie sees him and follows him there, beating him up in front of major scaring him even more. Great episode.

ARTHUR SPOONER was my favorite episode and you missed the blooper in that episode where Doug is sitting at the table with Arthur and deacon and Doug says to Arthur "LETS THROW BACK A COUPLE OF ROB ROYS" and Arthur can't contain himself and breaks character with a laugh at Doug. I love that show so much but my love for it was tarnished when I found out it wasn't filmed in queens because that took the authenticity out of it and I say that because I was born and raised and probably been in every section of queens and I love my city from the bottom of my heart.

Re: the part about Doug and Carrie's sisters. Some episodes mention Carrie's sisters, yet on one episode, Carrie says that she's "an only child." There was a similar blooper on "All In The Family." On one episode, someone asks Archie Bunker if he ever observes National Brotherhood Week, to which ignorant Archie, misunderstanding the question, replies that he's "an only child." Yet, other episodes mention that Archie does have a brother or two, as well as a sister.

This was something I was wondered about the show, ever since I started watching it many moons ago, and now this episode has confirmed said thoughts. Sounds like the thing is with this show was, even though it was written well in terms of comedy, it was not well written at all in terms of a narrative story telling fashion. Things conflicting as much as they did and how much things didn't make sense going forward, just shows how badly the show runners did on this show. I will say I love this show and the nostalgia that it gives me. But let's just be real here and call it for what it is, you can't just write something out without an explanation, don't just never talk about it again. That's just horribly lazy writing. Cool, it was a fun show, but when you realize how little effort people did to make a story makes sense, when it's actually not that hard to give something, it is super bothersome. I love film making and I just got out of film school, which makes this all the more annoying to know. Like take some initiative damn it lol. Either way though, aside from me bashing the show runners, it was a very funny and relaxing watch. I did love it, it's just a thing that sitcoms do, which is to be lazy on certain things such as the story, cause some don't deem that as important. But it is. Anyways though, thank you team for bringing a fun time to my life and others as well with this show.
