He specifically uses an example of a person turning a piece of land into a chicken farm (sounds kind of silly, but bear with me) and the owner decides each chicken is worth $30 dollars. In a capitalistic situation, as he states, the owner is allowed to do this, but capitalism also allows the potential buyers to accept or reject this offer. In the case of Hank in this episode, capitalism basically allows Buck to do what he did with Hank, but Hank is allowed to decide the value of his labor. With that part about treating employees well, I think it's also worth mentioning the other reason as to why. While there's the fact that yeah, if you treat them well they'll stick around, another important fact is that employee relations can impact your business even more than customer relations. You have to be very careful with how you treat your employees, because word spreads fast if you so much as think about being rude to one. I had a boss once who had a reputation for losing his cool with employees and yelling at them. Something which he did in the first month he owned the place. Despite it only being a month, and him drastically backpedaling those actions, he struggled to find any new staff to work for him for the next two years.

No cruise night is not usually about washing cars together, the car wash in this case is a venue, cruise nights are a way to show off and talk about vehicles, mostly sports cars, muscle cars or show cars, other venues for this usually are, parks, malls, speedway, and fairgrounds

This is yet another one of my favorite Kahn episodes! i mean i know it's just another chapter in his never ending quest to becoming more successful than those he looks down on and etc, and he may have acted like a total jerk especially to Hank but the episode has it's share of moments that made me laugh. Although i will admit that one of the only things about this episode that bugged me was that Kahn got the dumb idea to buy out the carwash because of those dumb "how to get rich quick" videos, i can't believe anyone would actually listen to and or believe in any of the nonesense that they say in those videos.

From what I've seen of his content so far, Shady has a bit too strong/strict an expectation of consistency and realism in fictional shows. Not to say he doesn't make good points, but some of the moments I disagree with him have been when he seems to just assume something _has_ to have a straightforward and clear conclusion (and I mean something that is up to his standard of it, or is in your face explicit in what it is doing) or _has_ to have some sort of development or change, when that isn't always necessary to a show and can sometimes work against it. It is nice to see Hank stand up for himself. I almost get the sense he fully expected Buck to back him up, since the way he says "If you say so sir" makes me feel like he was saying "Ball's in your court sir, what are you going to do about it?", and he was just quitting the car wash as a message to Buck.

1:00 hi I just wamt to point out something that happens in a later season. As you said, most of the time. Khan is a normal man with his own faults, but sometimes his "Khaness" gets turned up to 11. It may be because of "Flanderization" by the writers. But, in a later episode it's revealed that Khan suffers from Manic Depression, more commonly know as a bipolar disorder. So this story could easily fit into the idea that he is having a minor manic episode and that is why he is acting so recklessly in trying to "get rick quick"

the carwash thing, from the looks of it you had people washing their cars before going "cruising", which I can say in very small towns and cities there are places where cruising is something people did on the weekends. You would literally pile into a friends car to cruise up and down the main street trying to hook up. I went cruising quite a few times in High School.

You raise a good point maybe Hank could start a business if he had someone who understands the business world as a partner. So it would be like his partner runs the business side of the Venture while Hank works as the public face. So one covers all the business aspects while the other handles the public and worker relations. That's something I would do I'm looking till one day on my own business and if I can find someone who knows business I can be the face of it since I've worked the 9:00 to 5:00 the majority of my adult and Teenage life under various kinds of bosses

@@giancarlocaballero7684 doesn't matter if one becomes corrupt from capital or worker exploitation, the point of capitalism is having the freedom to do what do you want with the assets and resources you have. Nobody I know gets together with friends to wash their cars, but I do know two things that make me confident it's something that really happens. 1) If you want to keep your car from rusting out before its time, especially if you live in places like Iowa or Minnesota where we salt the roads in the winter, or someplace dry and dusty, like Oklahoma or TEXAS, you'll want to wash your car at least every other week. 2) In a community like Arlen, people will find ANY excuse to go hang out with old friends. In my local SAL, we take half an hour before the meeting to shoot the breeze and drink, 30-45 minutes for the actual meeting, and another few minutes of shooting the breeze and drinking before we go home.

4:42 I'm from Texas and I grew up in a semi-rural area in the 90s like in this show. Yes, they do actually, or at least they used to. When I was a kid, my dad would actually take me to these big fancy car wash places whenever he had to take care of me alone, and it was just like the one Hank and the guys go to in this scene. In fact one of my friends from HS once posted a few pictures of her childhood one time and some of them were also at a car wash lot, so I can say with confidence that this was a thing that people probably did, at least back in the 90s. Remember, this was all way before we had things like the internet to keep us all connected and busy 24/7. Back then, going to the gym, mall, library, or to these car wash places was for entertainment, not out of necessity. I don't know how it's like these days, I can imagine it's probably had a decrease in popularity like how malls or libraries have, but I can definitely see these places being used as weekly hangouts for some people.
