Liking the videos with Sara. Its great to have someone else to bounce conversation off of. George is really knowledgeable and a great host, but its more interesting to have two people! And Sara seems like she really knows a lot too (its just hard to compete with Georgea encyclpedic knife knowledge haha).

“Everyone needs one (of these)” Unless you’re Canadian then you have almost no knives whatsoever, and forget about carrying your butter knife unless you have one hell of a good reason that is not self-defence. Sucks so hard we aren’t allowed to have either of these styles up here.

I have both and like both. The only thing I don't like about gravity knives is how much they rattle in your pocket. You get attention without even pulling it out.
@PancakesPK192 ай бұрын
So I have done a similar test with my wife because where I live gravity knives are legal but auto otf's aren't. However the best thing about gravity knives and especially the exo's is the momentum opening. Obviously having to turn the blade upside down every time is going to be slower. But if you hold the main handle scale in your right hand where the blade is facing left and flick your wrist to the right the handle will open, blade will shoot out, and handle will snap closed, all almost instantly. In our tests out of 10 times- I was slower by .6-9 sec twice, matched speed 6 times, and was faster by .4-7 twice. But that was only in opening. Closing the exo is still super fast since all you have to do is hold the main handle side and tip it to the left and it will open and blade will drop at which point you tilt to the right/or use your hand to close it. We repeated the test with different auto otf's against the og exo (no lock), new locked og exo, exo-m, exo-u, exo-mini, exo-k, and a couple other gravity knives like the Ti-Slide and such. In almost every test (except for the exo-karambit) our average times were almost exact with the largest difference being .4 or 4/10s of a second for opening and cutting. 1.1 seconds for starting open, cutting, and closing. Lastly .8 or 8/10s of a second for opening, cutting, and closing. Considering the main argument that was used to make automatic knives illegal where I live was the ability to take a concealed closed knife, get the blade out, stab/cut someone, put the blade away, and conceal it again in a very fast time, it makes no sense that gravity knives are legal but autos aren't. There is less than a second difference between the two. (Also it makes no sense when talking about side opening automatics when a lot of spring assisted or just regular manual knives open just as fast or faster and side opening autos almost always need 2 hands to close where a lot of manuals (especially button, axis, or crossbar lock) only need 1 hand and can be closed faster than any side auto, but that's a different story) I was hoping this would be a real test in speed using the exo the way I think the majority of people do instead of literally using gravity and turning it upside down. But since it wasn't I figured I'd share my findings since we literary just conducted these tests 6 days ago.

Love my EXO, never knew anything about them until Blade Show Texas and then I had to have one. It's one of my EDCs, especially if I'm going to a steakhouse, because it's a freakin' scalpel. Even got a compliment from a waiter. And you don't have to point the EXO down to deploy, you can flick it, no problem. It's still not going to beat an OTF auto, I even have a side opening auto from Pro-Tech, I'm not going to beat that either, but it'll be a close finish. It's just the genius and simplicity at the same time of the EXO that makes me love it so much.

Pay close attention to local laws. Autos and gravity are legal in CO. But, not in Denver.

Denver, Aurora, Boulder and Lakewood are the colorado cities that have laws against carrying a switchblade. Ballistic knives are illegal in the entire state and I've heard stories of officers interpretation of Ballistic knife laws to include otf knives. They get dismissed in court but none the less they have to go through being arrested etc.
