The King’s Gambit is a chess opening that arises after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.f4.
White offers the f-pawn to divert Black’s e-pawn. If Black accepts the gambit, White has two main plans.
1) The first plan is to play d4 and Bxf4, regaining the gambit pawn with central domination.
2) The other plan is to play Nf3 and Bc4, followed by 0-0, when the semi-open f-file created after a pawn push to g3 allows White to attack the weakest point in Black’s position, the pawn on f7.
A drawback for White is that he weakens his own king’s position, exposing it for Black to deliver the annoying Qh4+ (or …Be7-h4+). With a black pawn on f4, White cannot usually respond to the check with g3, but if the king is forced to move, then it also loses the right to castle.
In this video, the RCA Academy Manager Angelos Kesaris analyses some of the interesting games from this opening. He explains how powerful this opening is for White, especially for games with shorter time-controls; i.e. blitz and rapid games.

the main thing you need to remember in King's gambit is- You need to have courage, without it you can't play this! you need to sacrifice pieces maybe 2 or sometimes 3, but your ultimate goal is to checkmate the king and yes, you need to think tactically, practice games, and yes you are gonna achieve your perfection😊

1) Nf4 --> g6 (check); Kg7 (if black's pawn takes the knight, it's mate in 1, Qh7 instantly wins, as white's white square bishop controls g8) 2) Qh6 (check); Kf6 (only possible move for black) 3) NxR (discovered check); Ke7 (only possible move for black) 4) Qg7 (check); Ke8 (only possible move for black) 5) Qf7 (mate) Nice puzzle!

@7:18 The first winning move I saw was a "blitz game" win with 1.N-d3 which is what i would have played in a bullet game with minimal time to make my move; as it would suffice for the win (2.NxQ is next), and precious seconds are saved on my bullet chess clock. Moral of the story: when you play high speed chess time controls, you have to take the first winning move you find, as the clock has highest priority, just as in two minute drills in NFL football games.

Otherwise if black pawn not to takes the horse it will checkmate also the black king in just few moves .

16:19 White Bishop tp A 6 , I do not want to give black a reason to move the King and the attack may throw the opponent off as not to see the threat !

Thanks for the comment and question! The idea was there to threat the king in order to win time and clear the 1rst rank. Black should block the ckeck and the the Re1 can join the game by attacking the queen, am I right?

Knight to G6+ --> pawn capture, then Queen to H7, check mate.

Actually there is checkmate in 2: Knight G6 check: Black have only 2 options. Option 1: Take knight i.e. PG6. Then White play Queen H6 (Checkmate) Option 2: Movie King to G7. In this case also Queen H6 (Checkmate) Nice tutorial on King's Gambit..👍

When the black queen is on h4 why can’t the white pawn move to f3 to block and threaten it at the same time and if he takes it then the other pawn can take the black queen

I found checkmate in 2 on the puzzle. Knight H6, pawn h6 takes knight, queen h6 checkmate. And if pawn does not take you can take rook and still win eventually

David Bronstein claimed this and it caught on as a semi-urban legend, but in truth, Spassky lost a few (as white) prior to 1965. Despite that, it's admirable how he handled this opening, in fact, it's astounding he even used it in high-level competitive play.
