@@HugsBach there are some basic rules when wearing a uniform the boy had a uniform and the rank of sergeant and when a soldier/officer salute you, it is essential that you show him respect and salute back

Wow! That was a real 'weepie'!!! Bother those onions. I loved the way Frank marched to the guard before saluting and then the guard did that impressive stamp (I'm sure there's a proper word for it), before saluting back with his sword. Videos such as this make the world a better place, and this one is worth ten, twenty of the cringe-making ones. Thanks yet again Buska for your constant attention to the different scenarios at Horseguards.

As a boy, it was my Father's dream to join the Coldstream Guards. Guarding 'Buck House', the Tower of London, the Bank of England as well as serving two years in Palestine, then on the way home stopping off at Port Said to fight in North Africa. Including El Alamein and Tobruk. He told me you never make such great mates as in the Army! Dreams come true! 'Spit and Polish' and 'Keep your sights clean'! 'Chin in, chest out' Frank! Keep it up!

Well done for the guard to salute Sergeant Frank as he inspects the guards. The guard's smile was great. Also noticed Frank actually going beyond the gate. The Guardsman recieved a salute from Frank, and returned the salute as should be expected. Even Officers are obliged to return salutes from soldiers, as it is not the individual being saluted, but The Crown. I remember when I was serving, an Officer noticed a soldier hadn't saluted him, so stopped him and made him salute 20 times. The barracks RSM saw the incident and hauled the Officer over the coals and made the Officer return 20 salutes to the soldier at the soldiers convenience and officer's inconvenience.
