The public should always have access, but it needs to be respectful. New South Wales Police horses are very friendly and public is allowed to pat horses. But it is always best to ask permission of the trooper

As much as I love the horses and seeing how professional The Kings Guard are, it’s the tourist that are truly out of control. I think what they need to do is put a barrier up so this way the horse is not so surrounded to the point where it gets agitated. Also people have no respect for someone who is getting their picture taken. They will walk right in front of the person and not even care. They put up a barrier and allow maybe two people on each on the side of the horse I think it will be more controlled with the barrier gate. People can wait in line and if they don’t want to, they can leave you go to another country and there’s a huge sign telling you not what to do and people do it anyway. I’ve seen the children act more mature than the adults

@londonsage8696 They are on a public footpath on Whitehall , Westminster council not MOD so barriers are not possible , no room for them either . Barriers would also be potentially dangerous to horse and Trooper if the horse had a meltdown .

Obviously the police are slacking off again. Was that new lady policewoman on duty as she tends to back up the guards. What are the police actually meant to do at horse guards other than stand around posing with their guns engrossed in talking and ignoring all the chaos going on around them. a couple of the police there are very good its just a shame their colleges let them down. The man was in a couple of the videos I think he was a regular that videoed the things going on then he was stupid putting a listening devise on the gate. I remember the police evicting him and one of the regulars told the guy he should know better. The guard was good at spotting him but it also goes to show you can be surrounded by people and yet still feel alone. I wonder if that is what that guard felt.

@jackietomkinson933- The police are Ministry of Defence police their role is security , antiterrorism and public safety on a MOD property . They have ear pieces and there is a cctv system including in the box . Crowd control unless at change over times is not their mandate , at change over that's public safety . They can and do order people to leave the courtyard and like the man who planted a microphone ban them from Horse Guards . The Trooper who came out was seen talking to them , Army and MOD work together .
