My list is different to yours but great video nonetheless. Totally agree that there’s no bad album, it’s just one has to be 12… Top 5 for me would be 1) Gretchen 2) Tape head 3) FHL 4) Dogman 5) OOTSP 🤘

I've been a die hard fan for 30 years. I've seen them so many times I've lost count. So happy you ranked Mr. Bulbous so high. It's also one of my favorites and have never understood why it doesn't get as much love. Move Me is my all time favorite King's X songs. The riff, the harmonies, Doug and Ty both singing conflicting lines. Oh man!!! Ok, off to listen to it!!! Good list!

On any given day I can say Gretchen, Dogman, Bulbous or FHL is my favorite Kings X album. Love parts of other albums, some bigger parts than others, but those four albums beginning to end are excellent. Feel the same about Jelly Jam 1 too. That is a masterpiece.
Awesome video. I'm 52. Happy to retain that giddyness for new music I had when I was 12. Keep on doing it!

The only reason I rate Manic Moonlight higher is that, when they made the album, dUg was working on a Pineapple Skunk tour. He came back to do his tracks and said he got to hear what King’s X actually sounded like. I think that’s cool but I understand why other people don’t like it as much.

I love the Pineapple Skunk record. Atlanta is so good.

awesome video!! I´ve know this band for a few years, but only now I´ve been starting to dig into their discography. oen thing I´ve just thought about: I like how much Dug´s voice changed in the late 90s/early 2000s due to aging - in a way, it´s like 2 different voices, which makes King´s X even more fun and varied to listen to.

Pretty impossible to rank these albums for me. Maybe it's corny or cliche, but I think the first 5 albums should automatically be at the top. (Gretchen and Dogman being the best of the best!) But I understand that people all have their own personal experiences with the different projects.

Cool list. I've been a fan since '89 and have seen King's X live more than any other band. There was a time (short period) I pretty much only listened to them and a handful of others bands,...kinda nutz. The Sam Taylor era-records are really special. I guess I'll play along. This list would be slightly different if I rated them based on sonic/production quality and I'm not including the new record as I've not listened to it enough yet. 1. FHL 2. Dogman 3. GGTN 4. King's X 5. Please Come Home Mr. Bulbous 6. OOTSP 7. Ear Candy 8. Tape Head 9. Manic Moonlight 10. Ogre Tones 11. XV 12. Black Like Sunday

Gretchen, Self Titled, and Dogman are probably my favorites. Prisoner, Dogman, Out Of The Silent Planet, and Summerland are some of my favorite songs from them.

Ogre Tones is becoming a serious top 4-5 contender for me..a really great effort. First half of Ear Candy is perfection, needed to pare it down though. Dogman is utter perfection from start to finish and that’s difficult to always find on a King’s X album.
@marcomazotti2 жыл бұрын
Cool Video, my list would be different :) Dogman first. Sadly Ear Candy is shitty produced, this album could be much better because the songs are killer! FHL, Gretchen and XV would be on 2 3 and 4. Best wishes & rockON! :)

My Top 3 .. Probably no real surprises # 1 Gretchen 2 Faith Hope Love 3 Dogman & Gretchen was my Best album pick of 1989. One of the best trios ever & tremendously underrated. Lots of factors weighed against them .. but their fanbase is rabid & .. faithful.

@sonicallydisruptive - love your love of King’s X… great job on your Top Album Ranking. I looked, didn’t see any vids by you reviewing The Jelly Jam… curious your take on them.
@sonicallydisruptive2 жыл бұрын
I love the Jelly Jam. Shall I decent and Profit are unbelievably awesome. Love the 1st 2 as well, but those last two had so much darkness.
@HughesJay2 жыл бұрын
@@sonicallydisruptive agreed! What’s funny is I’d listened to JJam 1 & 2 a lot… and never got around to Descend and Profit… to my shame! ;) But the great part for me is I started listening to both those back when King’s X released Let it Rain (to tide me over until the full 3 Sides release) and I absolutely LOVE Descend and Profit. Lastly >>> great job on your 3Sides1 review… I’ll leave a comment there too ✅

I really just started getting into them last year, though I've known about them ever since hearing "Over my Head" on the radio in the 90s. I really like them but still haven't gotten a bunch of their albums. Looks like I need to check out Mr. Bulbous and soon.
@geoffreymerrifield56662 жыл бұрын
I concur, Black Like Sundayis my 13 but I don't fault them for it all. Manic Moonlight is my 12 too. Then we disagree. OOTSP is pretty good, but Ear Candy is amazing, much better than XV, Ogre Tones, Bulbous... But I appreciate your video.
@HughesJay2 жыл бұрын
I’ll throw my ranking out there as well: 1. Gretchen 2. Dogman 3. OOSilentPlanet 4. King’sX 5. TapeHead 6. EarCandy 7. Bulbous 8. FaithHopeLove 9. ManicMoonlight 10. OgerTones 11. XV ** BLSunday (not a “real” release for me)
@seamus2112ophelan2 жыл бұрын
How not a “real” release? King’s X wrote it and recoded it. WTF! & SMH
@CoachHughes2 жыл бұрын
@@seamus2112ophelan "Real" prob wasn't the best word choice... it's obviously real... but for me it's in the same category as the "Dogman Demos" and "Ty Tabor Tacklebox"... old songs that they'd chosen not to record in the past... a collection of B-Sides. Anyway - doesn't matter - it IS a studio release, and that's why I did include it at the end of my list... maybe I should have put a '12' before it. ;)

I can't do this. It's just impossible. I can tell my last 3 favorites but can't rank the others. Each one has a different meaning, feeling and importance to me. Now we could have a list of top 20 songs.

I did a top 16 songs a few years ago. I will update now, with the new album, there are a few that will make the top 20 cut.

I'm not as big fan of KIng's X or Mr.Bulbous, but still good, too. Dogman and Gretchen tie for #1. My only complaint for Dogman is that Ty really only has one tone in that album. Gretchen has more variety.
@Rogue_VI2 жыл бұрын
Holy crap. OOTSP and EC ranked lower than Ogre Tones and XV?!? That's crazy. I like Bulbous, but it is not a top record. GGTN FHL KX Dogman OOTSP --- This is so good, it makes me sad to put it this low EC Bulbous TH MM BLS OT XV The fact is, their later stuff does not compare to their earlier works.

Are you aware they’re a band of Christians? Are you aware their lead singer is gay? They’re not even aware of who they really are. I met them with my girlfriend in concert for their first album. Took pictures with Doug. They marketed themselves as Christians but I think it was a way to break into the music market so they took it. The music is hit and miss for me after the first album. Some good stuff on faith hope love album but sparse after that. They get lumped together with Galactic Cowboys but I think GC is far better. Atomic Opera’s first album is better than most King’s X to me. I reach for those two bands far more than King’s X but it sounds like you’re sold on them so enjoy. Thank God He created music for mankind to enjoy.
@sonicallydisruptive Жыл бұрын
I did know that. The band never claimed to be a Christian band but management pushed it and they had some religious themes, especially early on. I'm not religious in the least, but love the music. And yes I know Dug is gay, not sure what that matters? GC are good, or were good. For some reason, I never really connected with any of their songs.
@amysson5151 Жыл бұрын
It only matters that Doug is gay to know where their philosophy is coming from and what kind of heart they have because it shapes their view. I’d like to know what kind of person is feeding me their agenda so I’m aware of any lies.
