As a Bronx-native who be IN EVERY borough (Peace to my peoples in Brooklyn, Harlem/Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) this was the jam back in ‘97. For years, Brooklyn and The Bronx traded the crown for “most violent boro” but nowadays The Bronx definitely has the crown. And I’m not bragging. This shit is so bad, it feels like its going back to the late 80’s/early 90’s out here. And ppl sleep on Queens and Staten Island, but them boros low-key WILD as well.

I was introduced to hip hop back in 88 when I was 5 years old by a family that relocated to Austin from the Bronx. My mom was best friends with the mom of that family and their 16 year old daughter used to babysit me up until I was around 11. Me and their son would hang out all the time and I was exposed to a whole different mindset and culture. Thinking back on those times it literally blew my lil soft, sheltered ass mind. They were a rough, blunt, hard ass group of people but I still consider them family to this day. Everyone in that family was a character but they always showed me love.
