Hot Fuzz is set in 'The West Country' - Nick Frost is doing a really good Bristol accent. 'Col. Mustard' is Edward Woodward who is famous for playing 'Callan', and also played 'The Equalizer'. It is a real town, Wells in Somerset, the director Edgar Wright's home town, he used to have a Saturday job in the supermarket. Now you need to do 'The World's End', the final Cornetto film in the trilogy

The entire climax shootout was a culmination of every single errant question that they asked Nicholas when he first came to town. Who's got guns? Farmers. And farmer's mum's. And that's the first thing he runs into. Then Danny asked him about all of these specific scenarios, like have you ever fired two guns at the same time, have you ever jumped through the air while firing a gun, etc. The entire climactic battle is just going down the entire list of things that Nick said he's never done because police officers would never do that in real life.

Glad you enjoyed Hot Fuzz - it was filmed in my home town of Wells in Somerset. The director Edgar Wright lived here and went to the local Blue School. The superb cast is entirely due to his fast growing and thoroughly deserved reputation. The running joke of the swan is based on the fact that they inhabit the moat of the Bishop's Palace and regularly leave and turn up in odd places. The pub was not wrecked and is a popular watering hole. Wells is the smallest City in England and a beautiful Cathedral amongst many other glories. A visit will not disappoint.

In response to all of the reviews where people say that the villain was so obvious he may as well have had a neon sign pointing at him saying BAD GUY, Edgar Wright initially planned to do that in the scene where Skinner is introduced, but the camera movements were too complex for it to be viable. Loads of other comments have mentioned this but to add my 2p, it's impossible to get everything on the first viewing but basically every line, every shot in this movie is a foreshadowing, a callback, a reference to another film or a reference to what happens one second later, it's incredible EDIT: Also, I lived in Gloucestershire for a while and excepting (as far as I know...) the murders, this film portrays small town West Country life and the Best Village competetion obsession to a T lol

That guy from Harry Potter is Jim Broadbent, he was in Bridget Jones, Indiana Jones 4 and it's kind of Funny he gets recognised as antagonist Police constable Slater in Only fools and horses despite only appearing in I think 3 episodes total, that's how good his character was. You might want to check out an oldie with him, 2001's The Parole Officer, also with Lena Heady. You don't have to do an 'official' posting on it, just something to sit back to, enjoy a 'takeaway curry' and have a goofy ole grin on the whole time. Also, Pegg and Frost teamed up again, though not considered part of the cornetto trilogy, but were in 2011's Paul, which has the 'space aliens' theme, also worth watching (as you brought up).
