For those that prefer wearing their hair out, the key is doing weekly braid outs or leaving them in big braids and just taking it out when you go out. This is bc it’s a good way to semi stretch your hair and it allows you to comb your hair less (which means less breaking). It def retains easiest doing twists or braids but it’s another option
@notsurge2321 Жыл бұрын
Ok can someone tell me if this is bad so, I two strand twist my hair every single night. And take it out in the morning and just rock a twist out. A lot of ppl tell me twisting it every day is bad for your hair or it will thin it out or that’s leading to breakage but I googled it and it said u can twist out ur hair every night as long as your not doing it too tight so can someone tell me what’s right and what’s wrong? And pls don’t just say both sides r right I need to know what to listen to😂😂
@wana.me003 Жыл бұрын
@@notsurge2321 in general the reason why ladies say that men's hair just appears to grow with minimal or no effort at all is because we touch it a lot less than they do. Wearing out your hair or having different styles on it is amazing, that's the reason we are not doing dread locks probably. Having long hair myself I rock a two strand twist, braid hairstyle or a protective hairstyle for 3 or 4 weeks and rock it out combed back or curled out for a week. When you don't touch your hair much, workout, plenty of water and eat a healthy balanced diet your hair grows. Don't forget to deep condition aight!
@rico2244 Жыл бұрын
@@notsurge2321 lol I’m gonna go with the assumption that you got typical Black hair - that kinky/nappy type like myself. If so, the answer is absolutely not. Our hair grows its best when left tf alone 😂 Peep how the people with the longest and healthier hair usually have it in braids/twists. Any time you are braiding or twisting, you’re manipulating it. Manipulation WILL cause at least a small bit of damage but it is necessary if you don’t plan on locking your hair. Basically, if you’re wearing your hair out, the goal is to comb it enough that it isn’t matting/dreading but not so often your hair keeps coming out. This is why a weekly braid out or twist out works. If you’re doing it every day bc the style isn’t lasting long enough, here’s what you gotta do: 1- before twisting/braiding, your hair MUST BE thoroughly combed otherwise it is going to get matted faster 2- don’t take out until fully dry. Wet braid outs don’t hold even close to the same amount of time 3- protection is needed (pause lol). Sleep with a durag or bonnet or anything to keep those ends protected (a silk type shirt works too. 4- still moisturize with an oil and/or conditioner if it feels dry.

My stylist who does my twists does a trim for me once a season/quarter. It's never a lot that gets trimmed off. But it helps tremendously. Whenever you see those little knots start to form, or your hair gets harder to detangle, or you start getting more breakage than normal while washing/detangling, then it's time for a trim.

Split ends is one reason but it’s also just overall maintaining the moisture in your hair to avoid breakage. Try treating your hair after braid ups instead of jumping right back into another style and keeping your ends healthy, and comb gently from the bottom to the roots and you’ll grow your hair down to your mid chest like mine and I have 4c hair 🤷🏾♂️

Glad you mentioned leaving your hair alone but COMBS! COMBS and brushes are the reason our hair breaks off. I started GENTLE finger detangling for 1 year. My hair grew 6 more inches like it’s SUPPOSED TO. Our hair is so dang fragile and COMBS are honestly the BIGGEST reason our hair breaks off. Hair grows 6 inches each year so why do some people that are 20+ years old and haven’t cut their hair have hair that doesn’t pass chin length? Because we rip our hair out using COMBS!! That’s the biggest secret. Drop the combs and brushes and your hair will be long AF.
